This school is rich BECAUSE they are good. The better reputation you have the more money is donated etc etc. I love them and their shows and I'm here in VA. I respect and idolize this marching band for all of their shows.
@@t0rPet020 Hi Travis, I was in this show! I played trombone. The plumes that were in our hats were the orange ones. We then had paper towel rolls covered in black feathers that we slid over the orange plumes. At 3:28, when we put our foreheads to the ground, we held the black-feathered rolls so when we leaned back, they would stay on the ground in-between our knees (you can't see them because our uniforms were also black), revealing the orange plumes. At 4:07, when we went back down, we'd slide the black-feathered roll back over our orange plume. I remember people would walk up to us in the stadium hallways at BOA competitions asking us how we did the plume change, but all 300+ of us kept our lips sealed. It was the best kept secret at BOA that year. :) Chambers, Koehl, Nix, and Guidry were absolute revolutionaries in the HS marching band space. Those were 4 of the best years of my life.
I still remember sitting in the stands during semifinals and watching this show and being blown away. I also remember seeing them in 2003 and being even more blown away, still one of my favorite high school marching band shows to this day.
Possibly THE most epic melody line I've ever heard in a marching band show. I like how the bells play a cute little scale right before it to make you go like "tee-hee, that was cute" but NO! what's that? ...Snare crack, and a hardcore brass and percussion interlude that tells the story of the sweat and tears that brought them all to that exact moment in its own way. First time I heard it I went back and listened to it again and again like 20 times, lol :P
This was the show that started it all for Reagan in 2002 their main focus was to go to Grand Nationals and not win, but to make finals to set up the challenge for the next year and they ended up placing 11th I believe. Texas schools are limited to 8 hours of practice a week so schools from Indiana, Illinois, Flordia, and Georgia have an advantage there, but this was definately one of the most memorable shows from 2002 GN.
Even five years later I still fucking love this show. Thanks for having us (Carmel) down to SA to watch you guys blow our minds with incredible brass sound.
Awesomeness!! A, "Where are they now?", would be great! My son is a junior and is a tenor sax player at this school. I wonder if any of these kids kids are in band with him...
Congrats RRHS for getting Fourth in Pearland. I am from Stephen F Austin and wanted to say bravo for a memorable performance. I will be happy to see you guys in San Antonio for super regionals. We will be watching so kick ass and always "Be Remembered". Ps: We arent competing but going to Grand Nationals
This band is amazing. as for size. yeah its fantastic to see a size that large. when i marched in high school, we had 280 and that was a lot for our area. this is just phenomenal!
It's Aaron Guidry who did a lot of the work from that along with Chambers. He now drums for Cirque in LV and arranges many marching shows commercially.
Wow....that breakdown around 5:45...catchy, really catchy. For some reason the dancing reminds me of a battle scene from an RPG like Final Fantasy or something.
They have the same arranger for many of their shows, and all arrangers typically have their own style that shows up as they write more and more shows (Aaron Guidry in this case, but similarly for well-known arrangers like Boerma, Higginbotham, and Poulan)
its funny for people to say that these school are all rich, that's why they are good...NO! its the kids work ethics, and im pretty sure that when these kids go home from marching practice, im sure they still practice at home! yes they come from wealthy areas, but these school also fundraise like crazy in order for them to compete at this level...I came from a poor school in SA, and the kids where I went didn't care about band...well most! they just did it to do it..."rich kids" do it to win!
yeah, i was there in person...i dont mean lack of playing as in they werent loud, i mean they didnt play music most of the show, they were busy karate chopping and doing plume tricks...but it was a very entertaining show.
don't be scared. the best thing you could do to iron out your nerves is to show up to the tuesday sectionals. also, it'd be smart to work on your ability to play loud. congrats on 1st band
@AxlRed24 Haha. I really enjoyed marching season for us this year. We were only ok, though. Didn't make finals at state. But it was still fun as anything. Haha.
it's unfortunate that all kids don't get an opportunity to perform at this level. I can tell you it's not that most kids aren't good enough. there's just no money. that's that to say these guys aren't special. but think of all the money invested in every one of them. probably no less than a half million dollars just on marching band.
Really????? Calling other people names on youtube??? TessaGrace13 is right, the orange ones were attached to the hat. And though the band members might have told you how they did it in 03', that doesn't mean thats how they did it this year. There are also other ways to lose your plume, like when they were rocking out, it could have fallen off then.
In this show they were always on the hat with a paper towel roll over top that had the black feathers. In 2003, they were in the sleeves. Some carried 1, more carried 2, and I can’t remember of the trumpet at the end carried 2 or 3.
would anyone out there agree with me when i say that this is the gayest show out of reagan recently? haha like seriously i love reagan but i watched this show like "huh?"
This school is rich BECAUSE they are good. The better reputation you have the more money is donated etc etc. I love them and their shows and I'm here in VA. I respect and idolize this marching band for all of their shows.
I love how the plume change revolutionized the HS band world.
Can someone explain to me how this plume change worked?
@@t0rPet020 Hi Travis, I was in this show! I played trombone.

I'm a freshman this year at Reagan and our show has potential to be one of the best even after the Johnson split.
could you be talking about re?
Loved the colors and overall energy to the show! One of my favorites from Grand Nats that I've seen. Personally my favorite Reagan show.
Best marching show I have ever seen. I applaud the drill writer and the directors of this fantastic music program.
Even five years later I still fucking love this show. Thanks for having us (Carmel) down to SA to watch you guys blow our minds with incredible brass sound.
I just love the opening hit!!
Awesomeness!! A, "Where are they now?", would be great! My son is a junior and is a tenor sax player at this school. I wonder if any of these kids kids are in band with him...

A-BLINKIN-MAZING SHOW. Go win something big, guys!!!
This band is amazing. as for size. yeah its fantastic to see a size that large. when i marched in high school, we had 280 and that was a lot for our area. this is just phenomenal!
i love this show, i think that really good band from Marshall MN did it last year too or maybe it was two years agol
It's Aaron Guidry who did a lot of the work from that along with Chambers. He now drums for Cirque in LV and arranges many marching shows commercially.
We're doing this show this year! Not the same drill, of course. But that was really cool! I really liked it a lot!

Wow....that breakdown around 5:45...catchy, really catchy. For some reason the dancing reminds me of a battle scene from an RPG like Final Fantasy or something.
the music is from journey of man, and la nouba, great show...deserved 11th for lack of playing...but when they did play they sounded wonderful
ok next season, I really want to play this.SOOOO BAAADD
Much of the music is also from Cirque du Soleil's O Show
Amen to that
I wish i could have gone to reagan
wait WHAT?! 11?! are you serious? i cant even imagine first place...
They have the same arranger for many of their shows, and all arrangers typically have their own style that shows up as they write more and more shows (Aaron Guidry in this case, but similarly for well-known arrangers like Boerma, Higginbotham, and Poulan)
What the heck that's so amazing XD
It's amazing how much better this got if you look at San Antonio region to GN finals.
o really? that's cool, i was unaware of that, thanks bro
@TheAzulon13 My school is to. What school might that be?
look at the jazz run at :55 Oh My God.
its funny for people to say that these school are all rich, that's why they are good...NO! its the kids work ethics, and im pretty sure that when these kids go home from marching practice, im sure they still practice at home! yes they come from wealthy areas, but these school also fundraise like crazy in order for them to compete at this level...I came from a poor school in SA, and the kids where I went didn't care about band...well most! they just did it to do it..."rich kids" do it to win!
this band should have gotten first 5.30 to 7.30 is my favorite part but overall the band is awesome!!
Is what's happening at 1:00 impressive? because i find it extremely impressive.
yeah, i was there in person...i dont mean lack of playing as in they werent loud, i mean they didnt play music most of the show, they were busy karate chopping and doing plume tricks...but it was a very entertaining show.

Well, it would seem that Crossmen should have a steady influx of talent for years to come!
@AxlRed24
Could I see the t-bone music? I want to compare ours to theirs, difficulty wise.
i wanna know the same thing, in beyond perimeters they have 2 different colors besides black!
@AxlRed24
Ah, dude that's fine. Thanks for replying!
And by the way, what was it like being in this program? Just curious.
@AxlRed24
Haha. I really enjoyed marching season for us this year. We were only ok, though. Didn't make finals at state. But it was still fun as anything. Haha.
this video is too quiet. but still, this show is amazing. this was the year lassiter pwnd everybody at GN.
if this got 11th i want to see 1st...
Lassiter won BOA in 2002 and they were quite a bit better than RR that year. You should definitely check them out.
CAS Sports Lassiter deserved first...but this should’ve placed higher than 11th. It’s ahead of its time.
how do they change the colors!?!?!?
Haha we are playing this piece for marching band we scored 3rd place last year in competition
do you go to oconner then?
@GrantBingham1 Cirque du Soleil at beginning and end. A few other pieces in between. I think Aegean overture after the opening minute or so

This is one of those questions that will never be answered, similar to what happens to the phantom in SCV '89.
guard uniforms are nice
@supercoolredhead Reminds me of Galactus mixed with Tron guy.
Really?????

@TerrifficTenor15 Journey of Man
Oh wow, Aegean Festival Overture.
this show should've got first, and i'm not even from reagan
lassiter was awesome but i wouldnt say pwnd...
H
ummmmmmmmm........they don't
"Elite" neighborhoods. Sigh.
Lol are plumes are not "in our sleaves" their on our plume its just a shell thats black then the real plume

Great show..too bad they used a tape for the snake charmer solo and fucked its reputation. Cheaters never win.
