- I decided to try walking the entire length of Portugal.
It took 35 days, around 800km
(550 miles).
I carried the least possible with me. A tent, some clothing, and basic utensils.
Sometimes there were walking routes, other times I improvised.
To film I supported my phone where I could and walked back to retrieve it. The recording process was entertaining amongst the solitude.
This is my simple video, for memories to come.
It was a long, amazing journey.
Tom, what a wonderful hike! I admire what you have achieved, how you did it and the beautiful way you captured and presented the journey 👏👏
I have just returned from Portugal after completing a similar journey which I did in two parts - Lisbon to Caminha (2022) and Lisbon to Lagos (2024).
Muito respeito da Irlanda! Cyril.
Thank you so much! That's awesome, much respect right back to you :)
Amazing! Beautiful country!
Amazing... thank you!
Lovely relaxing film makes me want to go in fact I was thinking the fisherman's trail in October, anyway cheers I've just subscribed.
@@michaelpenney3775 Thank you so much! October is perfect timing, hope you have a great experience :)
Very nicely done! Beautiful!
Superb video about a beautiful journey. You captured the calm and quiet of a solitary month-long walk.
Great route and accomplishment to do the whole length - what an adventure !!
Excelente edição! Soube captar as melhores cenas, o que nos deu uma visão global da viagem, sem se tornar monótono.
Muito obrigado! :)
Love the style of the video. It was a great watch. If I’ll ever do a similiar journey, i want to film and share it as well. Thanks for the inspiration.
Glad you filmed it… a relaxing 17 mins of Portuguese scenery !
Heel nice, bedankt.
That was fantastic! Thank you for filming it and taking us along with you.
You did a great job editing.
Wow, what a scenery my friend. This looks absolutely stunning. Landscapes are breathtaking!🔥🔥
Such a cool adventure Tom, congratulations. The route you've taken looks even better than Camino the Santiago :)
Congrats! Incredible achievement.
Nice and silent, not much talking, Well done, great video footage and thx for us there. Portugal is amazingly diverse in climates.

Ehy mate great video! I did the same but from Porto to Lisbon, and I'm doing it again in march! Wanna come? Anybody? Did you sleep in your tent the whole trip? What about the Estrada Atlantica ?
Cheers! That sounds great, enjoy :) Most of the time I did.
Fantastic walk and fantastic video. Thankyou for not adding music.. what month of the year did you walk?
I will do the same walk one day, starting to practise walking now.... Thank you,, make more adventures please. /Noa
@@noaroos294 Thank you so much Noa! I did it in September. Hope you have a wonderful adventure/s :)
Maravilhosa caminhada. Maravilhoso trabalho com o vídeo. Felicidades
This was so well balanced and enjoyable! A good mix of the sights and sounds with just the right amount of narration. Thank you for sharing it. What time of year was this?
Thank you so much! It was in September :)
This is unbelievable. What a journey. I have some questions.
First, where is this place at 9:20?
Also, did you use the same pair of hiking shoes for your entire journey? What kind were they and how did they hold up?
What kind of backpack did you use, and would you recommend for a journey like this?
For drinking water, did you have a bladder, and where did you fill up?
And did you use a GPX device for your route and have it all planned in advance? Or did you improvise as you went along? Were you able to camp anywhere on public land, or did it have to be a designated place?
Cheers! 9.20 is just a short walk north of "Cabo da Roca". I used my running shoes (very light and fresh) they worked very well. The backpack was lent to me and it was great (Quechua Forclaz 40 Air). For water, I filled up a bottle where I could (cafes or restrooms). About half the route was improvised, half was marked :)
Awesome video bro!!
Awesome!
Hi Tom) I like trials and footage) good video
Looks like an amazing backpack through a beautiful country! Congratulations! I was wondering what kind of food did you carry and eat? What were your water sources? Thank you!
Beaches with cafes, restrooms, or shops in villages (tap water, bread, butter, milk, tuna, vitamins, etc) Mostly improvisation :)
Nice, which season is this/ what month?
September, late summer :)
Tom! You did a wonderful job with your documentary style! Absolutely loved it! I was in Sesimbra once (overlooking Troia) and the view literally brought a surprise tear to my eye. 🥹
Where was that place with the cool bridge…just before Nazare? Loved that you featured Vila do Conde-my parents city!
Happy travels!! Hope to see more! You’re a cool dude!
That's so kind of you Lisa, thank you. The bridge is in Praia da Foz do Sizandro :)
Do you've only lost 4 kg after that long walk? If I attempt that I'd probably lose half of my body weight!
And it would take me way more than 35 day for sure.
That was an impressive effort, well done 👏👍
Well done and a nice and inspiring(!) video. I have plans to do the same in opposite direction.
Thank you for sharing. I am doing the Portugal coast in sections. Wnat month did you walk?
September :)
Gostei apesar que acho que podias ter usado música de fundo ao estilo de Kraig Adams.. ;)
This was very cool and so beautiful. Did you lose any kg after the 35 days?
I believe I lost around 4kg :)
great video you win a subscriber =)
