makes me super excited to go single turbo on my Aristo! really wanna go G25-550 or GT3076R, wanting to make around 420-430 wheel on 93 so this setup seems perfect! love the videos as always Adam!
The g25-660 will be miles better for response than the old gt3076r, the gtx3071r gen2 even makes more power than the old 3076 with much better response

Feel free to read up on how turbos work before reading this.
I'm not a super mechanic, but I've picked up a thing or two over the years, to give you an idea of what's going on. That flutter you're hearing is air pressure pushing past the compressor when you let off; it intermittently makes the compressor wheel stall, which isn't the greatest for a turbo, but it helps you stay on boost. The turbos with the holes cut in them all around the snail are designed for no blow off valve/pressure relief valve, as they allow the pressure to release through the housing without it interrupting the propeller [It's only designed to go one way]. The front half of the turbo (that sucks the air in) is called the compressor, because it compresses the air molecules by force, hence forced induction (forcing more air per cubic inch into the intake). The back side of the turbo is called the turbine. The turbine is spooled by the exiting exhaust gas, which spins a prop shaft connected to the compressor wheel at the front. A turbo is driven off of the pressure of the exhaust gas. It's spun up from the back half, propelling the front to suck in.
When you have your foot down revving out, the turbo is sucking it all in; as soon as you let off, that pressure cant go into the intake, so it backs up the intake, and either goes back out through the turbo compressor wheel (flutter, stall the wheel), or out through the drilled out holes in the housing. A blow off, or dump valve releases that pressure between gears, if you don't have a pressure releasing compressor housing.
A waste gate isn't the same thing. A waste gate sits on the exhaust side and inhibits too much pressure from entering the back half of the turbo: the turbine.
