    My coolant level is low. I bought some coolant for my 03 Tahoe and I’m just wondering, can I just top it off? It still looks good so I don’t think I need to drain any but I’m in my 20’s and still learning.

    • @PaulPhillipsFix
      @PaulPhillipsFix  Год назад +1

      Hello Christian, these antifreeze companies say their coolants can last up to 5 yrs or 100,000 miles. Coolant can turn acidic from cycling from hot to cool. I change mine out every three years. Antifreeze is much cheaper than having problems like a leaking heater core which is a very labor intensive/expensive repair. I think it wise to air on the side of caution. One thing I need you to be aware of is to NEVER put tap water or any water other than distilled water in your engine cooling system. The minerals will cause damage to components. I hope this info is helpful to you. Feel free to write anytime. Kudos for wanting to learn. Please subscribe and share if you haven't already done so, I could use the support. Thanks, Paul.

    How many liters do I add and how much water?

    • @PaulPhillipsFix
      @PaulPhillipsFix  Год назад

      Coolant capacity is approx 6 quarts with a 50/50 blend if you use straight antifreeze, it's the cheaper way to go... only dilute with distilled water. Never use tap water! Don't use that damn Dexcool as it's garbage, go with Prestone or any other brand but Dexcool, those orange coolants are terrible.

    I have a 01 2500 HD how do I know if I need a flush?

    • @PaulPhillipsFix
      @PaulPhillipsFix  2 года назад

      I replace my coolant every three to four years. This is cheaper than cooling system issues. Please use distilled water with the antifreeze, never tap water. Also, please properly dispose of coolant as it is toxic to animals.

    • @PaulPhillipsFix
      @PaulPhillipsFix  Год назад

      Thanks for watching. Can't help you with the rain :-) Maybe you have a different model radiator if the hose nipple isn't there. If it is, just run out and get a piece of hose for it. I definitely like having it there as it helps reduce in making a mess

    • @RodknockRhett
      @RodknockRhett Год назад +1

      @@PaulPhillipsFix nipple is there. Valve is missing. I think it’s a cheap aftermarket radiator.
      I’ll just have to flush it later one through the lower radiator hose which will make a huge mess. But it is what it is. Thanks for the video.
