the reason why some children stop playing the piano is because they don’t enjoy it/find it boring when they’re young ,but often when they get older they regret that decision.
i regret my decision, i stopped piano when i was six. i had only played for a year then but i think if i didn’t stop i could have done 8 years of progress by now. I restarted at 11 or 12 . now im 14 and i think in two years and a half of piano lessons i have learnt alot! In two years you can play this piece , you can play all sorts of things. So don’t give up. Don’t think you’re too old to restart or too late. Just try. And you’ll see that you will be happy and you will be glad. And if you have the determination, you can learn a lot, even in one year!
every day when i see my progress and determination, im making up for the lost time. And you can too.
    good luck!
learn this and put your heart into it.
    - i hope this message will help someone who needs it.

I started playing the piano when I was 9. I stopped when I was 12 because of school. Now I'm 16 and I realize I really do have the talent. I wanna start again but the lessons are really expensive... I can't play by ear and I "forgot" how to read notes. I can tell you as a person who has played the same instrument for 7 1/2 years, even if it doesn't seem to be worth it then, it's totally worth it now and even though you have to put so much time in as a kid, it has become my stress reliever to play and it makes you feel good inside. So don't quit and keep working and even though I know I sound like everyone's parents and teachers, if you put the work in you get the results and as a 7th grader who played with the 8th and 9th graders in band last year, it felt so good to know that I could play well enough that people noticed it. So no matter when you start, just know that it will be worth it and the price of success is never too great when it comes to something like this.

So I was forced into piano playing, and only recently, I threatened to stop/refusing to play piano if she wouldn’t let me choose the pieces. She gave in and now I enjoy it a lot more. I started playing piano when I was 4 1/2 and I had a love hate relationship with it for a long time. I stuck with it though and when I turned 13 or 14 it took on a whole new meaning for me. It was how I evened out my emotions and calmed down when I was upset. Playing music became a haven for me. At some point when I was around 15 or 16 I was forced to play on the worship team by my parents. I hated every moment. I hated the music i was forced to play. And I slowly started to drift away from playing. It's been about 3 years since I sat down at my piano.
This song reminded me of the joy i used to feel when I played. I miss it so much, but i dont know if I'll ever truly enjoy playing again. Which I know sounds dramatic, but it feels like that piece of my soul has been stolen or something. I don't know.
All that to say thank you for letting me feel a joy that I haven't felt in a long time. 💜

I started at about 4 too, and i always said "maybe i should quit, its boring" and then the next day "maybe i should carry on" and now at 13 years old, (nearly 14) I realise that it expresses so many things and without it i dont know what i would do. to be honest i should be thanking it xD

I can relate. I started piano at 10 and at the same time started voice lessons. Piano was fine but I never felt a huge connection to it until I was 13/14. It was then that everything changed and playing piano became the thing that grounded me, but also allowed me to take flight. My parents forced me to sing for them though and it robbed me of my joy of singing. So now I’m 18 and I no longer sing for anyone but myself, but I play piano for anyone and everyone.

close your eyes when the beat drops. imagine all of your childhood memories. childhood youtubers, singers, etc. imagine you with your parents. hearing their voice. whether they're speaking to you in a loving way, or rather you could be curled up in a ball on your floor, trying to avoid the arguments from your parents. imagine your family. whether you are an only child, whether you have siblings that annoy you but you'll always love them, whether you have siblings you despise. imagine your friends. whether you grew up alone, whether you needed someone but no one needed you, whether you didn't need anyone, whether you had great friends who were always there for you, whether you had toxic friends but you were too desperate and blinded to see how they were taking advantage of your poor innocent soul, whether it was one friend who always had your back so you decided you didn't need anyone else. imagine playing in the garden, climbing a hill, rolling back down, whilst laughing hysterically with your loved ones. imagine your toys. whether it was your favourite toy to play with, favourite teddy to sleep with. imagine your accomplishments. whether its your first words, whether its your first steps, walking towards your parents as they smile, believing in you. now, i want you to imagine you. just you. you hugging someone. you kissing someone. you laughing. you smiling. you getting made fun of. you sulking. you crying yourself to sleep. you telling everyone you're fine. you looking in the mirror. whether you're ashamed, upset, or still proud of yourself. you trying to sleep, as the voices in your head continue to explain the horrific things you should do to your self. whether its verbally abusing yourself, physically, or possibly the worst, mentally. you getting ready to participate in the horrific things. you wanting to give up. you hearing your parents talk about you. you watching the rest of the class getting all A - C, before her proud smile quickly turns into a disappointed frown as she looks down to a certain sheet of paper; your grade. you failing in school. you realizing how much your life has changed. you realizing how much you've grown up. you realizing there is no point anymore. you realizing there is no way to run. you realizing it's only gone downhill, so who says the future won't be the same? you on a rooftop. looking down at all the cars driving by in the dark. looking down to see the streetlights lighting up the city, like shiny stars but below the beautiful sky. you look up to see the stars. they are shining, shining so bright. they make the sky so majestic, they complete the sky. then you look down again, at the streetlights. those streetlights reminding you of something; but what? they light up the city. they brighten up the cars going by. without them, it would just be darkness. complete darkness, with nowhere to go. the cars, not being able to see, possibly ending up in a crash that could cause many terrible incidents. but because of the streetlights, it brightens up their darkness and keeps you safe. honestly, they make down there look magestic, its like... they complete down below. they make it perfect. they make it beautiful; just like the sky. you realize your life is dark, with nowhere to go. but, so is the sky and the city down below. so if your life was to go uphill, you would get darkness but with shiny brightness everywhere. but if your life were to go downhill, you would get darkness, but with shiny brightness everywhere, because of those streetlights. but, what does that have to do with life? i have no stars or streetlights in my life. but, what about all our family and friends? what about our pets? what about all the people who spent their life trying to brighten up yours? you were just too blinded by the light to realize it. those people have brightened up your life, and attempted to make it the happiest life there could have ever been. those people are your stars and streetlights.
    ...
okay, now, open your eyes. do you have a new/difference perspective of life? do you realize what blessing you have been granted with?
hey, stranger. it gets better. have a great life.

to anyone reading this and getting tired of playing the piano; do NOT stop. i have played for 4 years now and don’t regret it, even though there are stressful parts that come with it. i’ve wanted to quit for so many times, but i never did. i don’t regret staying. don’t give up. you will regret quitting if you do.

I began playing the piano when I was two but gave up when I was at the age of 10 thinking it's boring. A decade later I picked it back up and retained most of what I thought I have lost. To this day I regret ever stopping. To those who thought piano is boring and a skill not worth attaining and improving, I say you are misguiding yourself down a path of regret. Please for the love of your future self, never stop playing the piano!

I know it’s been said however it bears being said again. I also took a brief break from piano. I’ve been playing for about 3 years cumulative right now and am so happy I started back up. I didn’t enjoy it at first; It felt more of a chore than a hobby. However, I feel I’ve crested a hill. A lot of people are on the steep uphill but trust me, the momentum of all the things you learned combined with motivation will bring you to succeed. Trust me, if you want to start piano again, don’t wait for the “right time” because it is now. Even if it is a baby steps, when you crest the metaphorical hill, it’s an unimaginable feeling. Good luck out there!

I LOVE the works of Einaudi! He brings the best examples of Minimalism to our hearts and souls! You bring every note alive like a glistening raindrop, with attention to each and every detail! You have beautiful technique and perfect control over your instrument! Beautiful, evenly weighted strokes, beautiful crescendos, perfect sense of rhythm, and best of all, played with beautiful EMOTION! For me, notes are just notes without the PASSION! I am so glad you introduced yourself to me today. I am loving your channel!! BRAVO!!! ~Jackie

@@TheFlamingPiano Awww....thanks for the kind words and tips Jason! I really do appreciate it a lot. I used to be much more involved at the beginning and liked G+ for sharing. I used Facebook a bit more also, Soundcloud for my originals, etc. I even had one of my improvs chosen to appear in an HBO Documentary in June of 2015 and that was a wonderful highlight and my only "pro" gig :-) We went through a lot of family health problems during the past several years....lost my young nephew at 20 to cancer, then my ONLY sister passed a few years ago. It was heartbreaking. This is life, but so tough. Add to that a corporate life and aging parents and that means it's just so tough to keep up!! I really do appreciate your encouragement!! I have good days and bad days with my hands. My good days are only a fraction of what I once was, but I am SO grateful for it.
