Lovely mini doc. Road trips for many of us who love cars (and motorcycles) are what it's all about. It's been 10 years since my last GS trip, and the unique deep throaty sound of its engine coming through here, made me miss it so much. Overlaying your cycling and motorcycling footage made this especially unique. More of this type of content please!
11:34.... what a snap... As much as I like the car vids, 'Joe on Bikes' gets a vote from me. This alone inspires me to get out there on my 1250GSA, Thank you
Just finished watching this series after listening to your podcast with Sue Perkins. What a fantastic trip and so impressive what you achieved in only 6 days 💪🏼
Thanks joe😎 been waiting for this one. Started watching many years ago as a petrol head myself, have since also added bikes to my petrol addiction. Made up to see you on 2 wheels mate as you will know anyone capable should definitely give it a go. A method of adding endless experiences and good memorys. Looking forward to future bike content👍
Great bloke Joe. You've been so busy traveling, for bikes, cars, launches, etc etc. All your content is entertaining and excellent quality which must take a huge amount of concentration and effort. Getting to the point, just be careful you don't burn yourself out and get ill. All the best. Cheers.
These trips are teaching you about yourself, but what it’s teaching me is that sometimes I’m a jealous hater. Despite my failings, I really like these bike vids. Cheers.
Great bike vids, glad enjoying biking better late than never!! Enjoy my 992 TurboS cab, but love biking more. I have the new R1300GS, you need to try it!! Enjoy your car vids too, but bit too BMW for me!!
Awesome mate! I was hanging for this episode 😊 Special memories for me on Alp D'Huez, we did it in 2013 just before the pros came through, weather was horrible but we didnt care, there was people everywhere the atmosphere was amazing and Dutch corner was insane 🤣 approx 3km from the summit we got diverted off the main road to a back way...we were so pissed off we rode back to the turn off and rode up the right way, we werent going to be cheated lol That year the pros did it twice and we watched them finish in a pub a few hundred from the finish.....it was bucketing down and we went 'another' back way, it was fucking chaos everyone had the same idea, i reckon i got bumped by every french tv network weaving my way through, just as many twist and turns on the way down, brakes were failing and i was like yep any second now and im done for, just waiting for the borrowed Trek to spit me off but i somehow made it to the botton never been so relieved 🤣 the nearly died again a few hours later on the bus ride to Annecy but thats another story! Ahhh memories 🤣🤣
@@JoeAchilles1 Definitely do it mate, the atmosphere is amazing especially a summit finish on one of the iconic climbs. I no longer cycle but would love to ride some of those iconic mountains on a motorbike.
Love The Tour nostalgia, also love bikes, motorbikes and cars. Great little trip. I sold my GS however for a Ducati Multistrada pikes peak which I love.
Thanks Joe for making the vids, couldn't have picked such glorious passes. You beat me by a few mins on Alp Huez, on the old push bike, those 21 bends hurt. Bike went like clockwork, may need to get rid of my Beta 300 or just bite the bullet and get a GS. Cheers from Anglesey...
Inspirational joe. Thank you. Just brought a gs. I was going to wales, however, having watched your film, I’m now going to try and plan a similar loop to you. I’m also in Bugbrooke so if you fancy a coffee and a ride give me a shout. Thank u
I have been round and there is somthing special about the mountains. Nothing beats a bike for clearing the mind and just getting out for some freedom. Cars don't do the same for me anymore
Hello Joe, I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now, loved this one on the GS tour, well done you, big task doing this trip solo. Would be great if you could share the route you did. Good luck for the future of biking and welcome to the brotherhood. cheers Bobbielocks
Very nice video's on your trip through the french alps! If you loved the roads overthere, I can recommand a trip through Corsica; the Dolomites (region of Cortina d' Ampezzo) and the region north of the Italian lakes (region of Bormio) . Very similar roads and views. Me too, I am a GS driver. Grtz from Belgium.
Been following you mate since your M135 days, just got into biking and bought a Triumph Tiger 800 XCX, really hoping to do a euro trip this summer/autumn!
Joe, doing a road-trip this summer for 1-2 weeks, would be nice if you’d make a map or something like that of locations and road that are must do’s. Cheers 😊
Always intended to get to the Brompton racing (as a voyeur) really regret selling mine 🤦🏼♂️ Didn’t realise you’d raced with / against Steve Peat, must have been great times in the sport. Oh and your nostalgic trip on the GS was great too! 🤣
From experience and from friends recommendations it’s not recommended to wear a backpack for touring. If you do then the ones to go for are Kriega because they don’t place the weight in the normal place.
Hi Joe, love this video and am looking at getting a GS myself quite soon. Could you please tell me where to find the route you took on this journey as it looks amazing and I’d like to do the same one.
Acheingly beautiful drive and views! Also, don't get a GS. I know they're so good but nowadays it seems like half the guys doing drives in/around Europe drive them.
Buy some “ GRIP PUPPIES” for you’re bars, I’ve had them on every bike including my GS, they make a world of difference and you’ll never be without out them. 👍
the 5'serie look a way better than this type of motorbike - do you change this adventure to (maybe) r19t , custom-bike with a touch more taste than chris his grumbling bmw coffee-shop'per ...or total equiped sport moped ?
What is your impression of BMW cars vs bikes? Do you think the bike division does a better job of building products for the enthusiast customer? Do you think the design of the models stands apart more from the competition compared to the cars? What if M division was less about image and marketing and more about producing a distinct product aimed more at the enthusiast driver/rider? It seems the cars have followed market trends and competitors. Selling lots of M2/3/4 cars that are never used as they are designed for. Then selling a C/CS version that they should have been to begin with. I find it confusing the variety of hatch back, fake coupes and SUV that deviate from the design image. Then traditional useful sedans and wagons. Imagine the next M4 designed by the team that put together the 1000 superbike model!
Interesting question! I don't know the bike side well enough yet, but the products/models that I have tried are amazing, there is so much choice and seemingly bikes to suit everyone... Maybe that's a discussion I can have with Chris/Baron on his podcast soon!
Brilliant video buddy, really enjoying the GS series. I had a time that I was thinking back and what if's kept creeping in. It's not healthy bud, look forward to what you have. 🫂🫶
Can tell it was very special and nostalgic and sentimental reliving all the memories you had on that special piece of alpine pass
It really was!
Another great video and fair play to you for doing Alpe D'Huez in 1hr 30mins on a Brompton!! Going to go and watch that video now 👍👍
Thank you buddy!

Great to hear man, thank you!
Great video, takes me back to when me and my biking mates did a similar trip around the Alps.....it truly is an epic place to ride 👍👏
Great video, can't beat it.... Best feeling ever riding and taking in everything around you.

Thanks buddy! I did unfortunately burn out a few months after this video was filmed, thankfully on the road to recovery now... Lesson learned!
@@JoeAchilles1
So sorry to hear that Joe but glad to hear you are recovering well.
Stay strong.🙏💪💪
It was very pleasure to watch them bike videos and give me idea for what road trip to do 😊
These trips are teaching you about yourself, but what it’s teaching me is that sometimes I’m a jealous hater.

I used to watch Chris/Barons tour bike videos and he inspired me to do the same years later.... Cheers

Good to see you enjoyed your first proper bike trip! 👍

Wow that sounds amazing, great memories indeed! I need to get out and watch some tour stages this/next year, those riders still blow my mind!

Absolutely!
Great watching your videos. I go on European road trips every summer. Look forward to doing a road trip on a motorbike one day.
Nice house Joe.👍🏾🏡

Bike videos are the best ! Suggestion - possible to allow a little more environmental noise to come through e.g engine sound / surroundings?
Hi Joe, love this video and am looking at getting a GS myself quite soon.

Booked a hotel at the toilet 😂😂

How did you end up racing Brompton’s? Very niche!
The geography. 🏞️🌄

TMI indeed. How's the quick shifter treating you?
I feel I can be me in bike videos. Quick shifter is good above 2nd gear 👌
Perhaps one is getting old, but I'm beginning to prefer the 1250GS to the S1000RR...
Me too, but I don't really fit on the S1000
nice video right until you said you were a cyclist, 😢
Weird comment
