- The cast of the then new sitcom, "Living Single", appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show on August 20, 1993...which was 2 days before the airing of the very first episode. Queen Latifah, Kim Fields, Kim Coles, and Erica Alexander appeared in the interview with Arsenio. Sitting in the audience were Kyle & Overton, i.e., T.C. Carson & John Henton.

Nothing as good as Living Single will ever exist. That show is the best sitcom of all time.
i often wonder why we’ve gone backwards
AMEN
Before Friends, & Golden Girls
@@genevievesmith6123 along with Martin & In Living Color on the FOX network in the early 90s all 3 were funny as hell Tyler Perry needs to watch 10 episodes of all 3 shows
Kim Fields smile can light up a room. 🌞
The audience was really too serious 😂.. The cast was cool with the jokes
sounds like queen latifah enjoyed watching erika’s makeout scenes 😂
Agreed

phylicia, Phylicia J did your cat sit on your keyboard?
This show was ended too soon I really wanted to see them get their happy endings and see more of Synclair and Overton as a married couple and see her really blossom as an actress. Would have loved to see Regine get her dream wedding, Kadajah could have became a mogul with her man by her side, Max and Kyle working as a couple, and Tripp getting a better development and not seen a replacement for Kyle.
They my brother that played Kyle wrong because he didn't want to be doing any "jive turkey" kinda stuff.
Too Black, too strong... so they bumped him at the end of the season (after assuring him they wouldn't) and informed him over the phone that they had written him out of the show.
Just to be clear - when I say "they" I mean the show's producers, NOT Latifah or any other cast member...
@@communitsolutions Yes but that's happens when you down own your thing.
Right and remember Max and Kyle were having a baby after finding out max’s sample was kyles 😂😂 would’ve loved to see that pan out more
Oh Erika...Erika
Im still lost in your Max character. Chocolately-goodness!
Mmm. mmm. mmm!
*AMEN*
No one could take a joke in the audience😂😂🤣
Not at all.
I love these characters. It's insulting that Kyle and Overton were in the audience instead of on stage.
Why they didn't have the guys sit with them? I'm glad that all six of the characters got thier chances to shine!
They all have such beautiful smiles 😍
honestly erica was my favorite character on the show,
Kim was doing the Mary J Blige's dance before the internet 😂😂😂
1993! Friends was taking notes.
More like nbc was taking notes 📝 😆
I miss the 90’s so much. I was in my early 20’s when this show came out. I’m telling you it was a great decade. I lived in Brooklyn and worked in Manhattan and we didn’t call this a black show it was one of the BEST shows on TV. All of the ladies were so beautiful and talented.
Kim Coles is CRAZY. XD
This is the greatest thing I love it.
It doesn’t get better than the 90s the greatest decade with the greatest shows, movies, and music. Oh to go back in time.
Every last one of them is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Love these women.
I remember watching the TV Show Martin and then when that was over Living Single come on miss those days man!
sad to say everything they said about fox ended so quickly after they said all this.
I was just thinking about this...those statements could not have been more ill-timed.
Yup.
Fox used all the incredibly creative Black shows to grow their audience, then dumped them like a three-day old fish dinner...
@@communitsolutions So did Upn with Girlfriends and Moesha AND the WB with the wayans brothers.
Its a shame this show didn't get the press it deserved. Why didn't Oprah have them on? Letterman? Conan? Leno? Like wtf that's whack AF! Major points to Arsenio for giving them some spotlight. Shame on every other TV host. This show was/is so good and more importantly REAL!! Trust me I was a friends fan like 110% but after being introduced to "living single" I cannot express how much BETTER it is! SINCLAIR and OVERTON'S LOVE story was 3000 x better than Monica/Chandler and that train wreck that was Ross/Rachel. Also friends stole so much of their character's personalities (well tried they could not do it better). I could go on and on.. I truly believe had this show gotten the same exposure as friends it would be no competition. Living single made me feel and what's more made me LAUGH in a way that friends couldn't even begin too. Dassit!
The media back then didn’t was see a show like this succeed and it was even said the show would not last past the first season. But the viewership was so high they had to come back with another episode.
Here you have four BEAUTIFUL, STUNNING black QUEEN'S and two handsome black KINGS, their frdshp is pure and raw THESE six friend's we're and still a powerful group. The show REALLY made for how to treat frds, personal & public also how to view yourself . Living Single one of a kind show that can't never be duplicated. 80's&90's .
UGH CAN WE PLEASE FIND A WAY TO TIME TRAVEL!?!? I’m MISS the 90’s😩
they are GORGEOUS ,I mean...just absolutely GORGEOUS
Omg the best show. Miss the 90s. All such beautiful ladies!!!
How many remember when John Henton (Overton) and Kim Fields (Regine) were dating in real life while the show was running and he was dating Kim Coles (Sinclair) on the show lol
Love to have found this interview! The audience at the time didn’t know what they were about to get with this show. These ladies were the best to do it, TIL👏🏽THIS 👏🏽DAY👏🏽
"Living Single is a PHAT show!" lol I loved the 90's and I love this show, thanks for uploading this!
Arsenio's void has never been filled since
💯💯💯
At 4:40 she exposed what is going on back then it’s very scary and it’s so great to see she is doing good but shame on arseno for making it into a joke. It’s very scary !
Wow...that story gave me the creeps. Also yes Aresnio's response was definitely weird
So many Pedophiles in Hollyweird. She has PTSD from that.
Arsenic tried to make light of it, but he could have made a different comment.
I'm glad someone else noticed that because wtf 🙁
I miss this show!! Bring back the 1990’s please, both in television and music!!! And the clothes!!
Probably the most BEAUTIFUL cast of women assembled on television....
This layout blueprint for the girlfriend show
Still my favorite show , and it’s so wild now being the age (mid- late 20’s) as they portrayed on the show gives it that much more kudos they were doing big things in their respective careers .. and I can also relate to the episode where Kyle was turning 30 as I recently experienced it 😫😂
this is gold
The best show of all time
The 90s was the best time ever! And the 80s too even though I didn’t live through the 80s. I want this time back! The culture (black culture) was so much bigger in the 90s! We were pretty much all over tv, the movies and music during this time! I miss the fashion, hairstyles, the malls, even grocery shopping lol.
Both decades are so good.
I LOVED Living Single, I grew up watching it(currently rewatching on Hulu). I like that it premiered on my 3rd birthday August 22, 1993!
Kim Coles...crush!
I loved this show so funny!
Kim Fields slipped and called Queen Latifa by her real name and I never noticed till now. 4:44
ruclips.net/video/IVZ7Zhwrb6A/видео.html they showed her govt name in this too
She always call her Dana
It wasn't a slip. You think her friends call her Queen?
Not a slip. Behind the curtains she goes by Dana.
Why are Overton and Kyle in the audience?? The disrespect...
I loved Living Single and still watch in syndication today. It’s one of my top favorite shows. It was inspiring!
This show got me through the pandemic!! So underrated 🤩
I’m always gone be in 😍 with this show it was TOO REAL they really were tight. All Very beautiful all of em❤️❤️💯
Made history with that show ❤them down
This show made my childhood so happy😘🙄🥺🌈
90s Black Women...... The Best
90s was great love seeing this
This brings back so many memories from my childhood, especially after seeing FOX 59 WXIN Indianapolis flash in the corner. I faithfully watched Living Single, Martin & even Power Rangers on that very network when I lived in Indianapolis as a child.
My favourite show, the very best. Always make you laugh .

Here’s some trivia the very first house they were in was the house of family matters
Yep! I didn't realize this at the time, but after watching the show in more recents years, it was the first thing I've noticed!
@@gingersnap8790FOX did a smart thing 1st by having Martin & Living Single first on Sunday nights then move both shows to Thursday's in the early 90s cause Martin & Pam would be roasting each other
Thx for this! It was good to see their chemistry and excitement. My #3 FAV show of all time.
You're welcome, and I agree...this was one of those great 90s shows, indeed, and, I was thinking...it's hard to pick 1 favorite character (at least for me) because each character was unique and hilarious in his/her own way. That's rare because for me, normally, I can choose 1 (or 2) favorite characters from most shows I have watched.
3:11 That's Tracy Edmunds, Babyface's ex in the foreground. 4:41 When Kim F is describing how they share changing rooms, she references "Dana" which is Queen Latifah's real first name.
Everybody knows Queen Latifah's real name. You're not special.
Wow. The show premiered on my birthday.
✨🌷Beautiful Queens🌹✨
this was nice to watch

Arsenio is so awkward in this interview
Its like he aint feeling them.
you think so? i havent seen the show in years to tell the difference. but he seems to have the hots for kim fields. maybe he’s distracted.
I wonder if Max's thing on professionalism wasn't a dig at Arsenio. His qs sucked and had no energy.
I don't really feel like it's Arsenio as much as it is the audience. A lot of the jokes went clear over the audiences head and I think that might've thrown him off a little bit, if anything.
@@LDLeDay Agreed I think it's the crowd and not so much Arsenio. But I don't think the jokes went over their heads. I just think they didn't find the jokes all that funny. 90s audience ain't gonna fake it all the time like they do now. You got to earn their laughs.
Gorgeous.
My name is Joe Michael givargidze end. I am here too say these beautiful black women these women define a whole generation of they. 90. S. Love these people. When will we. See a. Reboot of. Living single Joe Michael givargidze like on this comunt if. U agree 👍 Joe Michael givargidze

Is the band playing Paula Abdul’s The Way That You’re Love Me at the beginning?
+Husam Elzien
Yes it is. Paula also appeared on that episode of The Arsenio Hall Show (8/20/1993). Babyface appeared on the show as well.
@@RestlessRick ... That was one jam-packed show that night!
11:32 Is That Tracey Edmonds?

Babyface was also a guest on the show that evening, so that must be Tracey.
Definitely her. Good eye!
