@@ClearWater7.62 We don’t have any 6oz snares but we have non-weighted versions that you can add weight to. You’ll be okay casting with the rod you currently have. Majority of the people using crab snaring rods aren’t rated for over 6oz. The okuma crab snare special is rated for up to 8oz. Just like the Daiwa Beef Stick it’s up to 6oz but the backbone on it is sturdy enough to handle even a 1lb snare.
You can catch Dungeness crabs in the San Francisco bay, however, you cannot retain it. You can’t pick and choose what crabs go on your snare and you can retain red rock crabs within the San Francisco Bay all year round.

I have the 11' Penn Squadron III and rod is only rated at 6oz max. Is okay to cast the durasnare, 8oz? You guys don't make 6oz snares?
