Story:
Zahina is the daughter of the leader the Iqbal tribe that settle in Thornthwaite 15 years ago. She lives with her father, older sister, older brother and his family. She spends most of her time doing light work on the family farm and trying to avoid her brother who see her a leach.
Her father lets her sleep in and take long naps because of the “jinn” that is possessing and keeps her up at night. Her brother thinks she is BSing and is just promiscuous. In actuality she suffers from DID (dissociative identity disorder), brought on by stress from extreme verbal abuse by him. While not always intentionally she does use this “jinn” (Shahrazad) to get out of things and explain away things she is at the center of, but does not remember. While Zahina is not fully aware of the risk of going into the forest, she does have a desire to make a name for herself and actuality contribute to her tribe. Shahrazad on the other hand just wants to study the plants of the forest.
Here are some notes/guidelines for Zahina's condition.
1: Like most who “claims” to have DID Zahina does not retain the memories her other personalities have, so she keeps a Q&A journal handy.
2: Zahina has one other personality, she calls Sinbad, but he rarely shows.
3. Zahina’s triggers for Shahrazad are entering REM sleep and hearing the word leech. Entering REM sleep also triggers her back to herself. Sinbad thought, is a PTS trigger
4. Anything that other two personalities can do or know, Zahina can as well, she just doesn’t think she can.
5. It’s very possible that Zahina just made-up Shahrazad and Sinbad just as a coping mechanism or an excuse to do bolder things and not take full blame.
