I think that most people, especially myself, based on my experience have difficulty & many challenges fulfilling the 3rd level; and the irony of that is the fact that I'm not a very difficult person to get along with. All the other levels desk to come really easy for me.
This lecture sounds more corporate, rather than like the deep philosophical subject that it is. It is delivered the way you might hear it in a hotel banquet room, or business board room. This is Maslow's Hierarchy Lite, shall we say?
Every human will had a different needs according to the each individuals lives but on a generalisation. Abraham Maslow has teach us the basics at humans needs. In my opinion.
a big thanks to the maker of the video. You have such a soothing voice. this video is really helpful to me and many others. May God bless this helpful soul.😇
The pyramid is very accurate and I see it on my own life . I want to find my life partner more than anything but my more urgent need is that of basic living necessities , namely a good enough paying job so that I can meet my very basic needs of food (enough of it) , shelter , etc. and until I can have this overwhelming stress of my financial needs satisfied, it's very difficult yet if not impossible to focus on trying to meet someone suitable . When your self esteem and confidence is in the toilet., it's near impossible to present your best possible self to a potential mate. Most men do not want a partner who doesn't have a job or a good enough job so it almost makes the guy wonder if she is just looking for someone to rescue her from her financial distress. Money and enough of it is absolutely essential to living the kind of life that affords travel and other experiences that are not free unless a person is at peace with not being able to do anything that would require money . And almost everything that makes memories worth looking back on comes at a cost . If you're satisfied with only taking walks, going to the library because it's free, the beach, and trying to scour the papers for local events that are free (assuming they are of any interest to you), then it's fine to only make enough to get by on but if you want to experience more in life, making enough money is a non negotiable thing. What's more, even the free things in life aren't really free if you have to have a car and therefore enough money for gas to get there. Bottom line is that most people need money to achieve a measure of happiness that can't be achieved with no money and to further their lives in areas of career and personal artistic endeavors .
So true!...Hey, I am from the OC too! I also am sad of the fact that when you have "social needs" yet you can't get a bf, or even a friend to hang out... And your ex wants nothing to do with you.
it's so obvious from your writing that you're a woman, which is hella cool reading your perspective😁 But I get it. I feel you may have went a little too deep for most of us, but for those of us who actually take the time to really read what you have written,we will get it
JG Alegria thanks for your reply . I’ll click on the links you provided to read this weekend as well as your comment more thoroughly , which I find to be very thoughtful , thank you .
Robert U. Folks,jr. I’ll take it as a compliment ...I wonder what about my writing gave it away if I didn’t talk about what I think men didn’t want ? Lol
This is a fantastic video, you speak so succinctly and clearly get your ideas across. I was always befuddled by the "Esteem" portion. Now it makes complete sense, "how you perceive yourself".
I just want to say thank you very much your all your videos. I think they are brilliant, very useful and I think you explain the theories very well. The ones I have looked at are Maslow's needs theory, Herzberg's theory, Adam's equity theory and Vroom's expectancy theory. My only constructive criticism is that you have not evaluated the theories. Although Maslow and Herzberg's theories make sense and are intuitively appealing, they have not been empirically supported. This is of course a problem when seeking to implement them in management practices. Nevertheless, you have described them very well.
Thank you for the constructive criticism. My goal here really was to describe them as opposed to evaluate them. With that being said I've seen several academic papers that independently corroborate Herzberg's findings. So like all things, I'm sure you can find evidence in support of one over the other. I do think though that this would be an interesting topic to cover in the future.
This is glorious, I have been researching "goal setting for students" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Farnicaas Switcher Capitalisation - ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got great success with it.
Could I say that it is possible to see cases i witch the levels switch it's hierarchy? for instance; could a person worry more about his/her social needs rather than his/her physiological needs? Thanks a lot for you videos, they are really useful.
That's your definition of esteem? Luxury vehicles, the zip code of your house, your clothing? Try confidence, respect for your self, respect for and from others. You should not be allowed to give advice to people. This is a perfect example of why we are developing so many issues in our society.
my life was happier without all these teachings. let me live my life on my on terms. i don't want anybody's teachings. let me do what i like. that's all.
So the first and foremost priority is to ensure that I alone get 100% of the money asap. I alone will take 100% of the money. I alone will take 100% of the money. As long as that doesn't happen I am putting everything else on hold.
So that means money fullfils the lower 4 needs and is a pre-requisite for the highest level. Therefore, the first and foremost need for me is to take possession of 100% of the money and as long as that doesn't happen put everything else on hold.
Hierarchy of Needs: A core principle of Maslow's theory of motivation, which presents the revolutionary claim that when it comes to needs, first things first, or always drive with your horse before your cart. Thus we must achieve lower needs (food, shelter, safety) before we can achieve higher needs, such as belonging, self-esteem, or self-actualization. Thus, before you can bond with your bowling league buddies (belonging needs) and win that coveted trophy (self-actualization), it is useful to first not be a homeless, starving vagrant. from Dr. Mezmer’s World of Bad Psychology, found on an internet near you!

I am deeply disappointed people never discovered WHAT BUDDHA SAYED LONG BEFORE Maslow! Even developed people usually DO NOT KNOW, WHAT BUDDHA SAYED about the hierarchy of human (quasi-higher knowledged) life. The first level of the hierarchy is: NIRMANAKAYA as physis as Greek says, natura.Biological needs. Instincs, bodies drives. Physiological level of beengs. The 2nd level of the pyramind is SAMBOGAKAYA which means: ration, intllectual abilites. The next level is DHARMAKAYA and this is the world of ideas, thoughts, plans, whises, artistic impules too. The fourth étage is the NIRGUNA BRAHMAN = pure consciousness, it may not comprehemable with only rationalism. It is near to be equal with the Maslow pyramid's "transcendental needs." Searching for meaning of life. Realise the HIGHER system of COSMIC life. The final level of the source of the pure information SAGUNA BRAHMAN, it looks like the absolute light, energy BEYOND thoughts.
Maslow's decipher was categorically fine to us until Jesus Christ corrected him. With God the order of life's needs was reduced to two things only by King: which are His Kingdom & His righteousness.
i find it odd that the 'esteem' level is attained by superficial things like the company you work for, car you drive etc rather than loving yourself for your character, personality and living by your values. Isn't this supposed to be based in psychology?
T D agree! I have an assignment and it makes no sense to me because to me self esteem is loving your self so im quite lost, these needs have different definitions
Needs for entertainment- if you play music because your friends are playing, and you want to be accepted into that social group, then it’s a “social needs”. However, if you decide to compose music ( or write songs ) and enjoy music and entertainment for your own enjoyment, then you are in self-actualization stage.
safety first , you don't want to eat or drink if your in immediate danger being chased by a predator human or otherwise . but I guess you need to of eaten and drank beforehand so you have energy to escape or fight . and if your alive you must of had nourishment before the attack....so yeah just a thought .....
