  • In this one, we make a slight detour on our South Dakota trip to head over to Teepee Canyon to look for fortification agates! We didn't have very much time hunt, but we figured we might as well spend an hour or two doing some surface collecting while we were in the area. I am so happy we did, because we found some fantastic material for what little time we had to look, including some prime cabbing material, some calcite crystal specimens, a few specimens that are perfect for polishing, and the best Teepee canyon agate I have ever found! This agate is fantastic! I hoped we would find a few good specimens, but I certainly was not expecting to find a monster with multicolored fortifications! That one find was worth the entire trip! After we make our way back to the shop, we feed some of our finds to the slab saw to find out what's inside! I hope you all enjoy, and I will have another one out soon!

Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: I love those colors! The vermillion, tangerine, and sunset gold banded together around pockets of watery quartz. So beautiful!

You and Alexis hit the jackpot with those TeePees! I can't believe the lack of snow in SD for this time of year, but MN is no better. Dry as a bone here. Happy hunting, everyone!

    Cool finds.
    I live in S.D.
At 10:56 in the video, above your right thumb, that little plant looking thing on the limestone is called dendritic limestone. There are pieces at Teepee with that all over the limestone and quite collectible.

That place has a lot of history there was a event that took place and changed the landscape, it was more robust with trees and brush and small to mid size animals easily findable and large ones. This event was one of the pivotal extreme radicalization resulting in the count of a unknown death total becoming into everlasting territorialism, war, genocide or clarification and communication strategies and motivational tactile adaptations of the Aboriginal (First Nations or Native Americans) or migratory peoples from Northern or Southern Regions with commonality of understanding surviving in the land together and sharing life and living despite any past conflicts. The death toll was or has been in the millions and was prior to the industrial revolution or rather track or train or oil boom. Those lands have seen much death of people said to be like ghost's are wind settlers. Those that remained around or missed the lethal prolonged multi-event over time of 30 to 50 years. This drove those that were seen or singled out as expendable or indifferent pushed settlers to undergo recognition of others around and the mystery of the Natives. Many became close if not became interdependent and were able to achieve relations, families, and teachings regardless of skin or location and miscommunication intent.
