You don't need to be older to appreciate Pele. For me all you need to do is watch the highlights of the 1970 world cup to see a distillation of the Pele genius. Even his near misses are supremely interesting and captivating. He does things no other player can do, with grace and beauty.

You don't need to be older to appreciate Pele. For me all you need to do is watch the highlights of the 1970 world cup to see a distillation of the Pele genius. Even his near misses are supremely interesting and captivating. He does things no other player can do, with grace and beauty.
Cancer is nasty. I'm glad his suffering is over, truly an inspiration, that guy gave every other young kid the dream that they can achieve what he achieved, all the while coming up from a humble background.
I hope we also remember how humble and humanitarian he was. He represented the best of the human race, as an ambassador for UNESCO. I don't think too many modern players would take timeout to bring attention to the sufferings of others. I had an opportunity to meet him when he visited Uganda. May he rest in peace.
As brazilian, I'm sad. Not because I was a great fan of him, but because what he meant to the football. He inspired generations, here in Brazil and around the world. The sport, not only football, can save lifes. For good, as human beings, we need these inspirations. I hope that the future of football could be great, happy and truly capable to join peaple around the world, as he wished it was, and as he did. It's time to Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar and Mbape take the place and turn themselves a inspiration. Kids are coming, and they need a dream, and if the dream have to do with football, so let it be.

Personally I want to see messi as the GOAT because he is in my generation but the real GOAT of all time and transcended FIFA to new global heights is the one and only Pele. His skills transcended all of sports and made fifa the most popular event because of him
