@lightbreeze183 Headlights do brake, either from physical force or... Cost of a single Matrix headlight for my 2015 A6 C7 is around 3500 euros. So... Yeah, Nah.
@@MilosMandic1987 Yep, I honestly don't think I'm ever gonna ditch old fashioned halogen yellow headlights, whereas you can change lightbulb yourself on the fly anywhere instantly with almost no tools required + it costs you around 20 euros per corner for orginal oem one. And if light crash do occurs it's not gonna cost ya arm and a leg. All those fancy light work are just a gimmick.
The new front grilles look infinitely better than the older, rounded one, and that front light bar looks great! So did Audi give up on the orange for S models, like the old etron S’ brake calipers and side badges?
Umm the pre facelift e-tron had a very angular grille. There was nothing round in it. I have the picture in front of my face and I can’t see anything round.
@@mihnealazar7039 Rounded in the sense of being curved vertically, as seen from a profile view, versus this new one now being flat vertically, similar to the Q4 e-tron and the ICE models.
So they put chrome strips on side windows and put tons of matt chrome parts on the interior but just can’t on the grill cause it’s unsustainable? Man those grey painted rings will just look like a black slab out of a one meter distance.
Got an Etron S sportback for 12 months with the virtual mirrors. While I loved the technology, I didn’t like the screen positioning, especially on the driver side. Plus, the flat image on the screen doesn’t give you deep and perspective. Also had issues with “fog” on the screens

While they’re range is still not ideal, it’s improving every year, and even so the current range of most electric vehicles, combined with overnight charging and fast charging on the go make it quite “usable” for 90+% of the population that do have a place to charge at home.
@@kyleburns9439 where the fack will peoples recharge if they are living in apartment in building?? they will throw cable of few hundreds meter on parking place !? of course not they will pay expensive electricity on superchargers !! so if you wait for improve every year that means you will must buy every year new one to get better range !!? untill something better dont change shitty lithium batteries which have shitty range, shitty long recharge just like shitty longevity and preetty high price this vehicles are basically scam and only good for 10% of high class peoples with above average incomes
After a few facelifts and redesigns that were questionable improvements over the cars they replaced, it looks like Audi's design mojo may be back. This looks exceptional, and the improvements to range are much-needed. If I were in the market for a big electric SUV, this and the Polestar 3 would be on my shortlist.
Still a compromised platform tho. Tesla X, polestar, 3 Lotus Eletra, Nio EL7, Xpeng G9 all bespoke lightweight platform with great range and superior performance to this yesteryear upgrade..
Yeah, well, I like the Audi. 🤷🏾♀ Plus, I live in the U.S., and four out of the six cars listed aren't available here. And given that Tesla still can't get its shit together, a Model X isn't something I'd even consider.
I had a chance to drive 2022 E tron sportback for a week and I can most definitely tell you that was the most comfortable car I have ever driven The reason being : 1. Car had air suspension 2. B&o surround speakers 3. Massaging seats 4. Capacitive infotainment & ac controls Only 2 negatives I had with the car were : 1.208 miles range on a full charge 2.had to return it after one week..lol
@@abraxastulammo9940 meaning they still use genuine leather, not some recycled material. I'e tried recycled seats in ID.3. Bad. Poor breathability. Alcantara is good, I prefer ventilated leather by far. As for tech info, I think that's all they have for now to say. These are the differences compared to current e-tron. Makeup, range lift + digital matrix, as I see it.
Nice update, significantly better looking front/grill area. The interior is superb and the Sportback in that blue with those rims is just stunning. Their 'chrome' excuse is complete bullshit. Had many Audi's over the years, but that comment is pathetic.

Have the e-tron 55 with digital mirrors. I like it's placing and functioning, dont have any issues with determing distance of other cars after a short learning curve. The warning signs it shows with upcoming traffic are quite helpful for my wife :). Although there are some fog issues with start up in fall, when heating the car it is swiftly resolved. Driving the e-tron is really comfortabel and relaxing.
I like the aggressive look of the ice Q8 I hope the RSQ8 e Tron will have more aggressive looks like the ice model, I liked the headlights on that more, now it looks like RS3, RS4 , S8, S6
I’m a bit disappointed to be honest. I have a 2020 E-Tron that’s due for changing in June and was hoping that the ‘facelifted’ version, which is all this is, would have a few more differences - I was really hoping for a few physical buttons for climate, heated seats etc… I know you can use voice but it struggles to understand Yorkshire! 😂

@@nosoupforyou425 Sure... if you drive alone. No way I would say people in the back could sit comfortable in the I-pace. AC charging is also locked at 7,4KW, while E-tron can charge at 11KW. On top of that, I sat in the I-pace the software didn't feel particularly fast. But maybe it was an old model.
Chrome plating causes a disproportionate amount of toxic waste, even if it's made in a way that causes no airborne toxins. Now, if that really means anything from a luxury car brand is a completely different thing since surely they have other processes that are worse.
1:05 "Chrome is not sustainable." What BS Audi is talking about :/ They can also use Stainless steel or other metal materials, if sustainability is the problem. The problem is money and how to make most profit by using the cheapest materials, cheap software and low pay rate engineers :'(
Chromeplating causes masses of toxic waste, but coming from a carmaker eliminating chrome is just PR, it's like the least they can do out of all the wasteful practices.
Nice looking indeed. I still can’t get on the bandwagon with electric vehicles YET, as the charging systems and range are still not where they need to be, which is why i opted for a new SQ8. I sold my beloved Q7 and the new SQ8 is actually returning 18 mpg average! The Q7 was not bad at 14 mpg but more power when you need it and better economy cant be a bad thing. I mostly drive in town and tend to follow the speed limits even in dynamic mode. When the range gets up to 450 or so and the broken charging points are somehow eliminated i will get one. Thanks for the review!👍👍
I hear you on the range but I decided that for my driving habits (which appear similar to yours), it was worth making the jump and I’m glad I did. I own the original e-Tron (July 2019) and I have had zero problems with charging as I am mainly a local driver (50 mile radius). Sometimes I have to charge every other day instead of once a week when I drive more frequently but that’s about it. Plenty of public chargers in my area as well (I live in and around a large U.S. city).
We have, here in Australia, a huge cattle industry; we export them overseas, we use their hides as well as their meat, and have no problem sitting on them in cars or sofas! We do camels also, they were left behind by the cameleers who opened up the desert routes in the 19th century.

I think Audi have really shot themselves in the foot with their EV naming structure. While Mercedes and BMW have a a simple prefix to attach to all their previous names (EQ/i respectively), Audi are stuck with this awkward E-tron word. Having an E-tron and E-tron GT implies they are very similar cars, when they couldn't be more different. Then they have the Q4 which is only an E-tron. And now they're sticking it onto their regular ICE names?
in south america we can have the e-trons with the mirror cameras. found quite hard to get used to, you just see whats on the screen, can't move yourself to see other angles like a regular mirror.. also i guess now finally Audi is starting to sorting out the naming problem in all linups
Best review of Audi Q8 e-tron. I just wished they changed to a single screen. I passed on the original e-tron as I did not like the split screens. I liked seeing all wheels available and agree the black wheels are the ones to get. No one else has shown the lighting carpet and the blinking light for someone on the road. Thank you for your review. Well done.

I've got those camera mirrors and absolutely don't like them. Not only are there quality issues (I've had to to have them replaced 3 times because of condensation, which means you can't see anything anymore, carwash tears pieces off the mirror), but they're just not as good as regular mirrors. Less real estate to show you what's going on, after 3 years the looking a little more down position is still awkward and at nights it's more difficult to soo anything than regular mirrors. They do look a bit cooler than regular mirrors, but I wouldn't have them again.
I hope the price of the Q8 in Australia is far more competitive than the fat etron currently. My suspicion is it will cost more. Audi are pricing themselves out of the market in Australia.
So not much changed from the original etron apart from a few new features and a face-lift. Batteries are slightly bigger but is the car using any lighter materials to bring down the overall weight?
EVs are just not appeasing to the average user. The prices are too high, the range anxiety, the charging hassle, the cars are very heavy, the materials for batteries are not sustainable... and not to mention the latest issues with energy prices/stability globally - its an even bigger NO for EV. But Hybrid - YES please
I have a 55 Etron. Great car. Although the new model does not go far enough for me to change. Sure some efficiency gains and great looking paint and wheels.... but I think Ill wait for the Q6 etron... just hope it has air suspension
From what I have read, the Q6 will have air suspension. I bet you get the benefit of it in your current etron (as I do) and I think Audi recognise that it is needed to manage the extra weight.
I got my etron-s a week ago. Driving is like a rollercoaster which you control yourself. Never had so much fun in a car. However, you should have seen my face as i noticed that my 100k car won't fold in the mirrors automatically when i lock the car.
Hm it doesnt? Do you have the normal mirrors or the camera mirrors? Usually u can set this in the Audi MMI menu, Car -> Locking (or something) -> Automatic Fold Mirrors

yes, of course you can also say "whataboutism"; but in this case, the leather industry _clearly_ does more harm to animals and humans (and especially in that quantity of materials) than some small Audi rings. I mean it is good that they think about Chrome replacement, defo! But the animal skin issue is so much larger and needs prio1 focus as for materials.
At least in my country, the new E-tron will be quite a lot cheaper than the old one despite upgraded technology. I think THAT excites me far more than all the rather minor improvements.
Best EV in the market so far in terms of design, practicality, and technology advancement and almost 0 things u need to learn if you are a audi driver.
Nice looking vehicles but what have they done with their brand logo and the name? From a few metres away, it looks like the Audi rings have fallen off, and on closer inspection you have a flat 2D thin grey line denoting the rings. As for the e-tron name on the side, black gloss text on a black gloss background! It's almost as if they don't want to be associated with the vehicle, and is something you'd see in TV programmes where they cover the brand logo.

@@autogefuehl It seems so - you can either get the "Nordico" leatherette or a wool cloth. Polestar still offers leather, but it is very expensive as they probably source it from the best producers.
I dislike the new front logo. They should have made it 3D like the back logo, at least a little bit. And if the logo itself would illuminate, that would make it look so good and futuristic.
Original e-tron is such a nice car! This update seems to fix many of the drawbacks. Looks ok (needs dark/black "grille" though), unlike it's german rivals. Looking forward to comparisions to the Polestar 3 and the EX90 (very carefully selected reveal date by Audi btw...)
This is the same vehicle. They updated some of the looks, like a refresh, and added the Q8 name to it. Since they've been adding many more Etron models, they needed to put more of a name on this. So, you actually can call your Etron an electric Q8 since it now officially is.
@@alfrredd It's based on the same platform as the Q8, so they just updated the name to match. It was probably easiest to see from the interior in the pre-facelift one. The Q6 will come later as a larger cousin to the Q4.
Looks more plastic than ever and I do not like that middle light.. what a gimmick. Front looks like MB EV. Looks like a big plastic A3. Not their best work while batteries and charging still not quite there yet. Ill give it another generationn. Maybe they dial down the touch screen a nudge also which would be appreciated.
I wonder if EVs will ever feature artificial engine noise. There you have such a great vehicle but it sounds like a golf cart. It's just an app and speakers in fake exhaust pipes. Suddenly your EV 'speaks' Ferrari, Bentley, Volkswagen or Hyundai. Or in this particular case RSQ8 Would be fun.
Why is leather a big issue? Isn't it a waste product if not utilised? Foe a balanced environment then we need crop growing with livestock to have a full nutrient circle. Without livestock then chemicals produced from oil are required. So no meat is not a realistic sustainable future..

The new front grilles look infinitely better than the older, rounded one, and that front light bar looks great! So did Audi give up on the orange for S models, like the old etron S’ brake calipers and side badges?

I sold my beloved Q7 and the new SQ8 is actually returning 18 mpg average! The Q7 was not bad at 14 mpg but more power when you need it and better economy cant be a bad thing. I mostly drive in town and tend to follow the speed limits even in dynamic mode. When the range gets up to 450 or so and the broken charging points are somehow eliminated i will get one. Thanks for the review!👍👍
thanks keep following !
Plenty of public chargers in my area as well (I live in and around a large U.S. city).
You mostly drive in town and averaging 18mpg? With only in-town driving im averaging 13mpg on a regular 23’ Q8 😂
We have, here in Australia, a huge cattle industry; we export them overseas, we use their hides as well as their meat, and have no problem sitting on them in cars or sofas! We do camels also, they were left behind by the cameleers who opened up the desert routes in the 19th century.

In general, depending on the animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat would be the reason no.1 in other cases, the hide remains one of the most profitable body parts. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you accept it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and destroys the environment, you make them more profitable. Also, if you turn the argument around "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize how biased the argument is. After all, would you care for which exact body part you would be murdered? Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. For the alternative, you can either use artificial fabrics which can be made from recyclables (we have already shown a lot of vehicles that use great fabric seats from PET-bottles etc.) or more and more also from plant-based materials (like Pinatex or Desertex or Miriam). And even if you would create a seat completely with petroleum without a recycling share, the amount of oil being used for that is nothing in comparing just to once fueling up your car. By ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) %. So it is the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable.
In practical reasons, fabric or microfibre seats are just more useful. You do not sweat in summer and it is not cold in winter. And if you want the slick look or something to wipe clean easier, that is possible with animal free leatherette, even in ventilated options.
And there are also new leatherette materials available which are superior in every aspect: ruclips.net/video/u94YXJ72UTA/видео.html

Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. Glad Audi is actually committed to EVs for real. Unlike some competitors from Bavaria.

First here!
Lovely EV!! Good job, Audi!
Review gets a big👏🏿from me
cheers! Please recommend =)
11:40 😂 pardon?
Remove chrome but adding excessive lighting components everywhere, you call that eco-friendly? The repair cost for two headlights can buy a VW golf.
And now they're sticking it onto their regular ICE names?
yeah agree that e-tron naming was a bad idea
Excellent review!
thanks !
in south america we can have the e-trons with the mirror cameras. found quite hard to get used to, you just see whats on the screen, can't move yourself to see other angles like a regular mirror.. also i guess now finally Audi is starting to sorting out the naming problem in all linups
Well done.
thanks keep tuning i !
If I’m paying that much for a luxury brand I want Leather!

I wish that the interior would be better, the ICE Q8 interior was amazing and the exterior as well. The new one doesn't do justice.
BMW F15 / X5 had this flash of light on pedestrians available since 2014 with nightvision package…
Thanks for the feedback! I found them terrible as well
I hope the price of the Q8 in Australia is far more competitive than the fat etron currently. My suspicion is it will cost more. Audi are pricing themselves out of the market in Australia.
I LOVE THIS MAN
thanks =)
So not much changed from the original etron apart from a few new features and a face-lift. Batteries are slightly bigger but is the car using any lighter materials to bring down the overall weight?
Consumption has been decreased by 9% even with a bigger battery due to more efficient drivetrain and better aerodynamics👍
That fast charging is not very fast for a face lift version.. e.g. an EV6 tops 241kw versus this 150 kw..
You may as well get used to it because EVs are going to take over, like it or not.
The black alloys “look aggressive and black” 😂
Now it turns out, that Q7 is a way bigger car than Q8 e-tron
Finally, an electric car that doesnt have a ridiculous front grille.
so it is actually more of orignal Etron facelift rather than new Q8, because it doesn't look as Q8 at all
Yes etron facelift
The digital mirros are horrible. No depth perception on a screen when held up against an actual mirror. Tried driving with it HUGE FLOP in my opinion
@@autogefuehl Normal mirrors. Yes i checked the MMI settings. No Mirror options in there.
@@michaelnardmann3208 Keep looking, it's there
Hmmm tough choice. I was gonna reserve a Polestar 3, then this came. I really like the SQ8 Sportback etron.
It's a nice piece of engineering. Though, the colour would not be my first choice...
12:08 wait a minute the Audi rings are not lit? wtf 😂😂😂😂

Autogefühl has their soap box, and they're entitled to it. I'm not pro leather interiors, but I'm not against them either.
So they worry about chrome then fill the car with totally unnecessary slaughtered animal. Shameful!
yes, of course you can also say "whataboutism"; but in this case, the leather industry _clearly_ does more harm to animals and humans (and especially in that quantity of materials) than some small Audi rings. I mean it is good that they think about Chrome replacement, defo! But the animal skin issue is so much larger and needs prio1 focus as for materials.
I own an SQ8 and this electric version looks comparable except for the HIDEOUS mirrors! I won’t ever spend money on them
Yes the car is beautiful but can we take a moment to appreciate how nice German number plates are. UK ones looks so ugly in comparison.
Uhhh in the Netherlands we have yellow number plates. 🥲
At least in my country, the new E-tron will be quite a lot cheaper than the old one despite upgraded technology. I think THAT excites me far more than all the rather minor improvements.
I so HATE full width light bars, talk about car designers being sheep....haptic buttons and full width light bars...horrid horrid horrid 🙂
Those facias look very familiar. I googled it and found that they are IDENTICAL to the Hyundai Ioniq Plug-in hybrid.
Hyundai designer was the ex head designer of Audi.
Audi, definitely must make the sports back with a powerful internal combustion engine.
Best EV in the market so far in terms of design, practicality, and technology advancement and almost 0 things u need to learn if you are a audi driver.
better looking than the ix and the eqe
Nice looking vehicles but what have they done with their brand logo and the name? From a few metres away, it looks like the Audi rings have fallen off, and on closer inspection you have a flat 2D thin grey line denoting the rings. As for the e-tron name on the side, black gloss text on a black gloss background! It's almost as if they don't want to be associated with the vehicle, and is something you'd see in TV programmes where they cover the brand logo.
I don't like the audi rings in Grey or white. It looks cheap. Why not chrome? They, still use chrome on other parts.
Of course leather can be fully sustainable.

Did they? I am not sure if they still offer it as an option?

dammit, up until now I was able to tell myself that my 2019 e-tron was an electric Q8. Can't now that there is an actual electric Q8
This is the same vehicle. They updated some of the looks, like a refresh, and added the Q8 name to it. Since they've been adding many more Etron models, they needed to put more of a name on this. So, you actually can call your Etron an electric Q8 since it now officially is.
I think it would have been better named Q6 because this looks nothing like the Q8 and it's a lot smaller, so that's a bit weird.
@@alfrredd I think (but am not 100% certain) that the new Q8e and the vintage e-Tron are the same size (interior and exterior).
The 2019 E-tron was already based on the Q8 platform so they just updated the name to match.
Car looks good but probably better to ditch the moustache!

7:43 alcantara steering wheels are nice unless u sweat from your hands
Yeah, and they wear incredibly poorly. Fine for a sports car you rarely drive, not fine for a high mileage daily driver.
Not just sweat, but mostly sweat. All humans secret oils from their hands. Its a terrible choice for touch surfaces e.g., steering wheel or shifter.
I like recycled materials in cars. But considering 5-10% of cowhide is already thrown into landfill it also makes sense to use whatever waster materials are available rather than throw it away.

Or imagine someone robs you on the street and beats you to death - would it matter to you if it was for your Smartphone or for your purse?
The animal agriculture industry occupies 2/3 of all farm land on this planet which cannot be used for direct human nutrition then. That is extremely inefficient. The no.1 cause for deforestation is the animal industry. It is also one of the biggest contributor to climate change. The amount of land, resources, energy and water being used is beyond imagination.
If you are interested in how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: ruclips.net/video/tkjCAmq1_8E/видео.html
Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally.
More and more natural materials are rising: ruclips.net/video/nRSsXEnwHDo/видео.html or ruclips.net/video/yG3z7m6UqNg/видео.html
Using animal skin on seats is a major issue of animal rights, human rights - and after all it is just common sense what is better both for the environment and just more practical and more luxurious for the customer. We cannot change what we have bought in the past (that also counts for ourselves of course!), but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future.
@@autogefuehl wow, thanks for the clarification.
