Really good to see so many new EV models available and that they look like normal cars. Automakers have been making their EVs weird looking for the last few years and now you can't really tell them from the gas model unless you see exhaust ports in the back.
We're long time Audi owners and were looking forward to the Q8 E tron but decided to change direction and go towards either the 2024 E Class plug in hybrid due out later this year or the 5 series plug in hybrid. TBD basically. Why the backwards step? I think the plug in hybrid architecture will suit our driving patterns and use cases better ultimately. 60 miles of purely electric range is enough to do the daily driving ad infinitum. It's perfect actually. And when we need to hit to road for an occasional road trip we're set with the petrol motor. Would love that 385 horsepower diesel hybrid that's available in Europe but it's probably not to be. The other reason is we're kind of at a point where it's almost better to just push a button and let the car drive you autonomously in most common scenarios (like just cruising on the highway or being stuck in traffic). The E class can do it and we'll see about the 5 series I guess. Audi is still a little lagging in this department which is ironic since, well, vorsprung durch technik and all. Still love Audi but both MB and Bmw had stepped out their game big time for 2024 it looks like.
Nice review by TFLEV. I can't help but to think that it was a little bit of a miss to send a reviewer who has NEVER driven the original "Fat" e-tron. Not knowing the Audi regen logic is a little awkward in a "review". But nice content. Love seeing Audi reviewed. (I also THINK that the Q8 e-tron has an 11kW onboard charger though it comes with a 9.6 kW portable evse.)
@@Stuka87 He did a "Good job". You are correct. But I think that this channel is run as a profession. Not a hobby. They should have either sent the right person or gotten Alex some time behind the wheel of a "Fat" e-tron. And I stand corrected, it appears that the new Q8 e-tron does have only a 9.6 kW onboard charger standard. So he was correct about that. TY
I think the Q8 makes the most sense when you consider its base trim or maybe the bottom two trims because once it starts getting close to 83-85k I'd much rather have the Polestar 3. On paper anyway it seems like a much better EV SUV for not much more money.
Check my math, but quick calc with that battery remaining at 213nm left and 2.4mi/kWh with a 114kW battery pack you’re indicator is showing 77.850877% battery left and with a so divide 213 by that percentage and 100% would only show 273.6mi range… or 274mi which is terrible compared to what we expect with an update… my original etron only gets about 213mi range and if I do a road trip it’s more like 185-190mi…
@tflev FWIW you need to have high battery charge so that Boost is available, set the drive mode to Dynamic, and release the brake whilst already pressing the accelerator to get the fastest 0-60mph. The car really wants to stick to comfort driving as much as possible 😅 FWIW #2, the 55 Q8 is ~0.5s slower than a MYLR (Audi's 5.6 is 0-62 as it's converted from 0-100km/h, not 0-60 like Tesla, so 5.4 vs 4.8. The SQ8 does 0-60 in 4.35s per spec.) None of that matters though, max acceleration is uncomfortable for passengers, as an e-tron owner what everyone appreciates is the ride quality and air suspension practicality.
We're definitely in a bizarre world when we are kvetching about an almost 3-ton, $90k car, having *only* a 5.4s 0-60 time. Sustainability should be about more than just the motive energy source.
Tesla is only good for its Charging network. Build quality is not good, and unless you want Full self driving... there's no reason you should spend 80k on a tesla.
114 kWh, holy moly! e-tron, now Q8 e-tron is good car, but for the money, does not feel at all special. It looks just like their ICE cars, perfect for people who want to spend $85k be absolutely anonymous in traffic! It’s best quality is probably the ride, much better than any Model Y
Yawn. As a fellow Audi enthusiast this is just boring. The UI looks the same from 2019, the car itself looks about the same as the original. I would whole heartedly get the IX over this car. This is disappointing to say the least. The IX in a way has a better design, more range, more efficiency and really good UI. Not Tesla good but feels like a better contender.
Audi sucks... 31 mins VS 18 mins by KIA..cmon. I drove Audi E-tron and Kia EV6 and Ionic 6... Audi is more comfortable for sure, but about $90.000 without tax... polestar is much better. Same luxury features for the less price.
170kw charge rate even after a refresh is pathetic. And then 114 kwh battery and can't get 300 miles. What are they doing. Anything getting less than 3m/kwh needs to be hit with an electron guzzler tax.
Audi are jokers..An EV touring car with less than 300 miles range,,,probably much less, you cant run it to zero...Great looking but i wont buy electric until we get 500 miles minimum.
285 miles of range and 0-60 in 5.4 seconds with a 114kw battery! 😂 A heavy, inefficient, slow Audi turd! Audi engineers are about 7 years behind Tesla.
Ha ha - no. Drive E-tron back to back with any tesla and tell me which one you prefer. One has a "few" paper stats that make it look superior, but in day to day, there is no comparison. Sorry, but Tesla has lost its lead and is way off the back. It only leads in charging network, and that lead is being rapidly eroded. In every other category, the Germans, Koreans and even GM / Ford are now ahead...
When was the Q8 ever a regular SUV?? I thought that's what the Q7 was, the Q8 was introduced as a SAV(Sportback/Coupe) version of the Q7... Seems redundant but Great Review!
You can adjust the Regen on the setttings, you had it on Auto. If you make it manual it will remember the position you set it to!

I think its because everybody else is at some other event. The last week has been pretty packed. I think Alex did a good job.

You can make the regen fixed by going to MMI/Vehicle/Charging and Efficiency/Efficiency/ and change regen to manual.
About to pull the trigger on a white sportsback like the one in the video. For 90 grand i like it but dont love it.

Why use the paddles. You have full regen on brake pedal.
It’s level 3 charging! not level 2. Same old inside interior as the 2019 model….thought they would update it.
ALEX ....GREAT JOB 👏👏👏........ HAPPY MONDAY EVERYBODY ✌️
15:39 Is 2.5 miles per kilowatt hour good or bad?
What is battery replacement cost?
Not a fan of the black plastic. To me it means you bought the cheap version. Body color or bright metal looks much more premium

Great luxury solid car - me like it! I would take the normal shape not the sportback
Bummer about the weird regen issues. But otherwise looks like a really nice vehicle.
That 0-60 @ 14:00 was under 6 seconds... id say yes its close to the 5.4
It is, 5,2-5,5 ish with dragy gps
We're definitely in a bizarre world when we are kvetching about an almost 3-ton, $90k car, having *only* a 5.4s 0-60 time. Sustainability should be about more than just the motive energy source.
The torque is 664nm with boost and 561nm without bost
If range isn't a concern, this is a much better choice than a Model X. Way more premium and luxurious than the Tesla,, and cheaper too
yeah but it ain't a Tesla 😂
Tesla is only good for its Charging network. Build quality is not good, and unless you want Full self driving... there's no reason you should spend 80k on a tesla.
That charging port ...

Why did this styling replace the 2022 E tron? It looked way better and more aggressive
Nice Audi
I know what I'm going to get after driving my 2015 Q7 S Line into the ground. 🏁🚙⚡️
The front end doesn't look bad... But it just doesn't say Audi to me... Something's off about it

The SUV looks dumpy...sportsback looking good.
This should be 2024 not 2023?
If it's a press vehicle, it's likely still a 2023 model
Problem with EV's is that having to be so aerodynamic for range, they all become very boring and similar looking.
Not really, Porsche EVs don't resemble any other EVs, nor do Lucids
It looks less aggressive and sporty lol
Audi sucks... 31 mins VS 18 mins by KIA..cmon. I drove Audi E-tron and Kia EV6 and Ionic 6... Audi is more comfortable for sure, but about $90.000 without tax... polestar is much better. Same luxury features for the less price.
sure looks like ModelY-esque
They all look the same lol. Need to be aerodynamic for range, so they're all blobs
Model Y wishes 😂

Wrong 170 kw is great all evs don’t need to be in the 200kw range. Wake up and do research

No.
285 miles of range and 0-60 in 5.4 seconds with a 114kw battery! 😂

enjoy the trip , electric is junk 😂
