    As a dad who yearned to get this level of engagement with my kids at an RPG table, I am jealous. Some of my favorite, most hilarious gaming moments were with my kids at the table -- they just didn't stay with it very long before choosing other pastimes over me and my dice. I am very very happy for you and that utterly amazing gamer you're training up. Thank you for sharing this, and happy Father's Day to you!

      Thank you, and HFD to you too!
      My older daughter has pulled away from RPGs a bit. But we played mostly Pathfinder, and I think the battles were a little slow for them (truth be told, sometimes they can be a little slow for me ;-). MMRPG plays a lot faster, and because it is Marvel, it feels like a part of a bigger hobby - we can go to movies together, read comics, watch cartoons, RPG, etc. Heck, as I'm writing this, she's a few feet away working on a Jubilee painting lol.

    This video is fantastic! Such a great presentation and intro to the game. And exactly what I’m hoping to do with my son one of these days. He’s desperate to help me make RUclips videos, just need his attention span to match the enthusiasm lol.

    • @FuzzyOnTheDetails
      @FuzzyOnTheDetails  2 месяца назад +1

      Oh, believe me, attention span is always an issue :-). For me, the key is to keep the sessions to an hour or less, and let her roll often, even for things I might ordinarily not require a roll for if I was playing with adults. And I keep the threat levels relatively low, so the combats don't go on too long. The combination of real dice, minis, 3d terrain, Hooly's nice vibrant character sheets - all of that really helps to hold that attention for as long as possible.

    Hey, thank you for your videos. They really help see the game played mechanically. I do have a question, however. You are rolling initiative for each new round of combat. In the rules it says that you roll initiative only at the beginning of a new combat (not combat round). In that sense it's similar to 5e D&D. Am I reading the rules wrong?

    • @FuzzyOnTheDetails
      @FuzzyOnTheDetails  Месяц назад +1

      Hi there! Thanks for the kind words! I'm happy you find them helpful.
      Regarding initiative, there were 3 distinct combats and we rolled initiative just the 3 times. However, the combats were very short (with only 2 players), and I edited things down quite a bit to squeeze as many mechanical examples in as short a time as possible, so I can definitely see how it might seem like I'm rolling for every round :-). I could have squeezed the first two combats into one, but the adventure I borrowed this combat from had them as separate, and the kiddo really likes rolling dice, so I figured I'd keep it as is. I'll be mindful of the editing in the future to make sure I'm clearer about when we're coming out of initiative. Thanks for the feedback!

    Where'd you get the Jubilee miniature? Are they Heroclix?

    • @FuzzyOnTheDetails
      @FuzzyOnTheDetails  17 дней назад

      Yup! Specifically, from the Animated Series set. Only $1.99 (and she was one of the more expensive ones I picked up from that set). If you want more details, I chat about the secondary market a bit in this video (at around the 7 minute mark): ruclips.net/video/Y1HwdBhC5L0/видео.html.
      Rebasing them are pretty easy, too!
