Great advice. You never know what you might find even in glad plastic bags. In the thrift store where I volunteer, one day I was helping the ladies bring in the bags which were left during the weekend. One of the ladies was picking the clothes out of one bag and suddenly she jumps out of her chair. She found a snake...or the snake found her.

i would talk to your friend about the watch before you try to sell it and or scarp it. it might be an old family heirloom that he thought he lost a long time ago. but thats just me.

I always look at everything I pick up. If I think it might be antique or some type of vintage electronic device that might have some sort of resale or parts value I look it up and list it. hopefully I can get enough of those finds to make a decent video about it on my scrapping channel

i doubt you,ll get 200.00 for a frozen..non working pocket watch...when running they go for 150.00 at best...also ..the outer casing may be 800 silver ...and in scrap...your looking at around 30.00 after the buyer takes his cut...better off selling it...

Reminds me of a job I did about 20 years ago, I was doing a total attic clean out. Some raccoons got up in there and they wanted everything gone. A couple of suitcase had a Half foot of feces in them and I was going to just through them away, but they weighed a ton it felt like they put weights in them. Curiosity got the better of me. I cleaned it out and in the bottom was more than $450.00 in change. Unfortunately I had to clean the change which I know is a no no in the coin collecting world. But it had to be done.

Someone should remake these. Not necessarily from silver, but when the EMP happens or that plasma storm nocks out all satellites worldwide those time pieces will suddenly become valuable for survival. We are foolishly destroying ourselves with technology instead of using it to better ourselves. Get one of those kits for making cardboard clocks that work, designed for children. You will find it not so easy to assemble.
