- A little ebay research on the prices of copper bars and other ingots. You can make more money than what the scrap yard will give you.

Nice to see someone treating the planet's resources well.
With the cost of fuel going up will drive the price of metal be going up for the next few years . Like the metal better than cash in the bank .
There are Facebook groups where they sell for $1 an ounce usually.
Thats $1 to buy the bar and $5 to pay for shipping. Does not sound like a good deal to me.

Money is infinite garbage.
Making more money is great, I'll look into that later, but for me at the moment I really need to make more space, the scrap is piling up high... now if only there was a way to make more time... 😅

Most scrap yards do not buy ingots the ones that usually do pay the lowest price like number 2 copper
Given that I'm a woman who keeps all my copper for future casting I'm saying stack stack stack! Yes Ingots are great when selling directly to the market but a lot of scrapyards don't like them because of people hiding naughty metals inside, but the rest of us just think they are gorgeous 😍 🤤
Scrap yards can take a photo of your license and build a relationship of trust. They dont seem to want to. I think they'd rather just call you a liar and get away with paying you less.

@@albertthedogeinstein7983 Does that $1 include shipping? If the seller is on the east coast and the buyer is on the west coast there's gonna be shipping charges. So $1 + shipping charge = waiting 10 years for the price of the bar to go up to even break even. So how to buy from facebook and not pay shipping costs? Drive there and pick them up in you car if your petrol is free.
@@grantreese2507 exactly. Some do take your driver license information, but they still prefer to use the excuse of dishonest people to tag everyone the same and pay less than the present value. They can be dishonest, and no one supervises them.

At a local auction here a ONE OUNCE copper bar sold for $25! That’s $400 / lb. This auction has sold multiple bars at similar prices. I think I will be making some 1 ounce bars soon!

Make sure you get your company insurance and worker's compensation from Ebay, now that they are treating their customers as employees. Oh, and the matching social security, vacation time, and sick leave. ; )

Stack..Stack..Stack!!! Just got 3 new graphite molds - a small, a medium, & a large. Going to pour 50 ingots of each. Not sure how many aluminum ingots I'll pour. If you took that brick to a scrap yard, they'd laugh at you. Probably get copper 2. No offense, just my opinion. That'd make a good video. Go to an honest yard with 4 of them.
I'm looking to store my ingots, refine them into bars that i could sell as a distributor. I just have to look up the total ins and outs of that type of business. I'm sure certification of metal grades will be a must.

took an 80-grit flap disc to the bars i make, to make them look a little cleaner i can't make them fast enough to sell on Ebay havent sold any of my copper ones yet either but the brass ones are selling like hotcakes..... but on another note i just wanted to thank you for getting me into all this silver/gold refining and melting copper and brass you were the first person i started watching years ago and all your info was very helpful to me... keep going for that play button You deserve it!
Are people willing to pay postage to get the bars from one side of the country to the other?

I need 1,kilo 2,kilo 3, kilo Ingots for copper & aluminum etc.
If you cannot do your own melting then buying is the only thing left but consider this: the price of the item today + cost of shipping to you. If you are stocking for future value then the price of the metal has got to go 2-3 times higher that what you paid for it in order to make a profit. How long will that take? Who knows. Maybe your kids will enjoy the profits.

I see the potential in ingots as well. It's worth noting though, that scrap yards balk at ingots because they don't know where the metal came from. They like to see tubes, wires, etc. Something that speaks its grade.
I'm flabbergasted that people would spend wayyyy more than spot on copper/brass. But hey, if there's a market for it lol
Personally, I'd have to give my ingots an artistic touch, to further the demand.

Scrap yards don't like buying ingots of the metals. Its hard to tell if the metal bar is pure - like rocks or something under the surface. So if you melt it down, you are essentially committing to selling in other venues like EBAY.
Witness of origin type,or certification required. End user the foundries need accurate description. Check $ on commodities mkt

I'm just curious if you add in the time to break down/strip/acquire the copper and fuel to drive getting the materials? It seems like a wash in the end. I love the videos, I have learned a lot watching.
I don't know about moose, but my gas is generally paid for by the steel I pick up. I usually more than break even on just the steel alone. That's not factoring the aluminum brass or copper that I separate. Of course, efficiency is key here. I usually let the community know I'm picking up scrap, and efficiently plan a route with my large trailer.

Do u only put bare bright, wire, and #1into your ingots? Obviously you can't use #2, right?
#2 copper is a pretty general term. Generally speaking, the slag one scoops from #2 is negligible compared to #1. Now, if there's a lot of paint, plastic, oil etc than yeah, there'd be a lot more slag. Tiny gauge copper wire is considered #2 at my yard. But it's every bit as pure as say Romex copper wire. It's simply smaller.
But sweat joints (contain tin/lead solder) and are considered #2 as well. That you wouldn't wanna melt with your pure copper.
@@Handle_number_7 so you'll put anything in as long as there isn't soldered joints or heavy corrosion? I'm asking because I'd like to start making these as well. Maybe even sell on ebay
I'd probably throw in heavily oxidized, because impurities like oxides float to the surface. Allowing you to skim it off. But personally I wouldn't throw paint or other unknowns in, due to potential for other metal contamination. Oxidation doesn't bother me, unless it was caused by a chemical.
@@Handle_number_7 dont some wires have glue underneath thevinsulation?
If overheated, it can tend to stick to the wire. But I've never seen glued wire. Magnet wire uses a varnish paint like material. Magnet wire is what's used in electric motors.
You mentioned 10 bars had “sold today.” Was this early or later? I found this video very interesting but another video that dives deeper would be great too like the supply vs the demand on eBay. Do people typically buy smaller or bigger amounts and like an ideal ingot size? Are there any odds and ends metals that tend to sell for a premium or possible alloyed ingots? This is possibly multiple videos now that I’m typing it out.
