    Is there a working link to the equipment you used for this build and the instructions for building it?

    Why'd ya run the pi over the Arduino?

  • @moridinTKD
    @moridinTKD 4 года назад +1

    You should consider adding some PID controls to get those oscillations down a bit. Also, it looks like the temp sensor inside the Vaisala is a Pt1000 RTD Class F0.1 IEC 60751. That might help you find some code to run it. If not you could always get a few DS18b20 temperature sensors for a few bucks.

      I would like to, but I think coding a PID is well above my skill level!

    I did a simpler set up to this. Mine cant be monitored via a computer at the moment.
    That said what I did was, for anybody interested. I used an Arduino Uno clone. I bought a DHT22 sensor, I2C LCD 4x20, some odds and ends like a bread board and cables and a relay module. It was easy to set up. the only hard part was the coding. It took me 2 weeks to get it to work. I had no former experience with coding so I believe it is understandable. What I did was hook up my humidifier to a relay. My code is set that when the humidity goes below 80% the relay activates, and then activates the humidifier. When the Humidity is above 90% it turns of. My LCD screen displays the humidity and Temperature real time with the ppm in the future. I am planning on buying a CO2 sensor next and hooking it up with an output to a relay, if the co2 build up is to great an extractor fan kicks in via the relay and brings in new fresh air. It is a simple and cost effective set up and I am glad in the way it works.
    I do not have an internet connection near my farm so monitoring it on my phone or pc is not needed at the moment. I am also planning on using a Ambient Light sensor in the future to monitor the amount of light in my fruiting chamber(but this in the future).
    One point that I want to make is, if you can learn how these little devices work, you can do almost anything if you put your mind to it.

    mate you simply need xm-18s controller from aliexpress, its about 30-40 usd and can control all you need: temp, humidity, fan, humidifier and heater on/off :)

    • @OakandSpore
      @OakandSpore  3 года назад

      If its 30-40usd it won't be able to accurately control the humidity much over 70%. I need accuracy at 95%, so I use a good quality probe! Plus I like making shit like this...

    with all this data now, might be interesting to see if you could have achieved same results with a fan on a timer. Also, when you say the word "air" it sounds so much like the word "ear" I really want to know how you pronounce ear now!

    • @OakandSpore
      @OakandSpore  4 года назад +12

      I have used percentage timers, and you do not get the same amount of control.
      There is no difference in how I say "air" and "ear", it's the same for "beer" "Bear" and "bare", and "cheers" and "chairs", they all sound the same. This is what happens when your nation is isolated in the south pacific for a few hundred years!

      @@OakandSpore lol i get it now. non sequitur here, but as kind of a marketing guy here, you have the personality to become a huge youtuber, you're quite magnetic. The only thing lacking is the production quality of your videos, a higher frequency of video uploads. For example I'm brand new to mushrooms and looking around, the quality of intro on this video is great ruclips.net/video/qjfpEW5IHp4/видео.html - not so much the flashy intro, but rather how he gives an intro on what he's about to talk about before he goes more in depth. This gives the audience better context to keep them engaged to watch the whole vid. Also maybe an obvious suggestion, but maybe see which other youtube videos about mushroom growing have the most views and do a twist on that video. Not telling you how to do your job, just wanting to see you succeed :)

    • @OakandSpore
      @OakandSpore  4 года назад +6

      My goal has been to increase frequency and increase production quality. The automation videos I done really kicked me in the guts, it honestly took me so many hours to learn how to do it all, it consumed my time and I fell into a bit of a hole. But the main part is done, now I am looking to create some more videos about mushrooms growing, while trying to expand it to videos that people who don't grow mushrooms would be interested in.
      I appreciate the time taken to give me some advice, I am always looking for ways to improve, and feedback from supports is really gold.

      @@OakandSpore no need to respond to this, but just a random vid you might take some inspiration from, this guy who's channel is really taking off i found randomly and he has that charisma you have, but as you watch his videos there's something about him and how he's just giving updates on all sorts of stuff, i don't know shit about london, or aggregates, or construction at all, but i find myself watching his videos. ruclips.net/video/sVtK8Bot-Ts/видео.html - it's all about the journey. And while many pple use youtube to actually learn about stuff, personally i find myself waking up in the morning and just looking for something that is entertaining to watch in the background. You might have 2 types of videos, tutorials that are in depth, and then just videos that are updates about your life around mushrooms, you just constantly filming everything! Ya never know what's gonna take off.

    • @OakandSpore
      @OakandSpore  4 года назад +1

      He's done very well! It looks like he's hired someone as a videographer as well. It's good too see someone make it like he has in such a short amount of time. You can see what videos he's made which have really paid off. I would like to film more daily life, but filming for me really slows everything down to such a large degree I cannot realistically film all the time. I will be looking to improve. I have lots of plans for videos coming up, but it's about finding the time and fitting them all in between everything else..
