Awesome video comparing two generations of rather obscure business tablets. It's rare to find something like this. Thanks

@@jbtech5743 The Venue 11 Pro 7140 has an infamous power on failure that some users are saying that they have to pressed the power and volume down button in order to turn it on and sometime even this method will not work too, do you know whether this unique problem is due to a firmware issue or a hardware problem that a certain part has to be replaced?

I believe this is the only 10-11" Core M tablet on the market. I would love to see Core M go into smaller and smaller tablets/PCs if it can handle battery/heat constraints. I love the accessories and docking options that Dell provides in this series.

If you feel bold, and you can still find one, consider buying an Onda V919 3G Core M. It's a Chinese tablet that's quite...unique. The company blatantly ripped off the chassis and screen of an iPad Air 9.7inch and stuffed the internals of a Core M 5Y10c CPU, 64GB SSD (not eMMC) and 4GB dram. I don't think it's made anymore, and so, thus harder to get, but I think you could still find it on Aliexpress from a few sellers. It's gotten really mixed reviews, apparently when it first came out it had all sorts of problems, those may have been resolved now. However, to date, it's the ONLY Windows tablet with a non-Atom CPU that is 4:3 (2048x1536) and I think it's also the smallest Core M tablet ever made.

    Hi.
Thank you for your helpful and informational video.
I just have a few questions I would be grateful if you could please answer at your convenience:
1.0) Is the Venue 11 Pro 7140 compatible with the new Latitude 11 5175 accessories (i.e. Both Keyboards, dock, etc).
2.0) Do you know of any good folio cases for the Venue 11 Pro 7140 and will the Dell Latitude 11 Rotating Folio fit the Venue 7140.
2.1) If so, how well do both keyboards work with the Rotating Folio.
    Thank you.

Thanks, that answered most of my questions but I still have a few.
    1. Has the M.2 slot been changed from 2260 to 2280 and does it support PCIe as well as SATA?
    2. Can you definitely remove the back as easily as you can with the 7140 and remove the SSD and WWAN card?

Does the new tablet folio for 5175 work with 7140? There is no folio case for 7140, old one discontinued. So I thought new folio case would work with 7140.

Thanks so much for the great video. I was thinking about upgrading from the 7140, but I have a question: I believe you said during the video that this will drive a 2560 x 1440 monitor. I have read that the Intel HD Graphics 515, which I believe this has, will drive a 3840 x 2160 monitor @ 60 Hz if display port is used. Can this tablet run a 4K monitor?

Thanks for the great video JB. I'm glad the keyboard and dock from previous generation work. I just have two questions. Can the back be taken off and the battery be replaced, and the SSD upgraded, like the 7140? I have the 7140, and can provide links to the way to take off the back if needed. I want to recommend this tablet to many people who keep their stuff a long time, but the battery is the first thing to go, and I only would recommend it if I can verify this.

I bought this tablet I believe it was March 2016 and it's been a nightmare a few months after purchase when I started using it in September 2016. It was hard to make a change from what I was used to. I had to install my work software etc on the tablet. First off I bought it because I needed to minimize carrying a lot of stuff back and forth, however, I carry now more than ever. The keyboard is soooooo soooo heavy. Had I known I definitely would have bought a laptop. I reached out to Dell and they wouldn't take it back. They gave me a credit of $200 to buy something from DELL and told me to keep the keyboard. I bought the docking station with the credit. I had to buy a separate keyboard, something light to carry around. I then needed another usb port for the keyboard as if I had enough usb ports to spare. (no blue tooth was not an option for me.) Tablet only comes with 1 usb port.....And the type c is to charge the system so I can't use it for anything else. The one usb port was for a hub. The hub I purchased from amazon was so that I can carry around (portable) so that I won't have to carry around with the docking station , which is heavy as well.
Second, the tablet does not perform as a real full functioning laptop. In the middle of my work the system would freeze. Can't tell you how many times I was scared I would lose my work. I also can't tell you how many times I had to deal with support. Not only regular support I had to deal with Business support which was another department that I had to go through at least 3 different reps before speaking to someone that could help. And then when I got someone I had to explain the situation to each rep. My issue went from my screen freezing, told my bios had to be updated, (I could't believe it.) I never in my life in all the 5 different laptops I've ever known had to update a bios!!!!! Bios, what's that I thought? Hmmmm.... Then going on to changing the mother board, having someone come to my job to check my system, that while the tech was there he too saw I still had a problem, to then eventually sending it to get rebooted, re whatever you want to call it. Sent it back to DELL. My complaints started in September of 2016 and although the system was re set to factory settings and I got it back about 2 months ago, I refuse to re install my work software. The anxiety I have from this whole experience. I spent about $1300 for this and I actually think I got a lemon. If the core mY is as good as an i3 or i5, which I was told is the highest a tablet can have to function as a laptop, then I got a lemon. I have no idea what any of that means except that this tablet is a nightmare. I have all the emails of my constant request for an exchange for a Dell xps 13 and I'm told my warranty does not call for an upgrade or exchange yet..........And if Dell was to do something it would only be for another tablet. Really, after all this why would I want another tablet? I need a full functioning laptop that works as a full functioning laptop not a tablet that is supposed to work as a laptop. I have no faith in tablets working as a laptop. This has not proved that to me. This is the worst investment I've ever made. Now I only use it to back up my pictures......a $1300-$1400 tablet to now view my pictures.....I believe the reps that have tried to help did the best they could but when it comes to making a customer happy, well, that's for the CORPORATION TO DO and it's out of their hands. I have just emailed Dell once again. In my research for a good small laptop Dell xps 13 seems to have good ratings, however, I'm reluctant to purchase another Dell product.

I've been looking at 7140's and 7130's on ebay for the past week since my 5130's charger died. You can NOT get a 7140 for $150 unless it's in bad condition or needs to be repaired somehow.

Too bad you're wrong. My 7140 was direct from dell refurbished, 100$ including the keyboard with integrated battery. Minimal wear on the batteries, absolutely perfect screen, great cosmetic condition. This was 2 years ago.

Hi, Which version your desktop docking station? Do I need to do a special setting to make it make desktop docking station work for latitude 5175? My dock (K10A001) cannot detect external display for latitude 5175 for both display port and HDMI (however, USB and sound is fine). When I tried with 7130, the dock working very well. Please advise..

How heavy is the keyboard in comparison to the tablet itself? I used to have an Asus Transformer that had a 100 percent identical keyboard style and the keyboard was way too light and the tablet kept tilting back, lifting the keyboard off the table. Is this a problem for the Venue?

    • @jbtech5743
      @jbtech5743  8 лет назад +1

HI, with the productivity keyboard (thicker one with second batter that makes this more like a mini laptop) the balance is great and the tablet needs a good push with a finger to make it fall backwards so if you were say typing then went to use a stylus or your finger on the screen it wont tip backwards unless you are rough with it. the slim keyboard is lighter and thinner however as the stand is part of the keyboard with the slim version this also cannot be pushed over (even more sturdy that the productivity keyboard)
