At ReDriven, we’ll be taking you through the pros and cons of a huge range of used cars to see how well they’re going now that they’re a few years old, have thousands of kilometres on the clock, and are coming toward the end of their warranty, or maybe don’t have one at all.

My biggest surprise is you still haven’t reviewed the Mitsubishi Mirage Hello Kitty edition, it is a class leading car when it comes to animated cats.

A mate of mine has a Toyota Century, in fact the very car Mr Regular flew to NZ to test. It's not a column shift, the shifter is in the 'usual' place. His car also has the TV and DVD for rear passengers, and also has the lace curtains in the rear windows. A couple of mufflers had been deleted, but he's replaced them because he prefers the smoothness. Bloody fantastic car.
Regarding the Century V12 engine, essentially, the 1GZ-FE consists of two straight six-cylinder engines that use the same crank. Throttle bodies, EFI systems, and separate left and right cylinder bank inlet manifolds are all present. Additionally, there are separate ECUs for each bank so that in the event of an engine failure, the engine can still function as a six-cylinder engine.
I also own an ex cop BMW. Fun thing to do it stop on the side of the road and see how long it takes to show up on Waze.
It gets a bit tiresome at times as people drive on the speed limit, when I want to pass them. Funny how well everyone drives around me now

Last year James from Throttle House fell in love with a Century and bought one. Its hard to argue with the build quality, ride etc... Occasionally its nice to waft along like a magic carpet to a far away destination. I'd like to get my hands on one as well

I can relate to the ex-cop car thing. When I bought my Commodore SV6 many years ago we also had an Astra with the stalks on the opposite side of the steering column. One day in the Commodore I accidentally indicated left while I was driving along the motorway and the guy in front of me pulled over to the road side. Doh!

Love it 👌👍😊 Especially the most fun segment 😁 Though I have a 6 rather than a 5 Series, it's been such a bizarre yet hilarious experience living through this era when suddenly it's ME people on the highway visibly freak out about appearing behind or approaching them.
The Century is a well deserving winner. I've known about them for a while,but after your recent review I went onto Carsales and discovered the new version is no less than a V8 hybrid. I'd be so curious what that's like compared to its V12 predecessor.

The best car you have reviewed the Toyota Century very good choice there are a lot of you tube videos on them mainly from the USA and there is a mechanic who works on Toyotas but he out it on a hoist and even underneath is just as brilliant as the rest of it so well engineered
I called the Century as yours and Hullsy's pick for car of the year as soon as I had watched the video.
A thought I had for the future review videos is if its practical enough put a link in the description too the fan/owners groups you've used as some viewers may want to get in touch with them.

Good list! ReDriven is right, don't get the VW Polo, buy a well-maintained Suzuki Swift Sport (2016). It's a really good car for the money, albeit a little small. The latest model has a bigger boot but the 2016 version arguably looks cooler.

Great video! Surprised the Kia Proceed GT on the list compared to the amazing cars you've driven. The RUclips effect is real only 7 Proceed for sale on carsales. Prices have jumped to average 20K now

You both hated on the forester in your last two videos but seem to hold the Outback in quite high regard. Aren't these mostly the same car? Or is it because the forester is more popular than it deserves to be?

Great question. The Outback on the used market can be had for only a small amount more than a Forester yet it offers a fair amount more.
The previous generation Foresters I personally love, mechanics think I'm an idiot but that's nothing new, but please don't take our recent Forester assessment personally. We think you're wonderful and would give you a "yes you should buy a Luke Brewer" in a heartbeat. - AK

There is an old VW T3 transporter that sits in the back of the garage sometimes (probably on a tow truck the rest of the time) Be great to see you do a review of that sometime. Perhaps a seperate channel where you take old nuggets for a review.
Haha, I had a white AU sedan back when they were a couple of years old. I pulled into a court in an industrial area one arvo and came up to a few bloke doing burnouts. Still giggle as it was like someone pressed pause on them.

Pretty cool to hear two cars parked at my home on the list. Stinger GT and pro_cee’d GT…and yes I’ve known of the Toyota Century for quite some time given it has a V12 lump…and having owned now a very rare example of the Daimler Double Six Vanden Plas, I can vouch for just how smooth and tractable a well sorted V12 is….Thanks for the excellent videos…
you guys should do a ReDriven video on a Toyota Crown coz they come in a sedan and wagon with some having the legendary 1JZ engine under the hoods.

I thought I caught myself a great bargain a year ago; I found a 2012 Hyundai iX35 in perfect as new condition with 72k on the clock for 17k, so I got it. Was a wonderful car, added 10k to the clock in a year then ... GEARBOX, and it is STILL in repair 6mths later with no ETA and the dealer now saying that it has MORE issues after being 'fixed' than when it went in. I paid the $4,200 for the new gearbox. Its spent the last 2mths at Hyundai head office being 'investigated'. I wish there were Lemon Laws in NSW, but there arent and I certainly dont have the cash to take a dealership to court. So I am scouring your videos for ideas on 'what next'?!
KIA has done a major recall on this car and other models for premature engine failure. Although it is a very nice looking vehicle and fun to drive.

I bought my Kia Procee'd gt a few months ago and all its been is problems, it could be ex owner but i just doubt it cuz it was an old lady who took it to kia every 6 months for servicing and maintenance. Constant engine lights electrical faults etc. I'm not saying all kias r bad but this one has just put a bad taste in my mouth
I’ve owned three Kia’s and we thought the second one was an anomaly. A few issues, we still bought the third. Kia is the worst company I have ever dealt with, poor ownership experience, 11 months to fix the air conditioner on a 2019 Sorento, 3 months to fix a recall and steering. Still has a definite whine they can’t identify and repair. Battery went flat waiting while unsafe to drive and they made us pay for it to be replaced. Mongrels. Would never buy a Kia again.

Out of curiosity I checked Toyota century prices on carsales in VIC and it starts with $23.8k for a car made in 1999. The next cheapest is $28.2k (2001). 28k for a car which is 22 years old, really? I'd pass.
Yet people are paying $140k for MY99 WRX STI's and well over $300k for 2000 model GTR's. We argue the Century is as special to the luxury car genre as the STI is to performance cars, seems like a bargain. - AK

I've always disliked Subaru products, until a mate powered his Brumby with a WRX engine. Now Marty has made another Subaru that finally looks good and has good power. It's a pity Subaru can't do the same.

I really struggle with the whole RAM thing I personally just love the American Trucks but the BS about the towing ability of the Ram and it is a cheap American truck for a good reason, it is not anywhere near a base model F series or a Chevy. I know the Aussie utes claim to tow 3.5 ton and they can with a full fuel load and cut lunch the RAM claims 4.5 Ton if your 10 year old son drives it with 10 liters of fuel. To me its like I want a big powerful USA truck so I will put a body kit on a Ute. Yep I have driven a Ram and a 2019F 150 massive difference.
Got it wrong again, the Jeep GC Trackhawk, only kidding, wait a minute, you haven't tested one of these yet, so how about it. I know it's a jeep, but they are all not bad, as I have found out. Just brought a 2014 Jeep GC Overland, same as the one I think you tested, but a V6 petrol, bloody awesome car.
You are either new here or taking the piss, pretty sure these guys have given their thoughts on that vehicle.

Interesting video, many thanks. I see that once again the Stinger is being compared to 'a BMW' but without mentioning what specific BMW that would be. Please enlighten me, is it a 1,2,3,4,5, or 6 series, a sedan, coupe, station wagon or SUV?. Does the Stinger come with a range of engine options including petrol, turbo petrol and turbo diesel as well as hybrid, 2 and AWD?. Perhaps you are comparing the Stinger to one of the many BMW 'M' cars, perhaps the M5 competition?. TBH, it's pretty pointless comparing a car which is available in only one body style and with fairly limited engine and transmission options to a range of cars that spans fairly basic to very high performance.
Great question Mark. Am I correct in suspecting you might be a BMW fan?
To answer the question, we weren't referring to any specific BMW but focussing on what we feel BMW should stand for which is, to provide "The Ultimate Driving Machine" experience, a sexy looking yet relatively practical and luxurious feeling, driver focussed, front engined, rear-wheel drive vehicle that offers and excellent array of features, equipment and safety.
The Stinger GT does this exceptionally well, probably because the guy responsible for some of the very best BMW modes, Albert Biermann (and his team), developed and engineered the Stinger. Plus the Stinger has a 7 year warranty, the cost of parts and macitence are more affordable than many European rivals and like many BMW's, the Stinger really comes alive with some quality modifications and tuning.
This takes nothing away from our BMW experiences this year. As mentioned, driving around in an ex-highway patrol 5 Series was one of my all-time driving highlights and aside from feeling incredibly powerful, the 5 Series is a superb car in its own right.
However, if I had to choose, I'd buy the Stinger if I wanted a BMW style experience. I still love BMW (an E21 323i, E28 535i and M2 Comp are all incredibly high on my must own one day list) but the Stinger is such an incredibly impressive vehicle in every sense. - AK

I was a bit surprised that you used mighty car mods as a support mechanism to rubbish the Subaru levorg. I enjoy that channel as I enjoy your channel too, however mighty car mods claim that the golf GTI & R are reliable where as your videos on both basically say the opposite. The levorg mightn't perfect but I'd take a punt on one over the golf as an out of warranty daily
The GTI and R are generally reliable for the first few years and if maintained well and driven within their limits, after that warranty is up and if the previous owners think they're driving gods, it can get very interesting very quickly.
Subaru once used to have an excellent reliability record for the general public (excluding those pumping more boost through early EJ25's or dumping clutches when launching anything), but these days, we just keep seeing and hearing horror stories.
As a Subaru fan, I really wish this wasn't the case but talk to any mechanic, they'll generally agree, the once mighty brand has let things slip a little.
However, our major issue with the Levorg is the CVT. Give it a manual and I'm in! - AK

Subaru Forester shi$$ ????? We definitely have totally different SLAs for a vehicle. I think its with the RAV 4 the two best SUVs in Australia. Sorry CX-5 but sexy its not enough.
In Queensland Police use Stingers. It is no go for Raptors and Rams, I see them as a posers car. I have never seen a Toyota Century, I would love one.
