Hi Rachna !You are an excellent teacher !Thank you very much for your useful and practical videos.Thank you for all your time and efforts making these free videos for English learners around the world.
Though there are a lot of lessons on used to as well as would. I noticed that you only explained the the difference between both While using it to narrate the past aspects. To be precise, "used tarro" Can be used to express past actions and past state of being whereas it is not gramatically Correct to use would to narrate Past state of being. I repeated your words to affix it in my memory. Thanks Rachana sis. Your lessons are easy to learn and your presentation is excellent. Thanks a lot.
I have to teach this tomorrow for my CELTA lesson and seeing this video finally cleared up the difference enough for me to understand it. Thank you so much.
Thanks for the video. I will sure use this video in the future, but I will make see to it that I will review this video over and over in order not to forget your lesson.
According to some English practical grammar books we may use both: “didn’t use” & “didn’t usED” as correct negative forms despite the last one doesn’t seem to be so. ps: If you are a beginner - don’t use the second one, it’ll only confuse you.
It was perfect the only thing the second sentence in the left column is not completed that one needs another sentence to show we are talking about past. Thanks
Thank you so much. I am benifitted from the lesson. Now my question is how to differentiate betwen action and state? Without knowing rhe difference, we can't use them correctly.
Used to : can be use for past action and past state
Would : can be use only for past action not past state.

We can use would with stative verbs in temporary states
Ex i would often feel lonely in this place
Used to we use it with stative verbs in general

well explained, super and cool presentation... you guys(Lets Talk crew) are always doing productive jobs.. thanks a lot..
I used to be a engineer but now I am a teacher" is wrong because when we use "used to" action don't happens now. And "Would" is admissible
"I used to be a engineer" is wrong. I used to be an engineer is correct.
Your grammar is terrific itself .... CORRECTIONS: "An engineer"
"action doesn't happen"

Is there a difference between these questions?
-What did you used to cook?
-What did you use to cook?
Both of them are correct?
Second one is correct. You can't use 'used to' when you use 'did'

you can also use would in the perfect tense. for example, I would play football. however, it is dangerous because of the head injuries.
