Following his success in "Porridge," Beckinsale continued to shine in "Rising Damp," portraying the character Alan Moore. His ability to make audiences laugh and empathize with his characters solidified his status as a beloved figure in British television.
Tragically, Richard Beckinsale's life was cut short when he passed away at the young age of 31 on March 19, 1979. A sudden and unexpected heart attack claimed his life, leaving his family, including his wife Judy Loe and their daughter Kate Beckinsale, devastated. His untimely death was not only a personal tragedy but also a loss for the entertainment industry, which had lost one of its most promising talents.
Despite his brief time in the spotlight, Richard Beckinsale's legacy endures through his timeless performances, which continue to entertain audiences. His daughter, Kate Beckinsale, who followed in his footsteps as a successful actress, has spoken lovingly about her father's influence on her career and life. Richard Beckinsale's life, though tragically short, serves as a reminder of the enduring impact of talent and charisma, leaving an indomitable mark on British television and the hearts of those who knew him or enjoyed his work.

When I watched porridge with my dad many many many years ago, i always thought that godber was always perfect for richard. It matched his acting style perfectly. Wish we could have had many more years with him. An absolute legend in the industry
Hi, I reckon he was so brilliant he made it look that way - he played a very nasty piece of work in a TV play and that looked perfect for him too!
Rip Richard i used to watch porridge and rising damp in the 70ts you were a great actor miss them times gone to early 😢 🎉❤
What about his daughter Samantha also an actress, and the living image of him
Absolutely 😩😩😩😩. No mention of the simply lovely Samantha. I’ve always blamed his second wife for keeping Samantha in the background. I judge this on interviews she gave following his death. Living image of Richard
Took the words out of my mouth!!
@@ACEVella I always loved Sam, she was done dirty. People say Kate looks like her dad, but Sam was his female clone. It has been written that she and her father reconnected a couple of years before he passed, I don’t know if this it true, but I hope so.
@@elliej11j68 I cannot see him in Kate at all but Samantha when she was younger my god I've never seen a daughter look so much like her dad!
It was,and still is a shock!he was so young and successful,he lives on through his Daughters and fans memories 🙏💗💗💗
WHAT ABOUT HIS OTHER DAUGHTER SAMANTHA WHO IS THE DOUBLE OF HIM I THINK IT'S DISGUSTING NOT TO MENTION HER SHE WAS A ACTRESS 😮😮
Yes and she is a beautiful woman.
@@elliej11j68 so true
YES. HE DOES HAVE AN OLDER DAUGHTER WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE HIM. SHE'S ABOUT 56 YEARS OLD, NOW. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MENTIONED ON THIS VIDEO BUT SHE WASN'T, AS IF SHE DOESN'T EXIST AND THAT'S NOT RIGHT.
Yeah wrong if he has another daughter.very strange
THERE ARE A FEW RUclips VIDEOS WITH HIS OLDER DAUGHTER, SAMANTHA BECKINSALE, WHO WAS ALSO AN ACTRESS. SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE HER FATHER.
He gad 2 daughters called Samantha and Kate
He Was So Unlucky To Have A Fatal heart attack At 31, Wot A Shock that was.. it sometimes makes me feel lucky to still be here, he would have been 4 years older than me now.
He was genetically predisposed to very high cholesterol. Both of his parents had sky high cholesterol but in the 70’s little was understood about its dangers.
My grandma talks about having beef fat sandwiches. They called it dripping. What we either grill or air fry now was fried in lard back then!!
Im surprised anyone saw past the age of 25,what with consuming all that saturated fat, smoking and boozing.
We now live much longer lives because of cutting these things out and boy does it feel longer😂😳⚰️
@@CashelOConnolly I read years ago that he had a condition called familial hypercholesterolemia, which he passed down to his daughter.
I, met Richard Beckensale when I was Star struck by him watching he at the theatre in London. He was in a play called "A Fishy Business with the up and coming Julie Waterman. He was lovely and abliging.
A Nottingham Lad. Many people may not know, but as well as being a great actor, he was a great poet, I have a book, a collection of his poems. If you want to understand someone and their thoughts, Read there poetry, The college, he and his daughters went to, was Claridon college, Mansfield Road. Nottingham.
Kate beckinsale looks nothing look him but Samantha is the spitting image
Rising damp for me. It was a fantastic comedy that had all my family in stitches, especially the episode with the ghost. Loved the car episode, and when he accidently slipped in the garage still lingers in my mind. I'm sure that he'd be very proud of Kate.
Cruel world he had so much more to offer. ❤️
There's nothing in this video about his final hours.
I used to watch him all the time. He was lovely it was awful when he died.
I am crying right now in memory of dear Richard Beckinsale - my own father and I (plus the family) loved him so much in Porridge and Rising Damp - these were family times when we'd all sit together and watch, so it has brought back many fond memories for me. I had a big teenage crush on Richard and thought he was the most handsome actor on the planet. I was so sad when he died and my heart went out to his wife and daughter Kate. I still remember the headlines. Thank you Richard for all the memories and the laughs, I have been watching Rising Damp again on You Tube and having belly laughs, such a machine gun script and great gags. Thank you for this. xxx
I can still remember one of the funniest lines from the lovers and it was at least a million years ago," wheres yer mum beryl? Making lampshades again?"
"No, altringham"
"Why what's wrong with em?"
A pity that you kept repeating yourself. This was really badly made video. And you forgot Samantha Beckinsale, his other daughter, also an actress.
Exactly agree she’s the spit of him that Kate looks nothing like him
I wish people would do their research before posting videos on here.
The actor Richard Beckingsale was married to Margaret Bradley, they had a daughter named Samantha born in 1966. She grew up to become an actress. Beckingsale divorced her mother and much later married Judy Loe, they also had a daughter named Kathrin (Kate) born in 1973. Who is an actress
Richard didn't have much to do with Samanthas early life up until about the age of 11, they reconciled just before his death.
I remember him growing up when I watched porridge and rising damp. What a great actor. Did not know Kate Beckinsale was his daughter. I'm sure he would be proud
Luved him bless him his daughter is very talented also
Nothing about Richard's "Tragic Final Hours".
Clickbait yet again.
Richard come from my town Nottinghamshire's UK
Kate beckinsale looks nothing look Richard and her acting is nothing like richards, Samantha is more like her dad and she’s spitting image of him why isn’t she mentioned he had more than one child UNFAIR.
He also has another daughter
RIP Richard! I really can’t be doing with the American narrative!
Very young age of passing on r I p I loved watching porridge and love the way cell mate sait to him I loved it Fletcher that's who I mean yes 😢
I didn't know Richard Beckinsale was dead.
Wrong title. Should read....Richard Beckinsale. His Life. So many foriegners narrating on British performers always do this.
Rest in peace Richard.
❤❤❤❤❤
He had an older daughter as well. She also acted. Why is she not shown or even talked about?
I love the way the narrator says porridge like pouridge lol
It's called an accent. We all have one.
No mention of his work on the radio at the BBC
major loss
Also his other daughter Kate who stared in vanhelsin
Yes and very tasty she was in that.
Kate is one of the most beautiful women in the world
She’s ok, prefer Samantha spitting image of him
They're both stunners, but Kate is also very funny.
Sadly porridge portrayed prisons as lovely fun places full of likable inmates, rather than the vile thugs in reality...
Definitely not take a night in Frightening of being locked up in a cell and Mr Grout admittedly some humour but didn’t shy away from showing the darker side of prison
It was a family show. What did you want....some brutal shower scene.
There are many stupid gullible people who will believe that prison is a fun place with lovely funny inmates, can you not see this bwilson?.......
Just shower scenes in women's prisons with only slim attractive inmates only (and no transgender's)....@@bwilson5401
