How to test battery capacity the easy way

This video is step by step instructions on how to find out how much capacity is in your battery cell and if the cell is a brand new. I'm dealing with LiFePo4 CALB CA180 cells in this video and even dough these cells are no longer being made, they are still the best LiFePo4 cells for of grid solar systems on the market today. If you can find them brand new for reasonable price, don't hesitate to purchase them. They will serve you very well for long time if properly used.

Measure internal resistance of each cell to get an idea if one is way out of whack from the rest when fully charged. Internal resistance increases as cell capacity goes down, when the battery is dead, it doesn't go down as much and will have around 200mΩ Internal resistance when charged instead of 10 mΩ. Blue ESR meter (AC Ohm Meter) or a low cost battery internal resistance tester from Amazon will show the internal resistance. The cells should all be similar resistance both when fully charged, half charge, and near dead. The current will also drop if you are charging with a constant voltage source, the 20A might be at the start, but it will taper down to 5A or lower as cells are fully charged.

And how would that tell you the capacity of the cell? And I know the current will drop according to the charging voltage, I already mentioned it in the video.

if cell is old you re not sure if it is age degraded or need some kind of wake up IF it ever help..!!! i have some new ones never used and they are old stock !!! i can live with that . i experement on em and i m just ok with em matched internal resistance.. !!!!!! always try to have matched ones even if they degraded a bit!!!!!!

okay, what do you mean by old? 1 year 10 years?

@@VladFredK 46160 can't be identified no barcodes no nothing.. By the usage of other streamers I assume at least 2 years.. Their internal resistant is 027 and 8 packs bought 4 and 4 different orders are perfectly matched .. You can call it luck. Don't ask yet about capacity. Dl24 is on the box didn't use it and I don't know if dl24 mosfet is correct for such big cell they produced em for 18650
