if they ever make a sequel I hope it will be about how Christopher somehow got resurrected but still is a vampire after getting a second chance he realises what he has done and tries to gain everyones forgiveness for example by curing the subsider turning them back to humans
this was one of my favorite movies of the year. My favorite thing about it is that it's more scary to be a vampire in the movie instead of a human when it's usually the opposite.
Favorite vampire movie of the last 15 years and really intelligently plotted. Love how it's revealed that exposure to sunlight is actually the cure for vampirism IF properly utilized.
if they ever make a sequel I hope it will be about how Christopher somehow got resurrected but still is a vampire after getting a second chance he realises what he has done and tries to gain everyones forgiveness for example by curing the subsider turning them back to humans
Jeremy, if you love vampire stuff with a twist, READ (don't watch) Vampire D (the first book) as it just has an amazing back story. In brief, humans destroyed the world with nuclear weapons, then vamps rose from the shadows, dominated the earth. At some point though, they mysteriously went into decline and humans dominated again, left to figure out how to use the futuristic tech the vampires left behind. Awesome setting for the stories.
I think it depends on which vampire lore they follow. Maybe Daybreak followed the same lore as Whedon's Buffy. Their vamps have yellow eyes. If I'm not mistaken, Forever Knight also has yellow eyed vamps.
i wouldve enjoyed this movie, if the cinema we were in didnt have the volume too high, every time the bat/vampire creatures screeched it was ear piercing.
I thought it captured the look of the "vampire" better than twilight. like i thought vampires were supposed to have fangs? which they do in this movie.
I was looking for tone travel movies but looked into to this because Chris said it was somewhat like Predestination but not as good. Even though there’s no time travel, time loop or déjà vu in the movie I will watch it because of your positive review of the movie.
I just watched Daybreakers for the first time. Yeah, for the first time (Absolute Masterpiece, btw). Then, I came to RUclips to watch related content. And look who I found. I think you should make a follow-up video. How you feel about this movie after all these years. Not enough people have watched this gem, and that needs to change.
You are hilarious Jeremy. When you said (I love you Bella, my skin sparkles) I couldn't stop laughing for like 10 mins. Keep up the awesome work, btw yes this movie is Awesome.
You said it, Jeremy..I hated the twilight movies because their vampires don't look like a vampire. Especially hated it when there were no fangs!!!! Vampires with no fangs? WTF?! So, yeah..I just love watching vampires with fangs. Hahaa..
Yessss, a new review! Haha. I have been wondering about this movie, because "vampire" movies as of late have been, as you said, lame...but now I think I may actually see this movie! I find myself agreeing with all of your movie reviews (for the movies I've seen) 100%, so I will take your word for it.
Perfect evaluation of this flick. And also Twilight. Vampires vs Werewolves? Hell yeah! Vampire/Human relationship..sure why not? But the sparkles? Why?
I guess my only critique would be how many times to we have to go to the "I hate being a vampire, it's so blah blah blah" well. The premise of the movie seems rather contrived to me being more of a tongue-in-cheek societal commentary about AIG than a legitimate story. And while I will be the first to shout from the mountain tops that you have never steered me wrong, I still have my doubts. I mean is this really better than Let The Right One In?
This movie was very orginal. Vampire world? Hello! The plot? Interesting! A cure? What the! :D This movie was great. I mean I didn't like the ending (kind of cheesy) but hey, whateves!
Just re-watched this after like, 8 years. It's not bad, but I didn't really find it all that good either. Just an okay vamp movie, which is good enough for me
I was interested in this movie when i first saw the trailer in theaters, so I got it from my local library and holy crap! I did not expect this movie to be that cool!
I just watched this movie and I loved it more than Underworld. I loved the shades of grey in the movie. And about the "romance": Ever since Underworld, I've loved Supernatural Romances. I am a teenage girl. The Twilight movies ruined it. I don't despise Twilight, I just think it's boring as hell with the utmost negative connotations. It's a shame because I absolutely adore KStew... just not in Twilight. I watched this initially for Ethan Hawke. I love vampires too. This movie was just awesome.
i remember years ago seeing the trailer for this movie and going "pretty cool idea but it cant be that interesting" thanks for convincing me to look it up. i obviously missed out
It's so refreshing to hear somebody give Daybreakers a good review, especially after Paul tore the movie limb from limb on Cinema for Cynics (meanwhile he's terminally ass-kissing Wonder Woman and Blade Runner 2049 with praise) .
First time viewer here... You have good points and all, but why making 8 cuts for each sentence? Are you affraid that your audience gets bored between every words?
@thatJACKAL i completely agree with you i feel that this movie was an amazing idea especialy for a different direction as far as vampires go butit felt so unfinished. i think they shud have shot scenes where the soldiers fought the special vamps and of course made a much better ending. but i did like the cast especialy sam neill he fit a vampire role real well in my opinion
I really want to see this movie. I like Twilight, but I'll admit it's NOT a vampire movie. Daybreakers just seems really original and it has vampires who actually drink blood. Finally. Great reviw, you make me laugh :)
As soon as I saw the preview to this movie, it was tattooed on my brain! i have been wanting to see this movie for a while now. The new Vamps rule the world ploy is really fresh. Can't wait to go see it. :)
@jchill1000 my guess is...stabbed through the heart (and every 'traditional' way of killing vamps) make them go BOOM...but otehrwise, they just go bloody (same for the senator-vamp) :)
Well..seen the film on its premier and honestly, I thought you've seen the glaring loopholes in this film. I agree with you on its plot. Great new approach on vampire film..the only problem is its inconsistencies. Best example (SPOILER ALERT). One of the creature attacked Ethan Hawke in his own home. But they killed the creature by stabbing and decapitated it. Now same creature attacked them later in the film, they stabbed it and whoa! it exploded into fiery ashes! Now what the f#%k is that?!
Two things 1. I'm not a fan of Vampire movies, but as Jeremy said I did enjoy it. 2. The evolution of a RUclips reviewer: It's fun to see how Jeremy's movie reviews have changed in 8 years. Gone is the fledgling, serious Jeremy reviews, and now (2018) is the much more witty and polished Jeremy reviews. Plus way back in this review is no hint of Jeremy's Dog Shit to Awesometacular ratings system.
before some friends and I watched this movie we decided to watch your review (take the compliment for what it's worth that we watch your review to decide on whether a movie is worth seeing!) and then when we watched it we kept waiting for the "Han Solo" moment and when it did...I nearly died laughing. Well played.
This movie was so underrated. Thought it was kickass and was super sad there wasn't a sequel :(
if they ever make a sequel I hope it will be about how Christopher somehow got resurrected but still is a vampire after getting a second chance he realises what he has done and tries to gain everyones forgiveness for example by curing the subsider turning them back to humans
13 years later and Jeremy still has this energy I love it
Agree to disagree lol
Just caught this film. That was a good time. Bonus points for all the tech ways vampires have to deal with things like a lack of working mirrors.
this was one of my favorite movies of the year. My favorite thing about it is that it's more scary to be a vampire in the movie instead of a human when it's usually the opposite.
am i the only one who noticed how he seems to not age or get younger as time goes on. from 2010 to 2016 he still seems as young or de aged
That's because he's a vampire.
try now xD
Favorite vampire movie of the last 15 years and really intelligently plotted. Love how it's revealed that exposure to sunlight is actually the cure for vampirism IF properly utilized.
The guys who directed this (Spierig Bro's) also directed Jigsaw and a film called Predestination.
This has to be my favorite vampire movie just after interview with the vampire
+Shadow Wolf twilight is a cult classic
+the Weaver of Worlds you have no idea what a cult classic is
Infametheus you have no idea what sarcasm is.
+Alodelai lol
Benedick's Cumberbitch no just no.i wouldn't even use the twilight blu ray as a coaster
yeah it is a great movie! deep msg which kinda like zombie apocalypse + "in time"+resident evil...totally way cooler than that sparkling vampire movie
Jeremy, what a review, superbly done! ... maybe for me even more entertaining than the movie.
just watched this movie....again. Definitely one of my favorites of all times. There, i said it. Now where's the damn sequel dammit!
if they ever make a sequel I hope it will be about how Christopher somehow got resurrected but still is a vampire after getting a second chance he realises what he has done and tries to gain everyones forgiveness for example by curing the subsider turning them back to humans
We just talked about this movie and I stumbled upon this review. What a great time it was back then :)
Jeremy, if you love vampire stuff with a twist, READ (don't watch) Vampire D (the first book) as it just has an amazing back story.

Dropping off a infinity stone in this time line...
i wouldve enjoyed this movie, if the cinema we were in didnt have the volume too high, every time the bat/vampire creatures screeched it was ear piercing.
IT WAS A FIRE FIIIIIIGHT!!! I know its the wrong movie but you gotta say it when you mention Willam Dafoe
Willem DaFoe who , let's face it, looks more vampire than human on a good day ... hillarious!!! I love Willem DaFoe
It's based off of a book, which I heard was much better than Twilight, so, who knows?
DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!!!
i totally noticed the han solo thing too!!!
he has the vest and EVERYTHING
What should i see, this or sherlock holmes?
wait wait, so what's the rating you give this movie??
looks like a lot of people haven't seen Interview with the Vampire
you have no idea how happy i am to here your voice dude
two of my favorite vampire movies the lost boys1-3, and daybreakers. best movies ever.
I thought it captured the look of the "vampire" better than twilight. like i thought vampires were supposed to have fangs? which they do in this movie.
I really loved watchin Daybreakers, interesting part is the cure... who'd would have thought that?
I wish this movie had gotten a sequel!
I wish he'd do more impressions now!
I was looking for tone travel movies but looked into to this because Chris said it was somewhat like Predestination but not as good. Even though there’s no time travel, time loop or déjà vu in the movie I will watch it because of your positive review of the movie.
I never saw this but now I am going to watch! Thanks Jeremy from the past!
Decided to watch this movie tonight cause I remember first seeing it in 2010. Wanted to see if your thoughts mirrored mine. Wasn’t disappointed 👍🏽
If you'd like to see a great Willem Dafoe movie with a vampire in it, check out
"Shadow of the Vampire" John Malkovich stars in the movie as well.
You are hilarious Jeremy. When you said (I love you Bella, my skin sparkles) I couldn't stop laughing for like 10 mins. Keep up the awesome work, btw yes this movie is Awesome.
Happy Holloween in 2020!
when I went to see the movie it was Awesome
You said it, Jeremy..I hated the twilight movies because their vampires don't look like a vampire.
Especially hated it when there were no fangs!!!! Vampires with no fangs? WTF?!
So, yeah..I just love watching vampires with fangs. Hahaa..
i saw this movie when i was 10 or 11 and is it a rated R movie my babeysitter was so awsome
Yessss, a new review! Haha.
I have been wondering about this movie, because "vampire" movies as of late have been, as you said, lame...but now I think I may actually see this movie! I find myself agreeing with all of your movie reviews (for the movies I've seen) 100%, so I will take your word for it.
Do one on Stuber
"What's his face, and what's her nuts?"
LMAO!
Perfect evaluation of this flick. And also Twilight. Vampires vs Werewolves? Hell yeah! Vampire/Human relationship..sure why not? But the sparkles? Why?
Skeaping o that why was lando wearing hans outfet in that last secen in the empier strikes back?
@054martinm .... thats a good way to think about it
i was hoping you'd give this movie a positive review. i'm seeing it asap.
TV shows/movies like true blood, vampire dairies, and twilight crap completely ruined vampires for me
This movie was enjoyable. It really brings vampires back.
@groovygreenrobot why cuz the vampires didnt sparkle?
This movie was very orginal. Vampire world? Hello! The plot? Interesting! A cure? What the! :D
This movie was great. I mean I didn't like the ending (kind of cheesy) but hey, whateves!
Just re-watched this after like, 8 years. It's not bad, but I didn't really find it all that good either. Just an okay vamp movie, which is good enough for me
Just watched it again! It was the best concept for a vampire movie in a long time. But the execution was not great!
Fabiano neat concept for sure! And some solid characters
I was interested in this movie when i first saw the trailer in theaters, so I got it from my local library and holy crap! I did not expect this movie to be that cool!
Wat is the cure ?
I just watched this movie and I loved it more than Underworld. I loved the shades of grey in the movie. And about the "romance":

I watched this initially for Ethan Hawke. I love vampires too. This movie was just awesome.
Enjoyed it very much.
inde movie or cw show??
Watched this movie without expectations and was pleasantly surprised of how much I enjoyed it. Probably a 9/10 in my book
Just watched it! It's tremendously refreshing take on vampire films
Please review 30 Days of Night!
Interesting. I'd like to see this if it reminds me of the time when Blade was part of our idea of vampires.
This movie saved the vampire franchise
i remember years ago seeing the trailer for this movie and going "pretty cool idea but it cant be that interesting" thanks for convincing me to look it up. i obviously missed out
It's so refreshing to hear somebody give Daybreakers a good review, especially after Paul tore the movie limb from limb on Cinema for Cynics (meanwhile he's terminally ass-kissing Wonder Woman and Blade Runner 2049 with praise) .
btw you have to be an old vampire movie fan to like this movie..at least thats what my friend said..but i still cant wait to see this movie
I have to say that this was one of the better and more interesting vampire movies to come out in resent years.
First time viewer here... You have good points and all, but why making 8 cuts for each sentence? Are you affraid that your audience gets bored between every words?
He gets easily distracted and loses his train of thought. He explained this before.
@thatJACKAL i completely agree with you i feel that this movie was an amazing idea especialy for a different direction as far as vampires go butit felt so unfinished. i think they shud have shot scenes where the soldiers fought the special vamps and of course made a much better ending. but i did like the cast especialy sam neill he fit a vampire role real well in my opinion
i loved Daybreakers
For me is like "Gattaca"(i love this movie) but with vampire
It's a movie for geek but with a message...
Jeremy's editing has really come a long way.
I finally saw it and I really loved it and loved the idea of the film. It’s on peacock so if anyone has this app or wants to see this film.
Great movie and it be epic to have a sequel.
This movie brought back the badass vampires we remember from the 1980s! Or at least movies like Lost Boys (the first movie, not the horrible sequels).
Han Solo? I watched daybreakers awhile ago, I never noticed that!
That's it, I'm rewatching it.
loved this movie
Came here again after Ryan Hollinger's video on the film.
this movie was.....AWESOMETACULAR
@jchill1000
my guess is...stabbed through the heart (and every 'traditional' way of killing vamps) make them go BOOM...but otehrwise, they just go bloody (same for the senator-vamp) :)
You are not the only one out there bro..

yeah i was impressed with this one so glad there werent any sparkly vampires
Holy smokes, I just realised who this reviewer is lmao. What a difference 12 years makes haha. And the beard 😅
Daybreaker was amazing no doubt.
Anyone here?
Jeremy you've learned as time has passed. Ever go back and be like I still hate twilight.
"Whats his face and whats her nuts." LOL too funny
Two things
Jeremy, you are the king of reviewing^^,
Still waiting for the sequel 😂😂😂
before some friends and I watched this movie we decided to watch your review (take the compliment for what it's worth that we watch your review to decide on whether a movie is worth seeing!) and then when we watched it we kept waiting for the "Han Solo" moment and when it did...I nearly died laughing. Well played.
I was going to avoid this movie, but thanks to my trust in your opinion and taste, I will give a view. :D
The previews looked good and I was wondering about your reaction. Great review!
In this movie the lawyers really are bloodsuckers!
Who would have thought that an Australian made vampire film, shows the rest of the world on how vampire films should be done.
It sounds like a really great movie,
I'm going to go see it :D
great review Jeremy!
Best review ever... I loved the same movies that u do
YES! thats right Sir.Jeremy Jahns. Day Breakers is great.
