diy remap kit, xbox one elite controller, trigger stop,
what a great cheap mod to do, appreciate you bringing this to light.
Not a big deal but you said in the video to set your iron to 420 F but it's actually Celcius. And, it's always a good idea to dab a little flux on your soldering points for better solder adhesion and for the longevity of those weld points. Metal oxidizes with heat and flux makes sure there is no oxidation in the weld.
Using a wet sponge or a cleaning brass pad to clean the tip of your iron after you solder each point (so you would solder one point, then quickly wipe the tip, then do the next one, then wipe the tip etc.) will also ensure a much better weld for each point and reduce the possible need to go back and re-solder a bad weld.
The key with soldering electronics is to get in and get out AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE while making sure the solder flows into the junction. Heat can travel up the various leads on a circuit board and overheat chips if you hold an iron down too long on any point that you're soldering.
Also, it looked like one of your test LEDs didn't light up, I'm curious - did you have to go back in and re-solder any of those points?
Over-all, a good video ... perhaps too many ads, but a good video none-the-less.
P.S. - the TSB10off code no longer works on Amazon
I've been educating myself taking apart these and fixing the analogs do to heavy drifting from playing COD games I'm not a 8hr a day player but anyone that plays these games knows it don't take long to create drifting after a few months of playing just few hours a day on average and so far I've fixed many of my controllers and friends of mine I'm glade they trusted me 😂 but I enjoy watching and learning and working on these controllers they aren't cheap . This is my next challenge and its not hard I've had to do some sod work just pulling some wires off to get to other areas of the controller . This is gonna be a challenge I have a controller ready for this.. I'll be ready for my workshop once I'm successful, save people money on these controllers and if they wanna upgrade than I can provide that..
Bro! Tin your solder tip!
Great job explaining how to install it. It would be good if you gave an in depth review as well as this would help show if it is worth the effort.
Saying that it seems like a very good, well designed product.
There was a gen 1.5 controller (looks the same as the original) that had 3.5mm jack. This will probably only work on ONE S or newer controllers (full solid face plate)
awesome vid mate, defo be investing in this kit.like how you explain everything.wish more would follow your technique
I haven't soldered since I was in college well over a decade ago... I still want to give this a shot, I have several extra Xbox controllers that are gathering dust. Wish me luck!
Did you do it??😶
@@gamerblondie28twitch58 I've just done this today. Done a bit of soldering over the years, but far from an expert. This wasn't too bad. With a steady hand and a bit of patience it's very do-able. There are a couple of solder points that are quite close together and I actually crossed them at one point so had to be quick to try and break the bridge without melting the new ribbon. Aside from that it's not a bad little project.
@@Taffyaptor oh that's good! I'm still a novice at soldering too, I've only done a handful of projects that turned out okay like frontlight modding the gbc and making a ds macro. I'll have to practice more before I break a $60 controller
Send me one I’ll do it for you free of charge I’ve done it for many people so far to help during this BS going on.
"open the cap of tha black guy" im wheezing
Great video, I just noticed at the start when you are un-screwing the 5 screws, you can also just take off the sticker its not needed
Glad your uploading current topics
Great video as always, unfortunately I do not trust myself. If I did I would change my Nintendo switch shelll and joycons
Rp Just buy this. www.amazon.com/PowerA-Fusion-Pro-Wired-Controller-Xbox/dp/B07XQXQMR9/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=powera+fusion+pro+controller+xbox+one&qid=1576987190&sprefix=powerA+fus&sr=8-2
ResidentRecon89 I have that and I do like but not love it... the sticks are a little weird feeling but totally fine but the only problem for me is that it is too thin... it needs to be thicker like the Xbox one controller is.
If the Power/ was fatter and filled out my hands more vs me feeling like I’m crushing it in my hands like how a regular Xbox 1 controller feels I would NEVER EVER use ANYTHING but the PowerA again!
Who else was screaming about the red wire left outside after he closed the controller?
I‘ve soldered any of the points in my eyes Good. But When im at the Point of testing the led‘s, my Controller wont Turn on with the usb cable. Why is this so?😩
six tries and a couple of hours later, i STILL cannot get TP22 to light up. i think my board is fucked at this point, probably burnt to a crisp
Oh wow rip, I guess risks gotta be taken when you soldering electronics
WOW thanks dide u saved me alot of money
Nice! ... 😀👍
All your solder points were cold soldered. They might not last, you should try using flux when soldering.
I did off camera. Good observation and good review of the back button attachment homie.
Tech Savvy Buyer - nice, I do a lot of local repairs of game boys. And cold solders are usually what I find when they stop working. Thanks for the feed back on my video RUclips Algorithms are promoting the crap out of it.
@@OkiDingo haha nice! Best of luck with the channel dude.
Tech Savvy Buyer - Thanks brother, you too.
I'm new to all of this but I have done some soldering. Would it be best to add a bead of solder onto the connection points before laying the ribbon board in place. Then it would be just heating through the hole and letting the solder come through. I would think that would be the best connection
Just buy a power a spectra Xbox controller.... it already has trigger stops and two remappable buttons on the back for 40$... no soldering required..
Hi I need a tutorial to use adrenaline in vita 3.72 mine don't work thanx
Does this apply to new xbox series s controller?
I’ve done soldering and circuit boards in general but Xbox controllers are unpredictable unfortunately so idk if this will even work 😐
Lol you realize what you just said right? 😂
“Idk if this will even work”
THAT GOES FOR ANYTHING IN LIFE!! You have a 50/50 chance for either outcomes
A) Works
B) Doesn’t work
😂 😂 😂 FFS
I love my upgraded PS4 controller. I only use the bottom two buttons. Switched over to PC and still using it. But the added trigger stops on this Xbox controller seems to be the move o.O
also take it too the next level you can do elite 2 thumbstick mod people are selling eilte 2 thumbstick kits
extremerate is hella smart
Sorry im new to custom controllers but is it possible to buy a mother board or w/e that green thing is thats already modified??
Am i able to purchase an elite motherboard and back plate and just install it to my current controller?
I wish but if you had the knowledge and tools maybe you could...
But just buy and swap it like oil filter... no it will not work that way
Great video
Damn. I wish i could solder.
Find junk to practice on, its easy. Just clean and tin your tip and clean flux with alcohol after.
Is it worth it for only 2 buttons? I've never used the elite but I see that would benefit from one.
cant really recommend the product. I really just wanted something fun to do while I was at home, but If you are looking to save money, look elsewhere. 50ish bucks for the controller, 30-40 for the kit, another 10-20 in shipping, then $40 for a decent soldering iron. At that point, youre almost at elite 2 money. Certainly more expensive than a refurbished Elite one.
On top of that, it legitimately takes over a month for them to get it to you from china. Plus, its really not that enjoyable of a build. Lastly, I've known heroin addicts that work more reliably.
If you know what buttons you want to have mapped, just buy some switches and solder them directly to the board.
@IM DOOZY you 100% need a soldering iron. Likely one with an adustable heat setting. What else do you plan on doing, heat up a coat hanger on the stovetop? If you think my advice is so bad, youre more than welcome to buy the kit yourself. be sure to report back in when you destroy your PCB.
@@dean4696 reporting in it was super easy, luckily I had a soldering iron, also shipping was free, it works perfect, 2 day delivery, and I'm pretty sure soldering isn't necessary, stop hating
Can u combine it with led lights with that controller u just mad? The would be the best.
I think so. Don't see why not
@@TechSavvyBuyer that's amazing how u explain the steps it's has inspired me to try it but I don't want to mass it up can u do I for me with the coloured lights I'll pay u 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽and a thumb grip on it. im in the UK tho
Extreme rate mal a Video with Led's and der remap kit
YO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS PADDLES THAT CAN GO ON THE SERIES X CONTROLLER NO STRIKE PACK JUST PADDLES THAT I CAN MAP MY A AND B BUTTON TO THEM ????
What do you have to do if you just want trigger stops
I followed you video and I can use the new buttons but for some reason my right number doesn’t work. Any suggestions?
does it work on the xbox series x controller?
My TP22 light wont come on too Argh! I'm being real careful with time spent with the tip on there but i'm on attempt 4 and decided to give it a break. I couldnt find their help advice for lights that wont come on... I feel like there is no help section after checking all their youtube and internet page :/
My frickin solder ribbon wouldnt wick up the bead, as I wanted to see if i could see test point 22 through the hole... How did you do it in the end? I was also wondering if it could be a faulty LED #WISHFULTHINKING
I melted extra solder all over it then took another tweezer and pushed the ribbon cable down hard and melted it again to ensure it stuck with it. Worked after the 3rd try for me. I know the frustration. The hardest part for me, believe it or not, was reattachkng the damn wifi cable. That broke on me...... TWICE!!
TP22 is a bitch. 6 attempts for me now, and my lofty strip is starting to look melted/heat worn around TP22.
EDIT: I eventually got it to work. TP22 is still buggered, so I can't map the paddles to the X button, but everything else works fine. Loving this controller mod!
Is it worth it
Will this work on an old xbox one controller, like from when the console first came out?
No it has to be the new one that has a headphone jack
Would this controller still function by its new design
If I also wanted to use a controller attacked keyboard
Rechargeable battery pack
Also is there any sort of internal mic attachment for Xboxones controllers yet?
I’m wanting to build a custom controller
can you just use hot glue instead of solering
No lol
Lmao soldering isn't just for adhesion it's for conduction
What's up bro?
Lol it cost 36 dollars and and the video is 30 mins and 6 secs long
What if my controller tester doesn’t light up at all
this man dont know what the back plate is he called it a face plate he also dont know his directions said left was right and right was left lmao
Can I leave the rumbles out? I always turn vibration off in every game anyways
U can I guess but it may throw off the balance idk
How about I am not going to hold his hand to get him any more followers on this platform ha ha good luck
What?
Dude, you have got Eczema on your right palm. Show it to doctor.
Lmao any Ps4 player watch this and realize how much easier and better Ps4 is 😂
Finding new Elite controllers for $100 isn't that hard so I don't see the purpose in spending $100 for this.
It's not $100 tho it's like £36 and a soldering iron is like $14 so if you have a Xbox one controller then it's only cost $50 where and elite series 2 controller cost $160
Please tell me where to find a new elite controller for $100, lmao
So it’s actually the price of the original controller PLUS $36. You’re just better off getting the real thing UNLESS you are someone who likes to mod or is able to mod.
Yep but most ppl already have the controller that's why it's not really counting the controller cost
Ya but you get a controller with your Xbox so really it's only £36 plus $14 for soldering iron if you do t have one much cheaper the $150 for the real thing
I’m poor so this may be my only way to get an elite controller.
The real thing is $180. I’m on my second elite controller and it already has issues again. probably gonna get a standard controller and mod it.
Does this work with the new xbox controller
