    Very cool, I'm using a Collective Minds strike pack eliminator for my 1708 controller and am happy with it. It just slides into the battery cover slot, but does not offer wireless functionality. If I ever get a 1914 controller, this is the mod I'll definitely look at getting. Thanks for the detailed video.

      It's a blast and the fact that you can use your battery compartment is just a huge plus. :)

      Noob question, what's a 1708 and 1914? Does this refer to the model number of controller design or generation of controller? Thanks in advance. Super interested in retrofitting and whatnot and just started my journey Into this type Of stuff and I love knowing details like that. Thanks in advance

      @@hotdropknockdndc681 Yes that's the model number, you can find it on the label inside the battery compartment. Different mods/accessories are designed for and only work with certain models of the Xbox controllers. Certain models have Bluetooth, the 1914 has a USB type C cable connection, while the older ones use micro USB cable connection. If you look at the description in the Amazon link above, it says: "Only fits for Xbox Series X/S, for Xbox Core controller (Model 1914)". I believe that's the latest/current model out now. Solderking's videos are so well done, it gave me confidence to tear open and fix my own controller by removing and replacing the analog joystick. It works like new now...Happy modding/fixing.

    I had the old kit, which I installed on my Xbox One S controller. It worked fine, except the back plate that came with the kit wasn't a perfect replica of the original. This meant I had to get my dremel to it and grind some parts out so the triggers wouldn't scrape on the inside of the controller. Overall it worked OK. Since then I bought an Elite Series 2. The cost is obviously quite a bit more but, all in all, I'd go with the Elite controller.

    I'm thinking of doing this (alongside the supposed GuliKit sticks that they've said they'll release for Xbox controllers in time--they're supposedly Hall Sensors) for my controller since my luck with the Elite Series 2 was terrible. Do you think it's possible to add in an extra two buttons to this kit? (If not, I suppose I'd need to manually solder them direct and couldn't remap them.) Six back buttons would be perfect for me.

    Make a Hall effect thumbstick and try to reuse the circuit ps3 controllers used to use. You’d need to solder on a new pcb with opamps to convert the current to voltage and many add some resistors

      I have thought about that! There are a few hurdles to overcome with size and mechanically mounting a magnet.

    I think you could replace the foam piece and put them into the new one then it would be fixed? Have you tried it.

    Can you reuse the original side grip pieces if you wanted to? I've got a white controller and was thinking of getting this kit in black but I would like to keep using the original white side grips and only have black on the bottom of the controller.

    • @Solder_king

    What temp is a good temp to do This? 300c-350c I'm guessing?

    • @Solder_king
      @Solder_king  2 года назад +1

      My irons always on the higher side. I typically use around 400c. Dwell time is the important thing to consider. I'd say 350 would be perfect for this.
