I would check with Lauren this Alaska life she has an amazing freezer bin system for her chest freezer that I think your family would really benefit from also can’t wait to see how the house comes together and yes the Costco business is perfect for Chuck roll
For someone who stays on my own for 16plus years of rented rooms I can feel your excitement of the new house. Like Ive said before, feels like I'm in the video going through the journey with ya guys. Quality video. Even if it is just Ur everyday life. And coming from someone who don't own any social platforms Ure the only family that I keep track on Ur videos. I sounded like I'm super old 😂😂I'm 42 this year btw. Anyways happy advance birthday forest❤❤❤ U are growing up so fast through the videos. Good night family 😊
That's quite the Costco haul! Love coming along on all your shopping trips, food adventures, and family trips! Kelly, you may want to invest (or you may have, and are waiting for it to come with your belongings) an instant pot. I only will make my bulk beans this way. I make them, then freeze them in small quantities....for whatever I need them for. LOVE your recipes and other veggie stuff!!
An Alaskan family I watch just used a pro vacumn sealer for their moose meat. They said it worked much better than a regular one. They have a freeze dryer too, very big in Alaska. Love your videos!
I’m so happy about the artichokes, we could never get them this time of year and I love them so much. They bring good memories. Also that’s cool you make the sauce with Worcestershire sauce. I’ve only used mayonnaise and lemon juice and maybe some garlic but will try that next time. This was comforting to watch.
I live in Eagle River. I found your videos about two months ago. I love your family and I love that you took your whole family almost all over the world. I hope someday I get to meet y’all.
My husband works at Costco on Dimond and is off Wednesday’s and Thursday’s. If you ever go any other day’s, please ask to say hello to Big John! He knows I watch your channel and I bet he’d love to say hi! He works membership/doors.
Loving your Alaska videos :) we started watching your channel during your travels - but enjoying the Alaskan videos so much! You have a lovely family x
Your idea about the ribs & cutting yourself is an excellent idea. Another Alaska channel does it. He cuts his own baby back ribs, & then cooks up the end pieces for bbq pulled pork! Can't wait till you're on the list for road kill moose!
You should do an Amazon wishlist. I follow a girl in Canada who refinishes furniture and people send her tools and all sorts of woodworking stuff from her wishlist. People are generous and do love to help if they can. Anyway, another stellar video❤🎉
I think you're doing great with what you have . Until your shipment comes in . I'm glad you bought a freezer . That way, when you find something on sale or catch fish or moose 🫎 you'll have what you need . Great video ,such well-mannered, helpful children . Have a blessed week !
Kelly, you should look up a recipe for Dry Fruits Ladoo. (I use the Hebbar’s Kitchen recipe) I make it all the time. It’s vegetarian, packed full of nutrients and delicious! Uses Majool dates!😊
My main thing that I buy in bulk is 10 lb tube of hamburger. I usually baggie up some and bulk cook some. After it's browned up I put them in baggies individual portions and family portions. In a hurry for a meal. Pull a baggie out and use as needed. Also in the deep freezer you can use cloth recycle shopping bags to separate breakfast, meats, veggies, fruits etc.
I also vac seastfreezer meats. I use smaller stackable tote containers. Its easy to grab a chicken tote, beef or fish tote, etc., and its another layer of protection from freezer burn. Mainly for organization though. Love your video.
I buy big bags of potatoes when theeyre on sale. I cut them up and blanch them and then freeze them. You can make your own fries, hashbrowns, etc. Way cheaper than frozen potatoes from the atore. We love getting summer squash and zucchini in season and freezing those. Always freeze onions, garlic, ginger and peppers.
Hi Guys, Welcome back to the US. I'm an American retired to Mexico. Been here 37 years. I've been cooking since I was 12, so that's 60 years now. If I can be of any help with recipes etc don't be shy to ask. About the chest freezer. Becky from Acre Homestead found an interesting solution to keeping her 3 freezers in order. She uses Sturdy cloth bags which stack nicely and this way she can keep the newer things on the bottom and the older items on the top. She alos freezes all her bulk flour and grains to kill any bug larvae. Best of luck in your new home. All the Best Jacques
Hey Jacques, thanks so much for the tips! We would love to visit Mexico in 2025! I bet the food is amazing! Thanks for recommending Becky; I'll check out her channel.
@@BagsPackedFamily Greetings. I don't know if you guys have ever visited. Mexico is quite large, mountainous, and has a wide variety of gastronomic cultural events. I suggest you read up on it. The weather here is quite mild in winter. I myself prefer off season visiting, e.g. Beaches in January But wherever you go there will be new food and often archelogical sites. Jacques
Jonathan, you mean ' reading glasses'😂....another name 'old age glasses' 😂....which is what I have been wearing the last 5 years. I started with 1 pair (store bought), and now i have 1 in every room in my house😂😂
I use my deep freeze for meats and my stand up for veggies. No leaking if something happens and i keep juice bottles to fill 3/4 with water and freeze. You have blocks of ice if power goes out. Saved us many times and never lost food.
Jonathan I feel you on the glasses😂. At the end when you were reading the spices I was like you will be so happy to have glasses❤❤❤❤ you definitely look ready to get prepared for Alaska living❤❤
I have huge cheast freezer from 1996 n biggest upright they make it's just hubby n I but we are parents of 8 k8ds so I keep enough food on hand to feed all of us for 4 months or more. between freezers n my canning
I don’t know if you want to use any of these. Tips . But. I will buy pork loin slice my own chops. And usually have enough for a pork roast. You can make for bbq or shred for tacos . The ground beef. I separate by pounds and the chuck roast I season and pack it with your sealer and freeze it. . Vegetables you can do just like from the garden den and separate from large packages in to separate dinner portions. My season his potatoes and vacuum packs them also his salmon 😊
Never had artichoke before. It's not a normal veggie here in my country. Will you be able to include a video on how you're preparing it & cook it? Thank you.
Start Raising your own animals for freezers lol . I have two chest freezers and to make it easier to know what i have I use cardboard boxes to organize by pork , chicken , fish , red meats also for fruits and veggies. makes it so much easier. also to save on electric bill freezers outside in the winter months mean they dont need to be plugged in. Nature makes its own freezer..
My upright freezer is over 11 years old. My chest freezer I bought at a garage sale for $50.00. I've had it for over 14 years and who knows how long it had been used before I bought it.
I like how your deep freezer has a light in it. You should get the freezer system Lauren from This Alaska Life has. I believe it’s called the freezer max system. You should check her video out. I have a small deep freezer chest and wish I had a large one. 😊
The kiwi fruit was originally called Chinese Gooseberry from China, until New Zealand started growing them and exporting them. Named after New Zealands Kiwi bird. Kiwi are flightless birds endemic to New Zealand. I enjoy your videos and now live in Australia in the warmth of Queensland. It would be hard going from the warmth of Indonesia to Alaska cold.😬
I wonder how they handling the cold and not much sun shine . Or not have to worry about traveling so much . And making friends and staying in school and sticking with eating some food or drinks . Or having gatherings more often . Or what they miss or don't miss
It’s definitely a transition! We lived in Alaska about nine years ago, for around nine years, so we’re somewhat used to the darkness. But it’s definitely an adjustment after living near the equator for so many years.
You need to be really organised with your deep freeze so that you know what is in there and where it is, also know use by dates. Label everything and seperate foods into bags or containers and maybe keep a list. You don’t need to vacuum everything if it is going to go into the freezer and you are sure you will use it in the next six months. Vacuum seal bags are expensive. I just double seal a lot of the freezer food.
You will really love your seal-a-meal. I've had one for over 19 years. I also have a chest freezer and an upright freezer. I like the upright freezer better as far as seeing what's in it. I'm 71 years old and retired. I live only on my Social Security so if I can save a dollar, I will. Did you know that the food that you use your seal-a-meal with can last up to 3 years ?
n super small if I bought that it would be for just veggies n some fruit. garage ready means it can be in garage in liver 48 like where I live in so nv. my garage is 120 n above in summer with fans

Instead of one 11 cubic feet upright freezer with very good organization for $300 and one 16 cubic feet chest freezer with no organization for $650 (grand total of 27 cubic feet for $950), I would have bought three 11 cubic feet freezers (33 cubic feet total) for $900. More space, less money, and better organization. Of course, that’s because I have been hating my 3 chest freezers and am longing to replace them with these upright freezers instead. 😀

I agree Lauren's freezer system is awesome.
I purchased the same upright freezer last week. The folks at Costco loaded it in my CRV and I was able to unload it myself. I’m a young 71!

Yes, we have an Instant Pot in our shipment. Kelly loves it! She’ll definitely start cooking beans with it-I imagine it’ll be much cheaper that way.

I’ve not been able to find the upright freezer here in the lower 48 on eastern nc
Your such a nice family and great parents ❤
Amazing haul guys ❤ And a very happy birthday to dear Forest ❤🎉
Thank you so much 😀 He is the big 6!
@ big boy still cute 😊
Best recommendation for vacuum sealing is to label and date EVERYTHING! It all looks the same when frozen 😅
Your house is very nice and scenery is stunning ❤
awesome stuff to stock up on, Have a good day and keep warm.

Don't buy already shredded cheese! Esp if you have a grater. Even a hand held if your food processor is still on vacation on the road! Lol

Green kiwi are from New Zealand not Australia
Kiwifruit 🥝🥝 is from New Zealand. Not Australia.
Nothing but the best
Vacuum seal those burgers they get freezer burnt😊
Will do!
