I got rid of my Costco membership a couple of years ago. Best decision I ever made. My grocery bill went down by 20% because I was not filling my cart with all the Costco "deals". I buy about 80% of all my groceries from Azure, including milk and the other 20% from Walmart. I love not having to navigate the Costco parking lot and store with my four kids. I buy organic bulk spices from Frontier. I think Azure has some of their stuff. If you haven’t tried the Azure chocolate chips I would definitely recommend them. We enjoy them so much more than any we have bought in stores. I haven’t done a cost comparison but since we use them so infrequently it is worth any added cost for the quality. We also really enjoy their organic dried mangoes since that isn’t something we grow and preserve. The quality surpasses that of Costco and Trader Joe’s in our opinion.
My grandparents always raised sugar cane. Pressed it. Cooked it to make molasses. Honey is good but heated it is not so good for you. Whole sugar cane sugar called jaggery in India is so good to bake with. But it is just sugar cane juice cooked and made into a block. Just a thought since you are doing so well at homesteading. Just fyi.
@FromScratchFarmstead when I was 5 in the 1950s I saw a child ( very old man) born in 1880s from parents who had been slaves. we got to watch a mule attached to a press pole walking round and round in a large circle ( with a straw hat and a dangling piece of dried corn cob hanging before his face). His movement, easy and gentle was the energy that turned the two wood slabs that pressed the sugar cane into an enormous kettle. It must have been 8 feet wide. Shallow like a wok shape but very wide bottomed to give lots of space at the bottom for the juice to heat up. The man stirred it over the open wood fire, with something that looked like a boat oar. It was a long process. I loved meeting that gentle black man and seeing how it had been done in the 1800s. Maybe the smoky taste would be better in molasses/ shorgum from the wood fire. I also met a farmer in Pennsylvania last year that was making what he called hickory syrup. He took water and soaked hickory bark ( I wondered about cherry bark too) in it closed for a week or so, strained it carefully to purify, then added sugar and cooked it to a thick syrup. It was delicious. I have also had clean fresh pine and spruce needles steeped in water as a hot tea on the west coast.
@@mayasaktiishaya7515I want to try the tender tips pine tea. Now I am enjoying new shoots of prostrate? (Low growing) rosemary tea from a plant that grows on the window sill.😊 These types of teas are so refreshing.
Thanks for the video, i got some ideas on what you get from azure. Didn't know they had collegen! Is the carob powder a big change from cocoa powder? I wasn't sure if my kids would notice the switch. We have tried a few of your recipes and they are all a hit with the kids! I'm learning your dairy recipes while i wait for our own dairy cow!
Hi! Carob powder is definitely a change from cocoa powder. Initially I wasn't sure how I felt about it but it quickly grew on me and now I really enjoy it. My kids seemed the same way. They aren't too picky about food in general but especially anything sweet so they were ok with it!
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but another lady I saw uses the pint and a half canning jars for her spices, apparently most of the spice bags fill one per bag. In case this helps anyone.
Last year in December Azure did an “abundant pantry” promo where they put all Azure Market, Azure Market Organic & Azure Canning Co. Products 15% off. I wonder if they will do that again this year? I might call to find out. Just fyi in case the timing for your next big order lines up.
Thank you! It’s from Neuflora (my favorite clothing brand). They have so many pieces that work so well for any stage (maternity, nursing, etc). I put a link in the description and a coupon code :)
Wow $320 for a few months groceries, thats so amazing, nice work mama! We live in Australia and sadly don't have Azure or really anything similar. I'd say Australia is pretty far behind with organic groceries and it can be a real challenge to source. We grow a lot of veg and take a trip to the big smoke every few months to stock up on bulk organic flours, cheese, dry goods etc but I really wish we had options closer to us. It's worth it though, I'm a firm believer that we'd be spending the money on trying to fix our health issues if we weren't spending it on good quality nourishment!
Now are those containers that the Worcestershire sauce is in and apple cider vinegar is in are they BPA in phalate free. It's too bad the Glass isn't utilized more
We all love them straight out of the jar :). It may sound strange but they've all had them from time to time since they were babies so it feels like a special treat.
I am a member of Sam's club and while I wish it were Costco, the Sam's is so convenient I only pay $25 to my sister in law and I get free shipping right to my home. That saves me so much time
I see you bought peanut butter. I was told I should only buy peanut butter that just contains peanuts and salt but that is a lot more expensive. Most other peanut butters have added oil and sugar. We go through a lot of peanut butter. Your thoughts if it has oil and sugar?
How do you use the sardines from Costco? I know they are good for you, but as someone who doesn’t eat them, wondering how I can slowly incorporate them. Thanks!
We just eat them raw out of the can :). But if that's too much for you, sometime I'll add them as the protein in a stir fry with greens and veggies. We love them!
Can you please share your hot cocoa mix with the carob powder?? I'm inspired and want to try it!! People are saying to use the cacao powder.. and that the carob isn't that sweet? but i'd really rather not add sweetners or the caffeine for my family . And now i'm deciding between the 1lb or 5lb haha.
Just a couple notes about Azure: Freeze any wheat berries for a day to kill any potential weevils before storing. Also, do not buy their canning lids they are very cheap. The jars are great though.
FYI Nestle chocolate chips have a bioengineered ingredient (I’m thinking GMO?) and I think also natural flavors! They didn’t used to add those things. It’s crazy that chocolate would “need” natural flavors. Walmart great value dark chocolate chips don’t list those things. I bet Azure would have some clean ones too.
Ugh. So frustrating. I wasn’t thrilled when I saw that Costco changed to Nestle just recently and I agree that i think I’ll look into azure for the future or another bulk option. Thanks for the comment and watching!
I wanted to get into couponing but when I realized every coupon is processed junk and not real food, I changed my mind. I watched so many videos on couponing and how people could walk out with a cart full and pay less than $10 and I was almost on board… but when I looked for healthy fresh produce and meat there are no coupons for them. Maybe I’ll use one if I have some “natural” dish soap or something like that but almost can never use a coupon for real food.
Hi there! According to their website it is aluminum free and pure sodium bicarbonate. I'm sure you could email them with more specific questions! Thanks for watching!
What kind of store is azure. I tried looking it up but it says it is a platform for help with Google. I have never heard of it before. But I do live in SC

Ugh! I wasn't excited about the nestle option. I think I will look into Azure for the future even though they are expensive. Others have said that they are amazing!
I buy Eden Foods and do the rest of my shopping at near by farms. There's too much junk in the majority of the stores; even u$d@ organic admits they have $entheti($ in their 'food 😢
I was just looking at Azure vs Costco yesterday! I learned of an Azure drop near me, so thought I might try it. The prices seem quite high though! Is it really worth it?
It really depends on what you're getting. I find costco cheaper for most items and still the same quality. However, Azure will have things Costco won't...wheat berries, organic corn masa, are 2 I can think of that I get regularly.
For certain things, yes! It took me a long time to finally try Azure after knowing about it for years but we needed to stock up on grains and Azure is definitely the place to get them. Wheat berries, beans, bulk coconut oil, and some baking things. They have some things that Costco doesn't.
Spices in bulk lose their sense once they're not fresh. Once they're not adding flavour and smell to the food, they are just little dry things you find in your meal 😕. I only bought organic pasta once, I thought, once all the ingredients were added, tomato sauce, meat, anchovies, olives, or whatever, it shouldn't be so different, but it was. Return to pasta all'uovo. Sometimes I try to save, and the world is against me.
I agree that you definitely don't want those bulk spices sitting around too long so I try to stick to ones that we use up pretty quickly. Thanks for watching! :)

We have tried a few of your recipes and they are all a hit with the kids! I'm learning your dairy recipes while i wait for our own dairy cow!
I tried the “raw” carob from azure and it is a definite change in taste. It looks like they have ordered the “roasted”, which I am not sure about.
@@alystodola yea they make it seem like it's sweeter, so hopefully she will answer so I can add it to my next order!
Hi! Carob powder is definitely a change from cocoa powder. Initially I wasn't sure how I felt about it but it quickly grew on me and now I really enjoy it. My kids seemed the same way. They aren't too picky about food in general but especially anything sweet so they were ok with it!
@@FromScratchFarmstead thank you so much for your reply, we love your channel. Have a blessed day!
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but another lady I saw uses the pint and a half canning jars for her spices, apparently most of the spice bags fill one per bag. In case this helps anyone.
That is helpful! Thanks for sharing!
Loved this video!
You're welcome!!
Last year in December Azure did an “abundant pantry” promo where they put all Azure Market, Azure Market Organic & Azure Canning Co. Products 15% off. I wonder if they will do that again this year? I might call to find out. Just fyi in case the timing for your next big order lines up.
Ooh! Thanks for sharing!
👍 love your videos
We got the chicken sausage when we where at our state fair( we rented a house for 5 days, because my son shows sheep…) they where a nice breakfast
That's good to know! Thanks for watching!
What kind of apple trees are these? Will you share your apple crisp recipe please?
Hi! These were primarily liberty apples. Here's the crisp recipe - fromscratchfarmstead.com/apple-crumble-with-oats/
I love your dress! Where did you get it from? I’m always looking for a good mama friendly length dress
Thank you! It’s from Neuflora (my favorite clothing brand). They have so many pieces that work so well for any stage (maternity, nursing, etc). I put a link in the description and a coupon code :)
Azure has amazing chocolate chips. It's the allergy free ones. Best chocolate chips we've ever had
This is good to know! I think I'm going to switch to buying them from there! I didn't love that Costco now switched to using Nestle chocolate chips.
Sad, With the toxins in chocolate 😢
Wow $320 for a few months groceries, thats so amazing, nice work mama! We live in Australia and sadly don't have Azure or really anything similar. I'd say Australia is pretty far behind with organic groceries and it can be a real challenge to source. We grow a lot of veg and take a trip to the big smoke every few months to stock up on bulk organic flours, cheese, dry goods etc but I really wish we had options closer to us. It's worth it though, I'm a firm believer that we'd be spending the money on trying to fix our health issues if we weren't spending it on good quality nourishment!
Yes! That last sentence! Keep it up 🙌
Now are those containers that the Worcestershire sauce is in and apple cider vinegar is in are they BPA in phalate free. It's too bad the Glass isn't utilized more
Hi! They do have glass for many things but when you get some of the bigger quantities they often come in plastic.
As I don’t have azure. I use grape tree in the uk.
That's good to know!! Thanks for watching!
I’d love to know what you do with sardines that your kiddos are willing to eat!
We all love them straight out of the jar :). It may sound strange but they've all had them from time to time since they were babies so it feels like a special treat.
@@FromScratchFarmstead I’ll have to try that and see how it goes, can’t hurt. Lol
I am a member of Sam's club and while I wish it were Costco, the Sam's is so convenient I only pay $25 to my sister in law and I get free shipping right to my home. That saves me so much time
That's awesome! We used to live in a place that just had Sam's too so that's what we did :).
I see you bought peanut butter. I was told I should only buy peanut butter that just contains peanuts and salt but that is a lot more expensive. Most other peanut butters have added oil and sugar. We go through a lot of peanut butter. Your thoughts if it has oil and sugar?
Yes, I avoid the ones with extra oil and sugar too. Costco has been my go to for organic peanut butter with none of the extra ingredients. :)
@@FromScratchFarmstead I wish I had a Costco near me!
And now i'm deciding between the 1lb or 5lb haha.
also, your stove is beautiful!! oh my gosh!!
I've NEVER been able to get the gamma lid rings on that easy lol...I always have to get out the hammer!
Ha! I had to test them out first - the video version was not my first attempt :)
Love your dress! Where did you get it from?
Thank you!! It's from Neuflora! I linked their shop with a coupon code in the description. I love all of the pieces that I have from them!
@@FromScratchFarmstead thank you!
Just a couple notes about Azure:
Freeze any wheat berries for a day to kill any potential weevils before storing. Also, do not buy their canning lids they are very cheap. The jars are great though.
I really liked the superb lids.
Thanks for sharing!
Gud teaching❤
What is tapioca flour made from? Also what is carob powder?
Tapioca flour is made from the cassava plant and carob powder is made from carob tree pods. Thanks for watching! ☺️
Azure chocolate chips are amazing❤️. Yes Nestle has purchased a lot of brands food wise and supplement wise👎🏻👎🏻
@@FromScratchFarmstead thanks so much! If you have time, let us know what you find! Blessings…and thank you and your husband for your channel!
I’m sure you’ve answered this. But I’m wondering how you hung your cast iron pans?

New sub and I ❤ your content
Thank you SO much!
Yep, you gotta keep going back for banana's and avo's lol, it's a universal truth 😅
Ha! Whenever we talk about doing a strictly local diet, those are 2 of our biggest obstacles 🙃.
I no longer buy brown sugar. I keep molasses on hand and make my own.
Great idea!! I think I need to start doing that!
Is the baking soda from Azure come with lab data? Making sure it aluminum free?
Hi there! According to their website it is aluminum free and pure sodium bicarbonate. I'm sure you could email them with more specific questions! Thanks for watching!
What kind of store is azure. I tried looking it up but it says it is a platform for help with Google. I have never heard of it before. But I do live in SC
It's an online distributor. I linked their website below. They have a ton of natural and organic food and products. Thanks for watching!
💛
You may have answered this question from another viewer. Are any of your children picky eaters? If so, how do you handle that?
They aren't picky. I think because they all grew up eating this way, it's just normal for them. Thanks for watching!
Hi how to do with dumping? Thanks
Hi! I'm not sure what you mean? Thanks for watching!
@@FromScratchFarmstead I want know how to do with your everyday garbage? Costco says they are no longer going to have the Kirkland chocolate chips.
Ugh! I wasn't excited about the nestle option. I think I will look into Azure for the future even though they are expensive. Others have said that they are amazing!
My canning lids from Azure were not my favorite. I had many lid failures. I would not reorder lids from Azure. Just my experience though.
Good to know! I've heard this from a few people now so I think we will avoid. Thanks for sharing!
Does your husband work a full time job off of the homestead?
Not anymore. Our online business (blog and yt channel) has been our full time gig since 2022. Thanks for watching!
I buy Eden Foods and do the rest of my shopping at near by farms. There's too much junk in the majority of the stores; even u$d@ organic admits they have $entheti($ in their 'food 😢
So frustrating! Thanks for sharing! I'm so grateful that the majority of our food comes from right here :)
Hello. how are you ..Where are you from I'm from Pakistan Nice Video God bless you all ❤

I have watched three videos tonight. I tried to hit like, but it's not working. So I'm giving you five likes now.
I can't even imagine wasting 40% of my budget of groceries my percentage of waste is point 0001 if that much
It's an eye opening statistic for sure!! Thanks for watching!
I was just looking at Azure vs Costco yesterday! I learned of an Azure drop near me, so thought I might try it. The prices seem quite high though! Is it really worth it?
I find it way worth it for organic wheat berries, organic oats, raw honey, organic beans and organic coconut oil
Plus you get azure dollars back to apply to your next order
It really depends on what you're getting. I find costco cheaper for most items and still the same quality. However, Azure will have things Costco won't...wheat berries, organic corn masa, are 2 I can think of that I get regularly.
For certain things, yes! It took me a long time to finally try Azure after knowing about it for years but we needed to stock up on grains and Azure is definitely the place to get them. Wheat berries, beans, bulk coconut oil, and some baking things. They have some things that Costco doesn't.
Sausages arnt a treat lady omg.
They really are for us, not something we get often at all. Thanks for watching :)
Hey, maybe go down the rabbit hole and realize almond flour and milk isn’t exactly the bill you’ve been sold health wise.
Thanks for watching!
