They were well seasoned. That is the beauty about playing music. If you play sports you reach an age where your body just can't do it any longer. If you play music, you can virtually do it until the end.
There are bands that will never die, Black Sabbath, Dio and Ozzy being 3 of them. These are Grandpa's on the stage in this video, and the audience, comprised of old, middle aged and very young are devoted for life. Hail Dio RIP!
OMG! I love the enthusiasm! Brotha, you dove in HEAD FIRST!!!! LOLOLOL LOVE IT! RONNIE JAMES MUTHFUCKIN' DIO! So cool! I have to admit that the purity of Ozzy and the utter 'WTF is this?' hunger of late 60's/early 70's Sabbath has been my preference but DIO could sing his ass off. You've got a good ear!
Hey RRT, thank you to the stars and back for doing my request!!! I just got home and saw this and your reaction to this made me tear up. I'm not lying, because every time I see and hear Dio I tear up, because like you said the other day that he should still be here. I love his music, I love his demeanor how he interacts with his fans, and just the fact that he was a pretty cool mellow dude with the best metal voice and best metal frontman ever! IMO There is no Ozzy and Dio singing together. I appreciate you RRT, you are the best!! Once again thank you very much for playing this for me. It was dope and so was your reaction! I'm really glad you are liking Dio! I'm smiling from ear to ear! :-) Much peace to you and yours and have a safe weekend!!!
A Ronnie James Dio metal timeline (he had various other non-metal projects from 1957-1967): Electric Elves/Elves/Elf: 1967-1975, released 3 albums as Elf (Elf, Carolina County Ball, Trying To Burn The Sun), often touring with Deep Purple. Broke up after several members joined guitarist Rtichie Blackmore of Deep Purple to form Rainbow Rainbow: 1975-1979, released 3 studio albums with Dio (Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, Rising, Long Live Rock N' Roll, the live album On Stage, and two eventual reissue live albums) before he and Blackmore split, with Rainbow going in a much more commercial direction Black Sabbath: 1979-1982, following Ozzy's dismissal, recorded two studio albums (Heaven And Hell, Mob Rules) and one live album (Live Evil), with Dio leaving after conflict with live album's engineer over the mix levels of the vocals. Sabbath would work their way through multiple singers before Dio would return in 1992 for the one-off reunion album Dehumanizer. Dio: 1982-2006, released eleven studio albums, most of them classics, with an evolving backup band after the first three: Holy Diver, The Last In Line, Sacred Heart, Intermission, Dream Evil, Lock Up The Wolves, Strange Highways, Angry Machines, Magica, Killing The Dragon, and Master Of The Moon. Heaven And Hell: 2006-2010, actually the second reunion with Black Sabbath, only under a new band name, released a live album and one studio album (The Devil You Know), with plans for another album in 2010 before his untimely death from stomach cancer, only a year after being diagnosed.
Metal and rap are two sides of the same disenfanchised coin! Remember late 80's Anthrax & Public Enemy doing a record together? Or Blondie & Fab Five Freddie in the late 70's? Fans of both genre are 'High on Rebellion', as Punk Prietess Patti Smith would say.
My dude! Metal Monday! SO HEAVY! by Psycostick! You will get a kick out these guys! Wtf Wednesday 17 Girls in a Row! By Steel Panther. Friday night live Does Anyone Know What Time It Is! By Chicago
Very Nice, Mr. RRT Black Sabbath was before my time I agree Dio had theatrical presence, a great storyteller, and insane vocal range not to mention the musical talent of band just an awesome experience. I also saw you enjoyed Primus, good day all the way around. Have a Peaceful weekend. Happie
Mr. Ronnie James Dio was a perfect metal front-man. He had the voice, the presence, the look, the songwriting talent, and everything else. You're starting to get it and that is why you like him. Folks debate the first metal band with most agreeing upon Black Sabbath being the biggest influencer....as a band. I would say that Dio was the biggest vocal influence on metal going all the way back to his days in the band, Elf. Yes, Elf. Fun Fact: The original incarnation of Elf was called The Electric Elves and they were a pop band.
I always compared his "look" to something gothic or medieval or mythological. He looked like a metal elf or wizard. That's my humble opinion and no disrespect directed at Dio. RIP, good sir.
And how extraordinary: you know that Tony Iommi the guitarist cut off the tips of the fingers when he was 17. And he can play. He is the father of metal. Seeing him play is like seeing the sun.
1. Fuck yes, no dislikes 2. I hope to God Frank sees this and you guys reunite and go to a Metal Show. 3. Aside from splicing, Ozzy and Ronnie would gave never sung togethet ever. As a matter of fact, they were bitter musical enemies throughout most of their careers. Ozzy extended the Olive branch for the first Ozzfest where both Ronnie and Ozzy with Sabbath Members would play. Dio felt it was a slight to his own career, on the grounds that Dio would have to open up for Ozzy (simce it was the Ozzfest). So that didn't happen. So sad, he should have let his ego slide and unite the fanbase. Sadly when Dio died, he still resented The Ozzman, but Ozzy gave some fine words in respect to Dio when he passed.
You never ever thought of yourself enjoying metal and here you are listening to something you like a Lot which is Dio, I wish people would be more open minded to rock/ metal, because if you found something you enjoy in It, just imagine How many would too
I saw Ronnie James Dio open for Aerosmith at the San Diego sports arena in1983. Steven Tyler was drunk off his ass, Ronnie was an absolute Professional! \m/
Hey Felix. He / Dio took Ozzy's place. I saw Black Sabbath with Dio on the first album that Black Sabbath made without out Ozzy and with Dio. It was killer. Fucking killer. I also saw Ozzy with Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult who opened for them, called the black and blue tour. Then saw Ozzy as a solo artist.. Great shows them all. :-) Shout out to Frank at the store. Know of no vids of Dio and Ozzy. That would be cool though.. Peace man..
From the same concert - check out The Mob Rules You won't see Dio & Ozzy together. Sharon had such tight control over Ozzy back then that if there were an appearance of Ozzy's band and Black Sabbath in an event like, Ozzfest or something similar, she would absolutely forbid it. Conversely, Wendy Dio, Ronnie's wife and manager, was the same way. This is why you have Rob Halford singing with Black Sabbath on tour at one point (he did a great job, though). The fact was that they really didn't know each other because they were separated by their careers. Ozzy on Dio's death: “I first knew about Ronnie Dio’s sickness a few months back and I sent him a message, saying if there’s anything we can do to help, please don’t hesitate to call us. I wasn’t a really big friend of Ronnie Dio. I’ve met him a few times over the years. But he was a great, great singer. It’s a terrible loss. God bless you, Ronnie.” But you probably were never going to see them on stage together.
I have a copy of the only picture that you'll ever see with both Ronnie & Ozzy alone together talking with each other. If there was a way to post it here I would but i don't think you can unfortunately.
I saw him live in Zurich just little time before he died. A crown of just 2 to 3 hundred people at the Volkshaus. He was an old man at that time but his voice was still there and present. I will always remember that evening. I love Dio so much and I feel you do too.
I'd like to suggest you listen to the album Master of Reality. The sound is incredible on this album, great riffs, bass line and lyrics, my favorite of the Ozzy era.
Liked your dialogue, tonight. Especially your story about remembrance of Dio and the guy you worked with. I'll have you know I've bequeathed you my dictionary AND my thesaurus.
Dude, share what you love with US! Hip Hop, soul, and R&B is a safe base since preschool for me but my love had been snuffed out when the bling bullshit of Puffy & 'The Thong Song' of the late 90's, early 2000's hit. My love stays with Nas & Mos Def & Black Star, The Roots, and Tribe Called Quest, Kamaal the Abstract. I stayed Neo Soul. PLEASE resurrect my first love & bring your viewers the hope of some good, new hip hop! You know, that UNDENIABLE shit that gives the chills! You've earned alot of good will with people who love other musical forms; use it!
I think you were looking for the word "expressive" when referring to his gestures. It was the band Rainbow. This was with Black Sabbath when Ozzy went solo. Good reaction video, great tune.
THIS WAS A COUPLE YEARS BEFORE RONNIE DIED. I WAS AT THAT SHOW. YOU WANT TO SEE RONNIE IN HIS PRIME, DO DIO HEAVEN AND HELL LIVE FROM THE SPECTRUM 1984. IT IS EPIC STUFF
Between the Black Sabbath albums Heaven and hell and Mob rules. Kerry Livgren from the group Kansas asked Ronnie James Dio to sing on two tracks of his first solo album call"Seeds of Change" 1980. The two songs Ronnie Sang on "Mask of the great deceiver"/ "To live for the king". Both worth listening to.
Hey RRT, I just came across your video about DIO. I loved watching your expressions while you were listening to it. I agree with you about DIO’s gestures and the bass guitarist. Powerful and outstanding. You asked a question, is there a video of Ozzy and DIO together. Sadly, no there isn’t, but there should’ve been, now that would’ve been iconic. Ronnie in my eyes was the kindest man you could ever meet. I did meet him after one of his shows in Detroit, and he invited me on his tour bus with my man. His generosity, integrity, and empathy for people was amazing. A soul lost to soon but will never be forgotten. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. BTW you’re dope! Janis P.S. Did you ever find Frank.? Would love to hear his take on DIO! I got a question for ya?, have you ever listened to Yngwie Malmsteen with DIO doing Dream On. If you have the chance listen to that one. Outstanding!!!!!!!
Dio was a legit kind guy while he was being treated for his cancer he went super out of his way for a guy in his ward who was a fan showering him with shirts memorabilia etc. RUclips people speaking about him he would have been loved as much if he was a drywall guy dowm the street. Niko mcbrain of maiden is the same way a guy impossible not to like.
One of my favorite Dio/Sabbath songs. This song was originals on the album Heaven and Hell 1980. At the time of this performance Dio had stomach cancer but was diagnosed. This show was released as a dvd, if watch the performance he holds his side throughout the show. As good as he is in this you got to check him out live back in the 70s and 80s when he was in his prime. ruclips.net/video/WcXjSlwvicc/видео.html Don't talk to strangers live.
@@themightyfp by the way! No one on all the Sabbath reaction videos give much credit on how Geezer Butler the Bassist holds it all together and how good he really is! He is one awesome creator of music and he was the main lyrics writer during the Ozzy years.
The very important facts of the song are only: Ronnie James Dio is singing, one of the best vocalists ever. and that he ist 64 years old in this video, and still has this amazing range.
Geezer is one of the best heavy metal bassist there is and Toni Iommy is the God of Riffs with unique sound and musicianship. Vinnia, thou legendary Dio drummer, is the stiffest drummer there is. :oD And Ronnie James Dio - I rest my case. Great song! So them live in Finland ten years ago in Heaven and Hell tour (Ozzy owns the rights to the name Black Sabbath, so they couldn't use that, which sucks.
Do not underestimate your intelligence (YOU DO). Combined with the coolness you know you possess, the intellect makes you what we call an 'alpha' male. Be confident. Don't apologize for it. Be yourself!
I’m just waiting for the day somebody does the reaction to Guns and Roses “Civil War”. It’s a song I still listen to every 3 months and still play on guitar once a month. While being one of G’n’R best songs, I really don’t know how many people know it. However, it is one of the best rock songs.
No such thing as a Bad DIO Song... DIO'S SILENCE IS ETERNALLY DEAFENING....... \m/ DIO Is Far To Honorable amd Honest Through His Music As He Always Pours Out Baring His Soul for All Of Us... Pouring Out in Every Note and Nuance..... He Made the World a Better Place For Just Having Been....
I have a very interesting song I`d like you to react to, it goes back to my childhood in the early 70`s and it features Dio with Deep purple/ Rainbow Bass player Roger Glover. Roger Glover & Ronnie Dio - Love Is All
Hey man, been looking as some of your music reaction and really like the fact that you are look at all different types and music. You said something about history the other day and learning shit so wanted to drop you a podcast called "Dan Carlin's Hardcore History". This is by far the best way to learn shit about history, give it a try man and let me know how you make out. Keep on keep'en on, later.
Dio hits you because he was a pure spirit and it comes out in his music regardless of his supporting members. Saw him '83. Except I'm like 5' tall he short as hell too so didn't see shit. Sounded great though of course
"They say that it's over" But Sabbath was far from over. Maybe you could play Country Girl..Dio/Sabbath...sometime. Still enjoying the channel. Take care.
and he performs like this knowing he had stomach cancer as well ( RIP RONNIE WE LOVE YOU)
I was told by some guys that worked for them , that he also had the flu when he did these performances.
Ronnie James DIO has Sang Through The Worst Illnesses and Horrible Situations..... He Is Always Positive and ALWAYS Shares His Soul with All of Us...
BLACK SABBATH - falling off the edge of the world
Black Sabbath w/Dio, the album Heaven and Hell is a classic. 👍
Absolutely right, so many awesome songs but think my fave is Die Young
You should listen to Straight through the heart from the album rainbow in the dark.
it is crazy that him and the band in general as old men were still so good.
They were well seasoned. That is the beauty about playing music. If you play sports you reach an age where your body just can't do it any longer.
If you play music, you can virtually do it until the end.
Dio was one of the greatest front men and singer's of all time. His voice is amazing and inspiring
That bass player is the one and only Geezer Butler. One of the more underrated bassists.
love terence
There are bands that will never die, Black Sabbath, Dio and Ozzy being 3 of them. These are Grandpa's on the stage in this video, and the audience, comprised of old, middle aged and very young are devoted for life. Hail Dio RIP!
Geezer Butler is master of the bass line
I'm crying now, I'm 55 years old, but watching and listening to Ronnie makes me happy but so sad for losing him. RIP Ronnie.
Welcome to the magic that is DIO with Sabbath. EPIC
Dio's gestures are so accurate to what's coming out of his mouth because he's Italian. I can say that cuz I'm Sicilian.

Sign of the southern cross
Geezer Butler is one of the greatest bassist in rock. He play a huge part in the Sabbath sound. And his a great lyricist too.
He was jazz influenced .
Like bill .
You've gotta listen to the studio version of this brother....
I agree!
Dio era Rainbow was awsome. Gates of Babylon. Nobody else has reacted to that song.
Dude. I've been saying the same. I don't know why either. That was Rainbow's greatest song.
Vin and Sori just did a reaction video to that one, imo Rainbow's most epic song ever, but they didn't seem massively impressed....
Dio era of every band he stumbled into was an awesome time for the band. That goes for each band that featured him.
Dio "don't talk to strangers" live is amazing. Great voice. Great song.

"Mistreated" by Rainbow from the live "on stage" album i higly recommend!
I would love to hear more of your memories of Frank.
Do not underestimate your intelligence (YOU DO). Combined with the coolness you know you possess, the intellect makes you what we call an 'alpha' male. Be confident. Don't apologize for it. Be yourself!
Dope
I’m just waiting for the day somebody does the reaction to Guns and Roses “Civil War”. It’s a song I still listen to every 3 months and still play on guitar once a month. While being one of G’n’R best songs, I really don’t know how many people know it. However, it is one of the best rock songs.
No such thing as a Bad DIO Song...
DIO'S SILENCE IS ETERNALLY DEAFENING....... \m/
DIO Is Far To Honorable amd Honest Through His Music As He Always Pours Out Baring His Soul for All Of Us...
Have you ever done War Pigs....Black Sabbath Live in Paris! I think you would love it and laugh your ass off too!
Grsat show.....and forever digital! RIP RJD
Dio hits you because he was a pure spirit and it comes out in his music regardless of his supporting members. Saw him '83. Except I'm like 5' tall he short as hell too so didn't see shit. Sounded great though of course
Dude, you’re a lot smarter than you give your self credit for. Good review.
John Gialluca appreciate the kind words peace ✌️ 😃
Yes there is a duet with ozzy & Too war pigs look it up back in the Day of Black Sabbath look it up
Dio was literally dying of cancer here and still kicking ass to the very end.
Check out the guitar players prosthetic finger tips on his right hand. Industrial accident with a machine press on his last day of working a day job.
geezer is something else
"They say that it's over" But Sabbath was far from over. Maybe you could play Country Girl..Dio/Sabbath...sometime. Still enjoying the channel. Take care.
I'm peace but are you peace?
"This is for the live series everyone! But really it's Dio though"
Riccardo Raccis ? No this Black Sabbath or Heaven andHell as they chose to call themselves.
Sure it is Sabbath, but the Dio iteration and the fact is RRT is a newly minted Dio fan, which warms my heart really.
