Guys, another great job. I think you might be missing the small brackets (P/N 611895), that are supposed to be attached to each side of the windscreen frame. The metal loops on the front of the side soft top retainers hook onto them. See Fig 31 Pg 5.218 of the TR4 Workshop Manual. Also, you might find Pg 5.216 thru 5.218 of the TR4 WS to be a great help in getting the soft top on and off.
I left my old cap on my TR6 when it was repainted but when I put the new cap on I had some similar issues. I think I’ll drill out those rivets and give your solution a try.
Great job with the riveting and fitting but Merlin is correct. You need those little brackets or the part of the top just below the top of the window on each side won't be tight enough. They need to be connected to the window frame about an inch below your metal cap. I can send you a photo if that will help. Keep up the good work...
Actually, yes some photos will help! We may have an issue here as I think ours are broken on the windscreen frame. More creativity needed, but it would be nice to know how it should look. If you have some, send to wegsgarage@gmail.com

You have a tendency to say "up under"
Where in the South are you? 🤣
South Dakota. It's south of something I suppose 😂
Right up under North Dakota?
