    Commuting! Don't miss it, and I had it easy getting to BOS. As it was all done when we had positive space available. I couldn't imagine it now.... thanks for sharing the sage 😌 advice. Great content as always ❤

    I thought I had it bad commuting from HNL but some of my basemates commute from Asia!?! It’s definitely a pt job. Thanks for such an informative vlog for those who need it. 🥴

    This commute video reminds me of a story of working as a reserve FA. A couple of winters ago I was home in Montana and was on reserve in 2 days; reserve starts at mid night. Had a snow storm and whiteout conditions, my airport was closed down. So there goes plan A and B. So I ended up taking a train over night to Seattle. Snow on the tracks created delays. Finally got to my crash pad at 8:30pm. Went right to bed. I didn't get called during my reserve days at all. Not always fun, but got it done.

    Good video! but I work for the same airline and the employee parking at my home airport is $1800/year! I don't think the company pays your parking unless it's at a base.

      They pay for mine and it’s not at a base.🤷🏾‍♀️Thanks for watching!✨🩷

      @@CharliEdwards Your home airport could just have free employee parking!

      @jomr4249 it doesn’t. I emailed the company and they started to pay for it.

      Are you a flight attendant?

      @@CharliEdwards Hmm I’ll definitely check that out but most of the commuters I’ve talked to over the years have had to pay for their own. If that’s true that’s a great under the radar benefit that a lot don’t know about. Most of the people commuting from my home airport park at hotels or offsite parking because our employee parking is so expensive.

    What is your company’s commuter policy? been looking for this info everywhere. Just wondering what’s in place to protect FAs in worse case scenario.

    As a fellow Alabama resident, I would need to commute out of the Huntsville airport that mainly flies Regional planes. Does that mean you couldn't do the jump seat if you work mainline, since I wouldn't know the plane, and can you jump seat other airlines? Do you know if Huntsville is easy to commute from? I wasn't sure which airport you use. Thank you for all the great commuting tips!!

    Do the airline ever call the day of and expect you to be at the airport within a couple of hours?

      If you are on reserve. I’m personally not on reserve anymore so no not in my case.

    Heyy this has been my dream job for a few years now. I’m 19 and still trying to figure out how to get into this career. Would it be best to go to college for tourism or do air force then apply??? Trying to figure out what would hire my chances !! :)

    • @CharliEdwards
      @CharliEdwards  5 месяцев назад +3

      Honestly, I would do neither one of those options. If you don’t wanna go to college don’t go. And I definitely wouldn’t join the military just to become a flight attendant.

      Dont join AF. If you want to go to college to have a back up degree, go for it (try to pick a program that won't be taken by AI in a few years).
      Many airlines are available right now . If this is your dream career, go for it.
      Make sure your resume is up to date and apply.
