A while back you mentioned working on phrasing using only 1-3. That was a game-changer for me. Stuck with it for a couple months and now the bends on 1-3 are automatic. Removing options forced me to figure out how to make the most of what’s available. Keeping my teeth close together when bending also greatly improved intonation. Priceless gems being given away here.
Strange that closing your teeth helped on the low notes when making the mouth cavity larger is what bends the notes on low notes. Now on high notes like on my Wilde tuned harps, yeah making the cavity smaller is what bends the notes.
Walter's Boogie is great practice for those 2 & 3 draw bends, because you got to be real quick and real accurate, plus it's fun to do.....er, at 1/2 speed for me right now.
Ronnie one more question for you; when you play your unbent notes is your tongue resting on the floor of your mouth or just kinda floating behind the teeth? Curious how you do it.
Very slowly is how I always practice bends. Great advice. The issue I’m having isn’t bending so much ( I already work in trying to do what you do here), but it is playing phrases smooth. Like if I’m playing a lick that is 6B, 5D, 4D, 4D-, 3D, 3D-,2B, 1D, 2D it sounds choppy and there is noticeable space between the notes rather than flowing together. Advice?
Steadying the breath is KEY for fluidity. Pay attention to how you are breathing through the lick. I love this topic and it's easier for me to explain in a video. Look for an incoming YT video on this topic SOON!

resting on the bottom of the mouth. also, focus on an open mouth and throat to maximize big tone!
