I LOVE THIS KNOT ALONG WITH THE ALBERTO KNOT IN SOME CASES BECAUSE IT IS A VERY SMALL KNOT THAT WILL GO UP INTO MY REEL AND BE CASTABLE, WHICH ALLOWS ME TO USE LEADERS LONGER THAN MY ROD...
So, what I am getting from this, is that I will just stick with my trusty double uni. haha. Not once have I ever had a breakoff and just as easy, if not easier to tie. Thank you for sharing.
Nice simple tutorial ! I just attempted it snd got it the first time! Thank you from Boston! Stripers are on their way!! Have a great season! Andrew Carlson
It's a good knot for braid to mono or single strand wire to mono. Other sources have suggested using many more wraps for braid. That makes a very long knot that can hamper line coming off a spinner well. I'll try it with 12 wraps & see how I do. Thanks for that detail.
The only leader knot I use. I can tie it right every time and it goes through my baitcasters and micro-guides easily. I suppose if I was using heavier line like you salt fisherman do, I’d learn the FG knot. For bass fishing the Albright knot has never let me down. Not once.
If you're using a stronger mono than the braid, then I highly recommend the FG knot over this Albright knot because it's thinner and has tested to be 30% stronger too. Here's a post showing how to tie it: www.saltstrong.com/articles/how-to-tie-the-fg-knot/
Been using the Albright for years and have never had one break. I'm going to try the improved Albright next time I change leaders because I've heard say they are easier to tie. Good fishing everyone!
I recommend trying the FG knot after performing this strength test of the Improved Albright, Crazy Alberto, and the Fg Knot: www.saltstrong.com/articles/albright-vs-alberto-vs-fg-knot/
thanks so much, got me and my papaw frustrated earlier as this is my first experience with braid and we gave up and i just used straight braid,i found another video on this knot but it was telling the info wrong and everytime i cut the tags, it broke. But this did not and got me proud to do it
Lost a BIG red fish along with 3 1/2 ft of floro leader this morning thanks to me tying this knot. Not mad at you or the knot. But definitely not going to use this one again.
West coast here- we always attach a much lighter leader line to our braid and this knot and the FG are for the opposite- what’s the best knot for 10, 20 or 30lb braid to oh let’s say 10lb fluorocarbon?
So when I tried this, my fluoro pulls through the slippery braid. I think if you put a small overhand knot as an anchor to keep it from slipping through it would work better. I think I'll just use my ol trustable double Uni. Thanks for the Video, none the less!
Great knot well explained, i use this knot slightly different, mine tests 60 to 70%. The only 100% knot is the pr knot, despite what some you tubers say. Thanks
Hi I'm new to fishing so this might sound stupid to others.... I connect my line to the leader by swivel. So if I do this knot does it mean I don't need to use a swivel?
Thanks for your question! Make sure to ask this over on the actual blog or in the Community (www.saltstrong.com/) where the coaches spend their time. The blog can be found here: www.saltstrong.com/articles/albright-vs-alberto-vs-fg-knot
I think the FG knot is still stronger. However the Albright knot is easy, and not a bad knot. Another easy knot for braid to leader is the Alberto knot. I think the Alberto is stronger than the Albright, but easier than the FG.
You're correct... here's a test I did on those 3 knots to see how their breaking strengths compare to one another in case interested in the details: www.saltstrong.com/articles/albright-vs-alberto-vs-fg-knot/
Yes, the Crazy Alberto is a solid knot. I agree that it's better than the double uni for braid to mono/fluoro connections. One big reason the Uni is so popular is because it can be used for all types of lines where the Alberto is specifically for braid to mono/fluoro. Note: The FG knot is the one that has outperformed them all for braid to mono/fluoro, so be sure to check that one out if you haven't already done so. Here's a link to a knot contest where the FG proved to be 30+ % stronger than the Alberto knot while being 50% thinner. www.saltstrong.com/articles/albright-vs-alberto-vs-fg-knot/
A somewhat belated comment, although I've just visited (again) your knot strength website - specifically to check this result, as for braid to fluoro. Though FG still the king in your head to head tests, something did strike me as interesting, and I wonder if you could include the following two knots (still braid to fluoro) in a head to head (as they show similar stats relative to the FG) : Doubled-Over Double Uni Knot vs Crazy Alberto Knot. Though I'm practising the FG, untl I can confidently tie it properly, I (and I'm sure many others) would still want to use another (2nd best) option, which would, according to your tests, then be one of these 2 mentioned knots. Thanks for all your effort in showing knots - knot anatomy has become very interesting !! PS In my case, my fluoro is stronger than my braid).

I like to go as light as possible on my mainline to increase casting distance and decrease water drag. Here's a test on casting distance in case you haven't yet seen it: www.saltstrong.com/articles/casting-distance-experiment-10-vs-20-braid/
No matter how many times you pull on all 4 lines the knot will not slide so pull individual pairs to tighten the knot, trim ends pull on finished item and it just slides apart under tension so impossible does not work don't trust it
Because the FG knot has tested to be over 30% stronger than the Alberto knot which proved to be stronger than this Albright knot. Here's a link to the test details: www.saltstrong.com/articles/albright-vs-alberto-vs-fg-knot/
@@Nathan-lt6bw Yes, the Albright is definitely quicker to tie. However, the FG just takes a minute after some practice assuming the tension method is being used. But with a properly set drag, the Albright knot will work just fine (the FG will just provide an added benefit when in need to stopping a fish from getting into structure or when in need of powering out of an underwater snag since it has a higher breaking strength).
Mate I have been using this for a very long time. This not and had no issues. Now it keeps slipping on Braid 10lb and 8lb fluorocarbon. Any advice as of want to keep using this knot. Is there anything i can do to stop it slipping
The FG knot won this contest against the Albright and Crazy Alberto knots... here's a link for the details: www.saltstrong.com/articles/albright-vs-alberto-vs-fg-knot/
Try the modified Albright just as easy to tie and improves strength. I also break at or near the lure and or in between on snags. The knot never breaks.
+GabooNx Yes, the modified Albright is a bit stronger than the traditional abright knot (I used it in some prior knot tests). However, it is 30% weaker than the FG knot when connecting 10 lb PowerPro braid to a fluorocarbon leader. Be sure to give the FG knot a try if you have not already done so (www.saltstrong.com/articles/fg-knot/)... it's the strongest braid to fluoro knot I've tested while also being the slimmest of the all.
If you're going for strength and/or small size of a braid to leader knot, then I highly recommend the FG knot... here's a test of it against the Albright and Alberto: www.saltstrong.com/articles/albright-vs-alberto-vs-fg-knot/

The Albright is noticeably smaller in size but I still use the double uni just because it’s so easy to tie while I am wading.
This is a simple knot, just practice a few tjmes.
Can't do uni to uni with 80bls floro😊

It took me like three tries, but it worked! Thanks
