It’s funny that you underestimate how much we’d love to hear anybody blabblering about anything related to New Vegas for hours on end, so don’t be shy with the little details 😂
of course of course, I just want to also make the video paced somewhat well. Plenty of videos to continue to go into detail with such a deep world like the one established in New Vegas
It aint nothin to be ashamed of as there many *many* places we wish to live in these games take Borderlands 2 Wham Bam Island DLC for example place seems nice for a getaway
3:15 I see two possible explanations here. One - the "Suite X" label was assigned by the *current* residents, in which case the abandoned building would not be counted as a suite and skipped over, given that it's boarded off and most likely unsuitable for repair. Perhaps Suite 100 was initially thought to be suitable for habitation, but since has become uninhabited. The other explanation is that the "Suite X" label is a pre-war holdover, in which case the abandoned building may be an administrative office.
I love aerotech park because it displays most of the negatives of the NCR on a small scale, too many people not enough resources or soldiers to keep real order. The one officer in charge of the park will abuse his power and execute Keith because he insulted him when arresting him. The only real protection in the park is from raiders and animals but there’s still a chance you get sold into slavery or fall to addiction
15:32 one thing about freeside is that in the FNV comic that came with preorder bonuses, freeside’s streets are FULL, there’s a possibility that there was a funneling trying to enter or exit the Strip. Meaning that the buildings in Freeside are possibly taken up in the lore. On top of that in the comic, the Strip streets are about half as full as in game, lore wise the streets are inverted, Freeside is full of poor people who lost most of their caps and are abandoned in Vegas, and the Strip is full of those living their few good days before going back to the wasteland.
Well explained! Freeside definitely is missing that overpopulated slums angle that even the followers like Julie Farkas seem to suggest. It's almost jarringly vacant with more faction members like the Kings populating the place.
Gameplay and story slash lore segregation, the comic is how it should be. Generally No game can have the populations they should, engine limitation. Maybe sim city games are fairly realistic on that front
I kind of wish that Vegas was more urban in the game outside of South Vegas. The Brutalist and Art Deco architecture of major US cities in Fallout looks and feels great, and it's a shame that in Vegas outside of the Strip there is only really Downtown areas and Suburbs. Sure the map is really downscaled from the IRL Mojave and you can't fit a big city, but more urban architecture like we see in Fiend territory or Fallout 3's DC could be fit straight east of McCarran and the Sharecropper farms (where in the game there are suburbs) because in real life the airport is surrounded by high-rise buildings and such on all sides, maybe add some urban architecture east of the Repconn HQ to represent the remains of the city of Henderson, maybe a bit around Westside and North Vegas and so on.
Completely agree, I would imagine the Urban potential was crushed by the limited console hardware and short dev time. I would love to see New Vegas properly reimagined with a dense urban setting like we get with Fallout 3 and (especially) 4.
I think any debate could be silenced by just the pure fact that pretty much any of these places are preferable to almost every livable place in Fallout 3. Like Rivet City maybe, but holy fuck the East Coast got its shit WRECKED.
Yea I’m looking forward to checking it out. So many Fallout 3 settlements are hellish. Nukes in the city center, living in an irradiated river, and like stm said, jagged rusted metal everywhere.
I wish The Strip had residential areas because it’d be so interesting to see what people’s lives would be like, their attitudes towards their neighbours in Freeside, Westside, North Vegas, etc. How people living there would react to the events that happen in Nevada and inside The Strip.
Me personally boss, I think westside or outer freeside is the best choice for you, Westside have a militia and outside of the human traffickers its not too bad, a pawn shop and had a garden last I was there. Outer Freeside has the followers of the apocolypse and the silver rush/atomic wrangler. Inner freeside has the general populace of the kings and what not. Just my two cents boss
The King might be a warlord but he's reasonably benevolent and he keeps the place stable and trims at least the worst of the corruption. As long as he remains in control of the kings, things will likely be better than anywhere else in vegas in freeside, but once he dies, or is overthrown, or if his men shatter things will get really bad really fast as they often do in crumbling warlord states
That’s a good point for the potential future I missed. He will leave a power vacuum on his wake and with people like Pacer there to fill it, you could have a war with the Van Graffs on a heart beat and chaos all about.
Love the videos bro well done thank you for making these - Maybe a quick video on which NCR camp would be the best to be stationed at? Just an idea. Keep up the good work bro
Camp Gulf's not a bad choice at all, especially with the ample water nearby, BUT, go check out New Vegas's map. You're one Legion swim away from turning into Nipton... Could end badly. Ranger station Foxtrot up in the mountains could be a good spot
I think a fun one to do would be which faction would be best to live under, besides the obvious 4 sides in the war you could also theorize on a brotherhood way of life, or a raider way of life with the khans or the powdergangers
Another thing on the cap check is that we might own 2000 caps, but not in cash. Most of it would be bound in property. We might have a house or a farm, we might have weapons and armor, we might have food. That is all part of our property, but the strip security only checks for cash.
Strip security only checks for caps, and the question is relevant to what you have on you when you’re plopped in New Vegas. You could earn your way up to it, though that would likely just be a waste.
I have a thought about why there is suite 250 in the office park. Perhaps it was built later. So they first had 100, then added 200, then added 300, then added 400. But when they built another building, which was placed between 200 and 300 (because there was room) they decided to put the number between 200 and 300 as well. Or perhaps there was a bigger building 200 before, but at some point it was demolished and two smaller buildings took it's place. Same explanation for 200 and 250, even if 200 and 200a would've worked just as well.
I’ve been a couple times and seen the homeless travel through the dried out canal system with shopping carts of belongings and all that. There are places that are definitely dystopian already.
Westside no question. I think Dermot and St James never bothered kidnapping people from Westside because they were terrified of the militia. They had far easier pickings at Aerotek. I also wouldn't be surprised if eventually Westside started trading food for medical care with the Followers.
Yea Westside already has connections with the Followers through the Co-op and Tom Anderson. I'd also imagine its easier to make refugees disappear. People go missing in Westside, someones gonna notice quick and look for the problem.
I would like to see versions of these in Fallout 3 and 4, but I would love see a video on the economies each each town and/or city in new vegas. Which make the most money in caps. Or what has the most diverse economies, what are their exports, wealth in/equality etc etc. And then maybe a economy tierlist. Though I understand that is likely a whole lot of homework. Still good video my dude!
@nvRanger I mean that's fair. But he hasn't done on exactly this so I think you have room to get a video in on it before he might. You also don't necessarily have to get as "hard figures" about it as he might and you can keep it to more of the abstract idea angle like you did with these. Hell you might even try to collab if you wanted to shoot for the moon. But anyway I understand you're concern and I'll leave your channel to you. With these videos you have earned my sub and I can't wait to see what's next regardless.
21:29, That seems like one of the best options in the wasteland. With no AC or any other way to stay cool spending most of the day out of the sun and near water sounds like a good option. Not to mention its unlikely there is that much waste left after 200+ years of decay. might even be a good way to make money if you can find mushrooms as they can be a good food source.
LFG baby. Always been a Westside gal. Enjoy that town every time, especially since you can clean up it's one major glaring issues with extreme prejudice. I'd have considered Freeside as one neighborhood and added Aerotech to a larger neighborhood: East Vegas. Many populated houses by NCR folk, Caravan folk, Runners, Vegas citizens and presumably some Followers as well. Plenty of extra room. Close to Clinic, Caravan, Runners, Croppers, Vegas itself, Grab N Gulp, etc. your pick of where and how ya work. Lot of traffic through the area but pretty sparse on threats. NCR has a strong but not dominant presence and most of the threats would be Fiends coming out of the sewers(hell of a commute). While that's a fairly big issue security wise, people still occupy the area and seem to have a handle on it. No walls, but NCR hold positions around the area and that's a solid substitute. Various business provide for food, water, and other goods so as long as you can find work(plentiful with some of the best variety you can ask for) you should be set on goods. It's such a bizarre, often overlooked area that often gets parsed out into other factions but I enjoy looking at it as a whole And lest we forget: East Vegas is one of perhaps only two heavily populated areas of the Mojave with an institutional response to folks who lose their way. The followers provide this for Freeside but the aforementioned Aerotech park is a key feature if we look at East Vegas as a whole. A lot of travelers and refugees end up in the area but have a place to go with leadership, medical care etc. they're also defended within the park. This is a pretty significant boon for the quality of life in East Vegas as the most prominent "to and from" area of Vegas. Another one of those areas I just always have to stop and wander through when I come across it. It's almost peaceful! Excellent video, hoping to see a factions living ranking in the future. These are endlessly fun!
That's a great case for east vegas and if that were the consideration it likely would compete heavily with Westside for S tier. Oddly enough it seems like that was originally intended to be an identified section of the map, but the only reference I can find is Mrs. Hostetler referring to her neighborhood as such and that it was noted on an early rendition of the map. It's hard to tie that general area into one location and know where its exact cut off points, especially given how the other neighborhoods are consistently organized. Nonetheless, definitely worth considering as I missed a big neighborhood there. I agree it is a very interesting part of the map. Close to downtown, but suddenly rural.
@nvRanger glad you enjoyed the perspective! Hope you'll still consider giving the various factions the same treatment. Looking forward to whatever ya come out with, very fun videos!
I usually live at the atomic wrangler, has most of what I need Alcohol, bed, gambling. Anything else isn't too far away, the Strip, Gun runners, Mick & Ralph's, Dixon and the fort are just a short walk away.
@nvRanger that's what the people at the fort are there for. Ironically I almost never use jet, mostly psycho and med-x. Also having high endurance helps a bit with all the chems and whiskey
Gotta see a video on best potential settlements soon! Like if you were a group that had to start from scratch. What area of the Mojave would you try to settle in? What areas have the best resources/ defenses? So much potential but only one nvRanger.
So take a look at the currently unused locations that could be made into settlements? Love the idea, I have something approximating that on my idea list, appreciate the suggestion. But alas, yes just one of me. Many wastelands and worlds to survey and inspect.
I use Camp mod and Raiders mod, i camp right in the heart of south vegas ruins. Every day, i would hunt a bunch of Fiends with switchblade, knives, tire iron, mines, grenades, etc. It was the best neighborhood for me after Goodspring and Westside.
Yes! I'm really happy I have a wasteland realtor. I am loving these videos. I know you're the @nvRanger , but can you please do one on the capital wasteland? I play these games and often wonder where I could/would live. Great content. Very cathartic. Thanks wanderer.
Thank you as well! Definitely headed to the other wastelands, I’m not sure of the exact timeline though, don’t want to mislead. Could be next but idk yet.
it is strange that you don't have realised yet that being a mole person in a desert is a completely valid option : There is a LOT of souterrain cities in history, especially in deserts. Hot in the surface, cool underneath (as my mom)
I have considered that. Safety is a huge plus. Both have horrible living conditions. North Vegas was put over for potential but Aerotech does seem safer. You do have pretty close/safe routes to the med clinic and crimson caravan in North Vegas though.
It's a good plan, only concern I would have is the potential strings attatched for working for a family like that. Try and leave too soon or join another group in Freeside and they could see you as a threat looking to sell info gathered from your time with them. Definitely not bad to get some black combat armor and an energy weapon though
Westside also has the Thorn in terms of defense, granted it'd be a last resort, but I doubt many Fiends or raiders would be keen on attacking a place that would send Cazadores, Nightstalkers, Rad Scorpions, or even a Deathclaw out if the community is desperate enough, it'd be like picking a fight with someone welding a fatman indoors, yeah they're just as likely, if not moreso to kill themselves, but do you want to be there when they use it? Also, bringing it back to Jacobstown, with Mean Sonofabitch showing they'll at least tolerate Super Mutants, West Side and Jacobstown could make a trade deal, since they're not too far apart, especially if Jacobstown expanded their borders like I suggested in the comments for the best towns video
Would be cool to see a coalition of Jacobstown and Westside, and yea they could just barricade their walls and release the beasts in a code red type situation. Could cause enough chaos to retreat and regroup. Could also backfire like you said
yea its a wonder the Khans don't try and take over the Spring Mt. State park, ranch the bighorners, and start a farm on the seemingly fertile land with a water source.
@@nvRanger yes they definitely should. But I think the khans are weakend since bitter springs and part of the deal they have with the NCR demands they stay in red rock. Besides I'm not sure if they have the manpower to take on the vipers or jackals
To add a little political analysis to this West side having a farmers co-op and very community oriented populace As well as the followers of the apocalypse being canonically anarchist/socialist Opting to provide free medical care and attempting to educate who they can There is a distinctly leftist philosophy in the forming of these communities In regards to the distribution of goods and services and protection without completely disregarding and neglecting the addicts, homeless and impoverished. It’s makes sense that those areas tend to have better prospects for locals
Fair, I think anywhere the followers go is a major plus to the situation. They help west side become self sufficient, they help Freeside stay afloat, and the run the medical clinic. Appreciate the contribution.
realistically the safest option in this area would be to get employed by crimson caravan (probably to shovel brahmin shit), they provide you with food, shelter, protection and reliable income
@nvRanger i think you might be surprised iirc their employees have contracts if you want more details look into the quest with the girl working there that can move to boomers you can talk to McLafferty to help with her contract
They're fictional mutant animals in a world where they actively compete with humans. I don't think its anywhere near commensurate with a modern comparison. Preying on people in a world where wealth disparity is as skewed as it is in Fallout with slot machines is pretty dystopian. Especially when many of those people end up in dangerous slums and refugee camps where children are kidnapped and trafficked. It's not that wild of a take.
Thanks for watching! Curious what neighborhood you would go with?

lol yea you gotta do some healthy jogs to maintain that chem a nd booze endurance
Very entertaining! I'd love to see these kinds of videos for Fallout 3 or even Fallout 4.
Thanks! For sure in the plans
Caught your town video, both were good.
Keep up the hard work!
Will do 🫡 thank you
Came here to ask what more you were using and I see you already linked them! Much thanks
believe me, you're not a lone. Very welcome!
😅alright Rambo. It’s S tier
@@nvRanger "They drew first blood! Not me!" (Local Courier, 2281).
Oh perfect, I just watched the towns last night! Towns I would still choose Goodsprings. Neighborhoods, definitely Westside!
Both solid choices. Goodsprings got the coziest setup. Good living
W westside! i do love the followers though, staying with them would be awesome
Yea they make Outer Freeside legitimately competitive. Westside too cool tho
Could be next but idk yet.
half hour long nvranger video lets gooooo
🙏
i wouldn't mind the sharecropper farms lol
Not a bad choice if the NCR lets you
i agree
i glad
And here it is!
was on the grind since the last one
@@nvRanger well made man, these sorts of homegrown headcanon Fallout 3/NV Videos are such a nice little niche of the Internet
Glad you like em’! thanks
Freeside ftw 🙌
Gang gang
it is strange that you don't have realised yet that being a mole person in a desert is a completely valid option :
There is a LOT of souterrain cities in history, especially in deserts. Hot in the surface, cool underneath (as my mom)
All those caves are filled with various types of scary creatures that would kill you quickly.
0:50 My Coil Blunderbuss :O
I was wondering which pack that was from, I have too much going on😅 sick gun btw
Personally I would simply walk to Boston and live in the upper stands neighborhood in diamond city
We’ll get to Fallout 4
You have to pay a lot of caps to get up there.... but I'm not sure how many
Lmao why? Diamond City is a shithole worse than any of the places on this list.
I've seen him in my comments before. He doesn't like NV and just seems to be trolling
Don't know, aerotech is probably One of the safest Place, and for that It should be higher, maybe swatching it with North Vegas. For the rest, i agree
I have considered that. Safety is a huge plus. Both have horrible living conditions. North Vegas was put over for potential but Aerotech does seem safer.
You do have pretty close/safe routes to the med clinic and crimson caravan in North Vegas though.
@@nvRanger yes, it's an hard battle between shitholes 😂
lol yea that's just about the whole video
Wherever I live, first thing Im doing is getting a job at the Silver Rush. 200 Caps a day for guarding the door and being polite? Sign me up
It's a good plan, only concern I would have is the potential strings attatched for working for a family like that. Try and leave too soon or join another group in Freeside and they could see you as a threat looking to sell info gathered from your time with them.
Definitely not bad to get some black combat armor and an energy weapon though
Propably 250 was administaration building
Yea someone else mentioned the same. I think that’s the best bet
It's never stated that caps had to be from nuka cola or sunset sarsaparilla.
Fair but those are the only ones seemingly available in game.
Safe House/player home tier list?
I like the idea, it's already on my idea list 👍
From second zero the one with the pawn shop is the best
that's Westside
@ yeah I thought so
I very much enjoyed this video
I very much appreciate you saying!
I always felt there was an opportunity for mods in these empty buildings
Absolutely, New Vegas could use some urban expansion.
Could you do a video about the GDP of every town and street?
maybe, but that sounds like Any Austin territory
What graphics mods do you use?
all of them. Main ones are new vegas reloaded, desert natural weathers and neutral weathers
Could also backfire like you said
@@nvRanger like I said, last resort only, and probably wouldn't need to if they made a deal with Jacobstown
as long as the NCR keep them contained or even wins the war, the Fiends are occupied enough where the Militia can handle them as well.
Great work amigo
Appreciated 🙏
@nvRanger You're making me want to finish my FO4 military lore videos.
get on that hustle brother, onwards and upwards!
Good vid
Thank you 🙏
Roads out of the commonwealth video when?
Not sure about that specifically but definitely headed the commonwealth soon
Red Rock canyon, putting aside that there is no water or food there
yea its a wonder the Khans don't try and take over the Spring Mt.
Good point, probably just trying to stop the bleeding for now
you gonna do this for fallout 3 or 4?
for sure, its not next, but its in the pipeline
hell yeah, another sequel
🙏
Can you do this for fallout 4 amazing video man
Absolutely in the plans, thank you!
which enb?
None, New Vegas Reloaded, desert natural weathers, neutral weathers, and more at work. Mod list has a lighting section
This video will have 500k views one day bro just watch...
I hope you’re right🤞
18:02 I’d be offering my services as a cook to the Garrett twins and look to get by that way
That's a solid plan, drunks looking to fill their bellies is definitely a method they could profit from.
modlist video 🙏
modlist is in description, don't plan on doing modding content anytime soon
darnit. Regardless, great work on your videos!
@ appreciated
To add a little political analysis to this
West side having a farmers co-op and very community oriented populace
As well as the followers of the apocalypse being canonically anarchist/socialist
Opting to provide free medical care and attempting to educate who they can
There is a distinctly leftist philosophy in the forming of these communities
In regards to the distribution of goods and services and protection without completely disregarding and neglecting the addicts, homeless and impoverished.
It’s makes sense that those areas tend to have better prospects for locals
Fair, I think anywhere the followers go is a major plus to the situation. They help west side become self sufficient, they help Freeside stay afloat, and the run the medical clinic. Appreciate the contribution.
Westside gang 🤙
Stand up!
realistically the safest option in this area would be to get employed by crimson caravan (probably to shovel brahmin shit), they provide you with food, shelter, protection and reliable income
That would be an excellent plan. As long as they have room or need for you and don’t cut you loose randomly. Not a lot of employee rights I’d assume 😅
@nvRanger i think you might be surprised iirc their employees have contracts if you want more details look into the quest with the girl working there that can move to boomers you can talk to McLafferty to help with her contract
Hours long videos are fun though..
Lol😅😆🙃
noted, I might not go for hours but maybe I won't aim to keep things tight
@nvRanger 👍😁🫡💯🌞
Sweet!
@nvRanger Nice!
HE PUT HIS WHAT IN THE CHEMS?
WHO PUT THEIR CHEMS WHERE?! IDK
Other than the human trafficking, I think Westside is your best bet.
agreed, that and Fiends. Believe Miguel's grandfather was killed by them, but they are less of a threat since the NCR moved in McCarran.
Makes you wish New Vegas was real
Yea, same… until heat and dehydration set in
Could you do videos like this for Fallout 3 and New Vegas too?
Of course, I will continue!
If I lived in the mojave I’d stay far away from nv
I’d agree. Most towns in the wastes seem much safer in many regards
Hey please can you make a bigger video on the same topic ik that you have a life but I'll appreciate it
😅I don’t really have time for a life so we’ll see.
LFGGGG
🙏
Wow... Forcing animals to fight to the death is more ethical than slot machines... Not a take i expected to hear today.
I wouldn't mind these videos being hours long 🤔
Noted, not sure if I will but it’s good to get feedback.
27:20 LMAO
that was a very satisfying moment
First btw
your speed is undeniable Mr. Krabs. I must've left a penny in the comments
There are people who live in New Vegas though.
like who? Members of the Casino Family, Mr. House?, Those stationed at the NCR Embassy?
@ I’m sure there’s real estate going on there we aren’t currently aware of, anyway there’s no overthinking it. I really enjoyed the video!
@ Perhaps in the version of the Strip that wasn't cut during the short development. Thanks!
