    I understand your point of view but most fish sellers online will in fact not refund you or give you another fish unless the fish dies while its in the bag and you send them a photo within an hour after you get them., so the fact that these fish died after a day of you having them is considered your fault (even if its not 100% yours) Also, you said the fish disappeared, this isn't the stores fault so they shouldn't have to pay you back or send another. I like your videos and all but I feel like you are putting way to much blame on the seller when most of it wasn't their fault and they are only going by what most fish sellers do.
    As for the fish disappearing, do you think they could've just died and the other fish ate them? Most of the time that is what happens.

      You are probably correct about the missing fish and shrimp being eaten by other fish after they died. The shrimp dying was probably my fault (not sure how) but I’m not really blaming live aquaria for that, however according to their policy if I could find the dead body I would get $20 back. What I was talking mostly about was the fish coming in smaller than it should have. Before ordering the fish online, I read a lot of great reviews from live aquaria customers and one of them even specifically said they had a fish come in small and said live aquaria sent them out a bigger one the next day. I felt like they did not handle the situation with the small fish correctly. However the urchin not being shipped even when I had already paid and it said it was in stock, and the tiny fish was their fault. The wrass always hiding and the death of the shrimp could be caused by a number of other things. Also, they denied me when I asked to add a few freshwater fish (that I would obviously pay for) to my second order (the back ordered urchin) and instead said if I wanted any other fish they could not ship with the urchin and I would have to create a new order for the 2 $5 I asked for.

      I have found when ordering fish, corals, or inverts online they will always be less colorful/smaller then advertisered especially if the fish only cost you $20. You cannot expect a nearly half grown fish for $15-20 no matter the fish.

    • @NurseChuck
      @NurseChuck 4 года назад +1

      You actually were dogging live aquaria for the missing fish and you were attempting a refund on those which hey I guess worth a try but you can’t be disappointed with not getting it. The small fish was on the cheaper side so like another person said you can’t expect to get a fish that has not only been quarantined but fed and cared for to a more full grown size. I personally have heard nothing but good things from my reefing friends and plan to purchase from them shortly.

    Update - 2 weeks after filming this video, the urchin showed in stock on their website but had not shipped. I called and they told me they could reopen my order for one more week and would make a note to ship it out (the person I spoke to was very helpful unlike the others). A few days after that call (today) the urchin showed up. He is very tiny but is doing well. (UPDATE) urchin showed up with some crushed spines but I thought he would bounce back - urchin died the next day. Also, the wrass is still hiding 24/7 and doesn't not eat even when I put brine shrimp right next to his hiding spot.

  • @Brett5106
    @Brett5106 4 года назад +5

    Your problem was drip acclimating them for to long. They died because of ammonia burn to their gills. Sitting in a bag for 24 hours the ammonia when you open the bag goes up fast and is toxic. The ph rises and the ammonia goes up. You have a better chance of temperature acclimating then putting them in the tank.

    when receiving shipped fish you can’t drip acclimate for too long. the ammonia filled water is deadly by itself, and when exposed to oxygen sitting there, the fish can suffer from ammonia burn. i NEVER drip acclimate shipped fish, for this sole reason

    • @ChewysBro
      @ChewysBro  4 года назад

      So I would kind of agree with you. However - sensitive inverts really do need acclimation time and they generally don’t produce as much ammonia. The reason I tried to drip acclimate everything in the video though, well those were live Aquarian’s directions that were posted on their website. They said to drip acclimate everything. LA recommended to drip for 1 hr

    I ordered from them once, never again. Was sent a wrong(cheaper) shrimp, also dead fish and shrimp. They credited me for the initial death. I had fish die shortly after unboxing, most showed signs of damage from shipping. These were "expert" and not covered other than arrival.

    That’s why you don’t buy fish over the Internet when you buy a fish from the store they don’t give you no warranty anyways

  • @laurelsherman811

    Your main issues are definitely the damsels in the tank. This is why your cardinal and flasher wrasse would not eat and kept hiding. The damsels should have been added last do to how Territorial they are. I watched one of the pick at the foxface during the video. They where probably picking at your wrasse and cardinal. Why I understand the frustration with the company most fish stores don't give any warranty with their fish so for them just to ask for a pic isn't that bad of policy. Other companies make you cut the fish at the back of the head. I would have been mad about the size issues though.

    I was just considering ordering from them too... I wasn’t planning to any time soon but I probably would have used them when I did, if I hadn’t watched this. Do you have any other online companies you’ve had better luck with/would recommend?

      If you like guppies, Twin Cities Guppies has the most beautiful guppies you’ll ever find. I’ve ordered from them twice with really good results. Do not order from Space City Fish and Coral in Houston Texas. Their website showed the most beautiful bettas, however mine arrived DOA in the most disgusting, dirtiest, filthiest, smelly water you can imagine. Poor little fish, I think he suffocated in that sludge. You would think a company would have more pride than to send out a fish that way.

  • @owenreaney6864

    You actual burn their fins by keeping them in their bag water after exposure to outside air

  • @donnaqib786
    @donnaqib786 5 лет назад +2

    You are not suppose to drip acclimate a fish that gets shipped to you. The moment you open the bags the amonia in the bag reacts with the air and begins to burn the fish gills. That is why your cardinal was gasping for air and by the filter. The proper way is to float them and drop them into a qt tank and check for any issues.

    • @ChewysBro
      @ChewysBro  5 лет назад

      Naqib Karwani the way I acclimated the fish was the same way the live aquaria sheet tells you how to acclimate their fish. I followed their instructions and they recommended either doing drip acclimation or adding water to the bags every 4 mins.

    • @ChewysBro
      @ChewysBro  5 лет назад

      However I definitely have heard that ammonia becomes more toxic when exposed to air so I’m not sure why live aquaria would recommend drip acclimation then

    Live aquaria also is not responsible for the fish or anything really it’s the sellers on the website. Who knows that coral you ordered (assuming you live in the untied states) could have come from Thailand or China or something.

    Also your clean up crew most probably cleaned up the dead fish. As soon as a fish dies in my tank the clean up crew rush straight to it.

    Do not believe these people. They stole 70+ dollars from me. The fish I ordered arrived late, half were dead, and they were fry. They never refunded me. I disputed the charge and they told my credit card company that I received my shipment. Before the dispute I talked with 3 different people at Live Aquaria, they all told me something different.

    I’m having a similar experience. I ordered 3 dwarf neon blue gouramis, but they were much bigger than they were supposed to be. I believe they sent powder blue gouramis. Regardless, it really doesn’t matter because 1 week after I got them, one died. Two days after that a second one died, which was yesterday. Today, the third fish has started swimming on his side and I’m sure he’s going to die as well. I followed acclimation procedures to the letter, and I highly doubt it was that because I feel they would have died right away. They did issue store credit for the price of the first one, but you lose out on what you pay for shipping and the “box” fee. I’m with you, I won’t be buying any more live fish from them, but I will use my credit for frozen fish food. If I get credit for all 3 fish remains to be seen. I don’t understand the picture on the white background either. Interestingly, I’ve ordered online from other places, and did not ship overnight express, but priority mail. One order was misdirected by the post office and I didn’t get them until 4 days after they were shipped. They were alive and healthy, hot pack still warm, and they’re still alive. One more thing - about you wanting to add to your order and they wouldn’t let you - you could have cancelled the first order and then re-ordered everything on the same order so you aren’t paying two shipping fees. I did that, but now I cancelled the fish that were back ordered because I’m too leery of their fish after my gourami experience.

    So the thing that gets me about this is that you were bitching about not getting a refund. But on the website it’s says you need to take the pics of the dead fish to get a refund. But you can’t find the bodies. So of course they would say too bad when you don’t have pics to prove it. So your mad at them for fallowing there own policies? And then you get mad cause you got a fish that was on the smaller size of there listing? You spent $13 like you said. That’s the smallest size on the site. You should of thought of that before hand. This is the reason bad reviews are funny to me. You paid the lowest amount on the fish you wanted and got mad when you didn’t get the best possible size of the fish.

    • @ChewysBro
      @ChewysBro  5 лет назад

      Out of that whole order - one fish is still alive. When the $35 wrass died, I sent them a picture and a refund was never sent. Also, the fish coming in seemingly smaller than advertised. No matter the price of the fish, it should at least show up at the size advertised. I have ordered fish from many places and sites and they always have showed up as advertised.

    Why would they have to refund you cuz your fish died while in your care??? They seemed to be alive and well when you got them.

    • @ChewysBro
      @ChewysBro  4 года назад

      Well - they do guarantee the fish for 14 days after you get them so it would make sense following their policy that they would refund them. Also the royal gramma came in almost dead (Luckily he made it) and the cardinal came in smaller than he should. I would take more responsibility if my previous fish also died around the same time because then it would indicate that there was probably something wrong with my water. But for Just new fish to go missing/die - this could be caused by weak specimens being sent or they were damaged during shipping.
