    Before you replace your gearbox I have a suggestion for you, Look into eliminating your rag joint. You can do it by getting a intermediate shaft out of a 88 to 94 jeep Cherokee

    • @madmike_9343
      @madmike_9343  3 года назад +1

      I did do that actually, I have a bad gear box

    • @jonathanhudson4623
      @jonathanhudson4623 2 года назад +1

      Not only can you do the jeep Cherokee shaft you I'm 99% sure you can get a lot tighter steering box from a late 80 (mine is an 89) WS6 optioned formula firebird, GTA, or Camaro z28 or iroc-z) my steering box is still I my 89 formula firebird because I built a fully race built stroker 383 and converted from the automatic 700r4 to a manual 6 speed from an LT1 powered Camaro SS, but alot of guys get the fast ratio steering boxes from late model 3rd gen f-bodies (camaro and firebirds) to put in other cars. all WS6 optioned firebirds before 1992 should be the right one. I'm a firebird guy but about 98% of everything crosses over between the Camaros. I think they are 3 turns lock to lock but might actually be a little tighter than that (I cant remember off the top of my head) I built the 89 formula when I was 16 which was 21 years ago and if still runs 10s in the 1/4 and I can still daily drive it. I also have a 2000 zr2 4x4 s10 and I learned about the Cherokee shaft because its narrower and gives just enough clearance to use 98 or 99 cast steel ls1 f-body exhaust manifolds to do a LS v8 swap into a 4x4 S10. You need the 98-99 ones because thet are cast steel and you can werks them easy since you have to cut the flabge off and add an extension to the deived side at the very least. the newer 2000-2002 ones are cast iron (or I'd use the ones off my 71k mile 2002 WS6 TransAm 6speed). The 02 also runs 10s and is my daily driver. Both cars have nitrous like most everything else I've modded. The zr2 s10 is my first LS swap and first turbo build and despite the nah sayers it will have A/C, power everything and be as normal of a daily drived as my 02 transam is, until you stomp it. actually more so if an easy daily since it will be an automatic. If you ever want to do an LS swap look for an L33 5.3L (5300 H.O.) because it's an aluminum block 5.3L with 799 heads which are the same casting as the 243 heads on an ls6 and it weights the same or maybe a bit less than the all iron 4.3L (big deal for 4x4 guys with torsion bar front suspensions). Theres alot of tricks to free up the power on the 4.3L but the intake is the killer. You can actually get good cams, heads, headers, and full exhaust but that spider injection intake is junk. Also the 4.3 likes to break the block with most any power adder. If you haven't replaced the steering box yet make sure they are the same and get a new/remanufactured one for a 1989 WS6 (performance package) formula firebird it will really tighten up your steering. Alot of 3rd gen f-body stuff swaps over to the s10. I've noticed a ton of guys have transams or camaros along with their s10. Probably because of the drivetrain similarities.

    Dash looks good How did you get your dash painted and it actually look glossy and smooth? Any interior panels I've tried any color change on always scratches off so easily leaving the original color showing and always dull / flat looking. Ended up looking like cheap spray painted interior. just got a s10 extreme for a project and want to do my dash and interior panels but don't want to trash my interior 😂

    • @madmike_9343
      @madmike_9343  2 месяца назад

      @@brandonmunday1494 it’s kinda a process but I can walk you through it.
      First, you gotta clean with alcohol and sand it with 180.
      Next get some filler primer give it like 3 coats . Take some flat black spray paint and mist your panel.
      Wetsand with 320. What you’re looking to do is get rid of all the flat black spray paint it will show you low spots.
      Once that’s done, you can use your spray paint use color and clear . I would avoid the single stage paints if you can.

      @@tannerhederson4067 yea for your cracked bezel, roughen the underside plastic where broken with 80grit and clean with alcohol, tape the broken piece back on the front. Buy some plastic epoxy (make sure it sticks to ABS plastic) and glue it on the sanded side, reenforce with fiberglass if needed.

    You can get a beautiful steering wheel from Grant and retain the Airbag which is a law to remove it.
