  • The Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library Genealogy and Local History department is honoring the 50-year anniversary of the first Cincinnati Pride, which took place in 1973, through digital artifacts and oral history interviews with notable and elder members of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky LGBTQIA+ community. Nigel Cotterill (he/him) moved from England to the USA in 1988 for a job in the machine tool business in Cincinnati, but did a lot of traveling and was crucial in making the business a mega-million dollar company. His job was eliminated after 22 years due to his gay connections. Nigel jumped on board with Hamburger Mary's, followed by Below Zero Lounge and now, just Tillie's lounge in Northside. He is semi-retired, and served as president of the Cincinnati Gay Chamber for a couple of terms and helped Cincinnati Pride expand to downtown. He is also the founder of Tri-State Leather.

I'm in Melbourne, Australia and it's fascinating to hear living history from another place in the world. Thank you for uploading, it's been a great way to begin my day listening to this gentleman's stories
