I find mirroring my iPhone to my MacBook in my office in the mornings helps the small display interface issue that somewhat disconnects me from the experience. Great app when used this way for the time being 😊
Brooke, thank you for your review, I liked and subscribed. I would like to ask you to review the Cintanotes, Notion and Fiinote programs. In particular, I really like Cintanotes. I would like developers to be motivated to make a version for Mac Os. Anyway, thanks for your reviews, I find them useful!
I am so perplexed why Apple didn't release this app in iPad at the same time. It's bananas. I have used the journal app a couple of times on my phone, but honestly until there Apple releases this for iPad , I am not investing my time into it. Like you, I don't want to text in my thoughts for into something that is supposed to promote memory keeping, mental health, and mindfulness. It's a shame. I am trying to figure out what the Apple developers must have been thinking when they designed a journal app and then made it unavailable on their own piece of technology where one of that technology's key features is digital hand writing and drawing,
Another great video, Brooke. Totally agree, I can’t believe this isn’t available on iPad. Crazy! I’ll be watching and waiting for this to come to iPad. Love the way you showed all the features. I want to try it … on my iPad. 😉
This was a very interesting video subject. You really had me convinced I should try it but then you mentioned no iPad app. The features look great but it would be difficult to do this on an iPhone, even with a pro max size of screen. Thanks for the videos you make.
Great review! The way I get around the thumb typing is by typing my messages or my journal entries in my notes. Then I cut and paste them into the area provided in the journaling app. That has worked very well for me.
I have been Journaling for years I agree with you I want an iPad app. I do not like typing with my thumbs. I would also like a Search function I routinely search my Day One Journal for specific events. I stopped using DO now I use the journal app exclusively and like it a lot. thank you for your review it was very helpful

I agree, my preferred journaling method is on my iPad early in the morning, and somewhere quiet. I have been using the Day One app for years, and I am curious if there is a hidden agreement between Apple and Bloom Built not to release the Journal app for iPad anytime soon due to their partnership back in the day. Fingers crossed that we see it on iPad soon, would love to have a native app that does not have a subscription fee. Great video, thank you!
I am worried about file size because I love to use the Journal app like a collage of photos and podcasts listened to. (I do the „real“ journaling by hand, Ryder Carrol-style) And it makes me nervous that I can‘t find a way to export into a different format, like PDF or Pages or such. Would be great for backup and to do more with it.
I completely agree a iPad is greatly needed. I also like your calendar idea. I tend to use dictation when entering things on my iPhone for the journal app.
Wonderful video. completely understood everything. I agree with having an iPad APP. The flow of writing would be more natural for me. Thank you for making this all easy and relaxing to understand.
Your videos are amazing Brook, I am hoping you may know the answer to this daunting question about Journal. I naively recorded a interview with a family member thinking it would be a breeze to export the audio to another Apple app. : ( If I am missing something beyond playing and recording it onto another device with an app that will allow me to use it as a voiceover I will maintain my faith in my beloved Apple Apps.
Thank you! I’ve wondered about this. I would also prefer to use it on an iPad. Despite that, I think I’ll start using it on my phone. I appreciate you!
Thank you for this new and as always excellent review 🙏 I agree with you on all of your critique points but I would add that the lack of a search function adds up to the list of things (no iPad version, no calendar view, doom scroll layout) making this app useless for me. Also probably just me being an introverted weirdo but I find it kind of intrusive with all that monitoring and suggesting as the premise for this app. Luckily there are other apps to choose from. My personal favorite journaling app is 'My W Days'. P.S. I liked that sentence on your screen recording of entries "if nothing changes, nothing changes". That really resonated with me for some reason 😊
Generally I like the Journal App, but I can’t find a search function or a #tags function. Maybe the pending iOS 18 with its much vaunted AI capabilities will fix these omissions?
I thought I had it on my IPad. But nope…only on the phone. I wanted to learn from you before proceeding and I will not do phone journal. Thank you though.
i do think it’s a pretty easy journaling app to use and more people have iphones than ipads, so i understand why they made an iphone app but i really wish the ipad app came out at the same time because it’s the perfect use case for it. hopefully soon! 🤞🏻
Definitely need for iPad. I’m older and I need my journal to be more visible. I’m not going to use my phone to journal. Plus I want to be able to use my pencil
I like to journal. I use my desktop and my cheap Android phone. While i do have a diary/journaling app on my iPad i don’t use it as often as the other two. Reason? The poor quality of iPad spell Check/auto suggest/autocorrect. Does anyone have a suggestion shout how to improve that iPad function? Had i known that was such a weak point i probably would NOT have chosen this device.
I'm baffled as to why they only have this app for the iPhone and not the iPad. I have large hands and the last thing I want to do it create a long journal entry on my iPhone. I completely agree that this really needs to be on iPad!
iPad and/or Mac app is really needed. Also I have heard people say that if you listen to a podcast on your Mac or iPad, it won't show up in Journal suggestions. For the walled garden we live in, that should not be the case. LOL
I never journaled so I don’t think I would start now. I do however have a medical notebook. Ok, we can call it a journal. I use Apple Notes to document all of my doctor visits, medications, procedures, surgeries, etc. yeah, I have a lot of issues. Maybe if it was an iPad app I would try it. Star date 2024.3.18, watched Brooke’s video about the Journal App.
The reason I don’t journal more is because I don’t want to do it on the phone. I’d like to be able to actually write in the iPad. Just seems like that would be a better experience. Maybe they’re introducing that with the new iPads?
Hey Brooke! Loved this video! Apple really is the best at keeping its tools simple, private, and consistent. Excited to watch your growth because your content is truly amazing. I'd really love to connect and hear your thoughts on our startup. With Twos, we want people to live a more calm and connected life by streamlining their notes/reminders/calendars/tasks into one simple place. I've reached out a couple of times via email and will follow up again now. If you have just a sec to share your thoughts/availability I'd really appreciate it! Thanks, Joe.
I have a feeling like the calculator app - this is going to be iPhone only. I would love this on the iPad but my gut tells me Apple sees this as an App you want with your main device
A few recommendations, first a calendar view would be great, IPad version is a no brainer, Apple sometimes is so smart and intuitive and sometimes is dumb and clueless, iPad journal , please Apple. Have notes shared entries with the journal and have a search feature.
Totally agree: Apple releasing a journaling app on iPhone only is just flat-out dumb. Using a pencil is great, but using a full keyboard is great too for other reasons. A journal app for iPhone only just shows how out of touch Apple is becoming with its customers.
👋🏻have you tried the Journal app yet? what do you think?
Will give it a try! Thank you for the video🙏
@@heshamaskar67 you're welcome!
I'm trying it today as a matter of fact. I've kept physical journals for decades, but wanting to branch out. this seemed like at perfect opportunity.

10 minutes with Brooke is more useful and efficient than hours learning or hesitating or wasting time to search. Bravo Brooke and thank you very much.

Can be exported?
Yes, on the iPad it would be fantastic when write, it's a more beautiful feeling of expression than with buttons
Thx I’ve been wondering about this app. Didn’t have time yet to explore
no problem, glad it was helpful!
Okay, my journal app is setup 😊
Great video. I'm with you on the iPad app. I'm not going to do extensive journaling with my thumbs. 😄
Yes! Thank you!
What’s the point if if it isn’t on the iPad?
YES iPad. You mentioned “Day One” which i have been using for many years. Are you switching (when iPad version release) cold turkey 🥶 🦃 or???
as long as it supports writing with the apple pencil (which i think it should) then yes i would!

Can you print your journal. Was recently on a trip that I journaled and added photos every day and would like to print it.
unfortunately i don’t see an option to print or export journal entries yet :( it’s definitely needed, so hopefully in a future software update 🤞🏻🙏🏻
I agree with you 100% that it should be an iPad app as well. It just gives you more room to think. 😊
Is there a search engine to find older entries?
unfortunately not. that’s another missing feature that will hopefully be introduced in an update!

It would be nice if I could post selected journal entries to other places like an email, a document,or message or even Facebook
Oh that would be a great feature add! Hopefully in a future software update 🙏🏻
Can you search within the journal. For a particular word or name of a person. This would be essential for me. They need the iPad app.
I agree. I prefer an iPad journal app.
I completely agree to make this sing it needs to be on iPad as on my iPhone I have been using my travel Bluetooth keyboard.

💯
Bottomline: if there is no iPad app the app is useless. People journal with hand and pen!
