Austin St. John borrowed and my Red Ranger helmet for a private photo shoot at Power Morphicon 2014. This is my fanboy reaction, and ASJ returning the helmet
To everyone saying ASJ was being rude.. first of all, look at the line he has to deal with.. ALOT of other eager fans holding in their piss also waiting to meet him. He obviously has a long day ahead of him. He still took the time to return the helmet in a fun way, and took the time to acknowledge and shake his hand like a gentleman. Also how would you feel if you were constantly being crowded by a bunch of giddy fans who look like they’re about to pee themselves.. I know he’s a hero to many but he’s still human and stuff like this can be very draining on anyone. Although overwhelmingly busy, he remained professional. He’s already given a lot to all of us 90’s kids.. he doesn’t owe anyone anything.
A lot of people are saying that its weird that Austin made him wait. Honestly, it wasn't weird at all. If you've hosted an event like this and been in Austin's shoes, you'll know that it's common courtesy to finish your pre-existing conversation first, before moving onto another person. I've been in car shows where this was an issue. I'll see someone who is waiting to talk to me, and in the back of my mind I'm thinking "Man I hate making them wait.", But if you cut off your current conversation to move on, you come off as rude. So yes, I understand where Austin is coming from. Because if you notice, he walked out and that guy who was already with him, had a conversation already going with him. You guys need to see it from both sides. Not just one. Thanks.
Plus it's basic conversational etiquette even outside of this kind of high-pressure social situation. It's really rude to cut off a conversation with anyone just because someone you want to talk to more showed up.
Awesome man that was worth it. Ignore the wait comments. People forget if you didn't wait he would of just gave it back and left within seconds or worst would of told someone else to return it on his behalf. Instead you were there in the moment which is much better.
I've met Austin before and he has to be one of the sweetest guys I've met. All the guys from MMPR that I've met have been nothing but absolute gentlemen and so selfless. I still need to meet Paul (Bulk) and Walter (Zack) to complete my "Original Cast" list.
I met Austin last Friday at Comicpalooza. One of the nicest guys I have ever met. I told him how much of a power rangers fan I was growing up and how I had one of the episodes of VHS XD.

wreckeddiehard Well he was in ZEO which was probably the only random themed PR season ever. I think ASJ will comeback and have a mentor role. I don't remember if this idea was true or not, but the whole Power Rangers Hexagon was going to be during the Ninja Storm season so I think ASJ will comeback regardless of the season's theme.

I know exactly how it feels man. I met FOUR different Rangers at the London Comic Con; one of which was the legend himself Jason David Frank and I literally couldn't stop shaking. I also got my picture taken with a guy in a super realistic Red Ranger costume. (Wait, that wasn't you, was it? XD)
oh man, i just got all excited when he followed me on twitter. i can't put the words about how you were feeling. your reaction was totally just like mine when i saw "ASJ follows you" on twitter. my dad stared at me when i jumped out of my chair after reading that.. but your experience with him is obviously more amazing than mine. you are so lucky that you got this chance man.. congrats :)
Austin was respectful to each fan and gave undivided attention to everyone and expected everyone else to respect this. That is all. It is what leaders do to ensure everyone is heard.

I love your mindset,...I remember being on a site, I think maybe a gaming site, and I remember saying to myself, man , how come they never do this or that, ...it could be about movie ideas, or inventions, or whatever,..then I noticed s comment by someone,...(although it wasn't to me) the person said, stop waiting for someone else to do it, and why not do it yourself! Sometimes, if you want something done,..you can do it yourself, I like your thought process, it reminds me, to stop waiting on others, and to get in gear, and get things done! Thumbs up to you!

Weird how he made the guy wait to get his helmet back. Poor guy was probably waiting in line for hours up to that point, then an additional wait period while ASJ ducked out of sight in that backstage area. The hell man haha.. Also the girl in the pink ranger costume is a cutie 😊
Alright man, give it to me straight... how's the suit fit without the armor? We're similar builds and I've held off buying a red ranger cosplay because I worry about the tightness of the material over my stomach. Would you have felt comfortable just wearing the suit?
Do you have a compression shirt? You can buy those at Walmart or whatever. Similar feel. The suit was custom made for me...including my tummy...and so it is very accommodating! I feel very comfortable in my suit. the only problem would be the underhood (the white "head-bra" as my parents call it) because it is like wearing a scarf. If you live in a very cold area, then be sure to wear something warm over it. If live somewhere hot, then youll be fine

I actually ran into him at comic con this year. I was in the concession stand line at hall H and he had just arrived to the event, he had his luggage and whatnot with him and he passed through the line in front of me and grabbed my arm as he did. Totally fangirled but played it cool

You guys were like Heyyy and he dodge you out and made you wait. That is the reason i dont get excited when i meet stars. They expect me to get all hiped like you did and i just treat them like regular people. If i ever meet Austin and tell him hey i was 12 when your season debuted, he might reply wow i feel old, making me feel old. So i just treat start like normal people. I would had said Fuck it and leave da helmet, take my red ranger suit off and dump it in a nearby trash can were he can see me and dress as the greeb ranger to see how he like that. That was rude and embarrassing. Also he shouldn't had followed him to get hes coins signed.
It's hit or miss with some of these guys. Maybe he didn't get much sleep the night before. For some of them they have to travel pretty far to get to these places, and sometimes room and board is provided, sometimes not. Maybe he didn't like the place he stayed at or the promoter who runs the convention didn't pay him enough for his appearance. I'm not sure exactly but I feel some of these former actors agree to do it for the sake of trying to keep their careers going a bit longer.

Was your helmet signed before he took it? I can see on the back some writing. I mean if he took the time to sign it before bringing it back out, def worth the wait as well as to have his coins signed too
So while waiting in that line (as you can see in the video) I had him sign the helmet. Then he had to go and asked if he could borrow my helmet for a photoshoot. Then the rest is history

Well first, his manager was going to simply give it to me but I thought ASJ should do it for its awesomeness! Second, the guy who is talking to ASJ is the guy who is supposedly in charge of Dino Charge or Bandai asking him "secret" stuff that I didnt hear but that is what people are telling me sooooooooooo these 8 minutes are worth waiting cause we might have ASJ in Dino Charge! Again, this is a maybe.

You guys were like Heyyy and he dodge you out and made you wait. That is the reason i dont get excited when i meet stars. They expect me to get all hiped like you did and i just treat them like regular people.

sorry to hear that. You must have got him on a bad time. Usually he is REALLY amazing and will talk to you for a bit!
It's hit or miss with some of these guys. Maybe he didn't get much sleep the night before. For some of them they have to travel pretty far to get to these places, and sometimes room and board is provided, sometimes not. Maybe he didn't like the place he stayed at or the promoter who runs the convention didn't pay him enough for his appearance. I'm not sure exactly but I feel some of these former actors agree to do it for the sake of trying to keep their careers going a bit longer.

the wait as well as to have his coins signed too
So while waiting in that line (as you can see in the video) I had him sign the helmet. Then he had to go and asked if he could borrow my helmet for a photoshoot. Then the rest is history
