Say what you wanna say but that in my opinion was a good foul. You see a much bigger guy like Zeller with an easy shot like that and it's a really close game at late I would have probably done the same. Sure the dragging to the floor is where the flagrant comes in, but if he hadn't had done all the extra then it would have just been a personal.
This is a fragrant 2. But compare to wade foul that include kicking to the groin or pushing people to the floor during a fastbreak is definitely worse than this and wade haven't been ejected for those.
John Covele Its a good foul because it was a close game...so he couldnt let him score,if he opts for the foul he has to make sure his opponent doesnt score. He used both arms to make sure of that and because it happened in mid air they fell & it went from a routine foul to a flagrant. Then the little scuffle made it flagrant 2. (Ref judgement)
Never seen this guy ever in our bench. Perhaps I wasn't watching too many of my Nets games lately. But as much as I hate that grab, he had no choice, it was either an and-1 call for sure or a FT and a possession for them. It was a lose-lose.
He had no choice? The ONLY choice was to let Cody make the basket. You don't take out a player with a cheap shot any time you get outplayed. That's why the flagrant foul rule is there, to prevent games from turning into fight club and prevent injuries. It's not like it was game 7 of a playoff series...
John Covele I beg to differ. You are just exaggerating. No doubt, it was risky but it couldn't put a guy out. The grab itself borders between the definition of a Flagrant 1 and 2. It can go either way. He made that decision mid-air based on the instinct the Zeller had the chance to shoot. And so he did. And it wasn't a cheap shot, it wasn't like an blind elbow box out for a board, or grabbing someone down when they're elevating fast for a lay up or an intentional hit. It was simply a grab on his way down. As I mentioned, guy probably didn't even have a minute on court and wanted to show how serious he is. Any competition should be hard competition, doesn't matter if its pre or post-season.
Carmelo Basco My point is that if you commit flagrant fouls any time you get beat, there will be fights and injuries. That's not good basketball. This time there was not a high danger of injury, but do that on a regular basis and there will be. Any player except for Cody would have started a brawl after getting hacked like that. You can commit a foul and prevent a basket most of the time without doing what that guy did.
If he would of done that to LeBron he could of got away with the flagrant. The refs hate LeBron. They have a rule to always rule these fouls a common foul.
Lol dude coughed up 15k out of his 28k salary from the two 10 day contracts he got. Lucky he got an extension for the year, probably won't make the team next year so that's irrelevant.
a pesar que tiene un contrato temporal y era su ultimo juego hizo la falta por el equipo y por el partido, es muy inteligente y leal! MIS RESPETOS!
can you guys post highlights of guttierez? he's one of the few mexicans in the nba, last time he had 10 points but I missed the game.

dude, wade was ejected after kicking to the groin -____-
He had no choice but to foul, sometime you have to make sure they dont have a chance to score. Good foul
Why did he have no choice? Why not just let him score? He got thrown out of the game and almost started a brawl, so I don't think it was a good foul.

John Covele Because they were down by 4

TURN DOWN FOR WHAT? How dare Jorge Gutierrez did this for Cody Zeller? This is a showoff.

He is clearly doing something that would lead into a fight but yet he wasn't really going at it just puzzles me and the foul was totally unnecessary.
good foul but there is a bad call for the official
That's Cody Zeller. Not Tyler..
Thank You! Fixed
That isn't a flagrant foul 2, Jorge avoided hitting Cody Zeller.
