Al Simmons You would be correct bruh. As a young kid at the time, I’ve always love this matchup come playoff time. It was always volatile. Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson set the tone as they could not stand each other at the time.

Boy. Looking back at these Sports Center graphics. Whoa. But the production was better. Direct review of what the game was what happened it it. Straight to the point.
Still haven't forgiven Stern for suspending the whole Knicks team for this fight. I get suspending participants in the fight but suspending Ewing a game for just wondering around the court during the commotion sucked. Yes, I know the rule exists but could have suspended him for regular season game next year rather than playoff game the way they did in MLB when Alomar spat on the umpire.
I was at this game, in Miami Arena, literally. I was 13 years old at the time. I made my dad take me to the game. I will never forget this. The Heat and the league in general were known for getting into brawls every other game, but especially the Heat because we were so hardcore on our blacktop-style defense during our Atlantic Division championship days. So I was used to kerfuffles on the court. But I had never seen anything like this. PJ literally FLIPPED Charlie Ward. Cartwheeled the guy. I could not believe my eyes. I bet New Yorkers watching it were like "WHAT THE FUUUUUU! YOU KILLED OUR BEST QUARTERBACK!!!!!"
I was 12 watching that game. Every body in Tallahassee was talking about it cuz it was Charlie Ward fighting and being a heisman winner @ FLORIDA STATE. Good old days
Michael Bonhomme Euro basketball has stained the true meaning of basketball these days. Running up the score in the name of entertainment. I love basketball as much as the next fan. At least make it worthwhile with the defense being part of the equation.
Ewing took maybe two steps onto the court and got suspended for game 6 along with Alan Houston & Ward. Knicks played valiantly, but remember seeing Oakley trying to lead a fast break and knowing it wasn’t going to turn out well.
Nba of the lebron era is not even a shadow of what it was before the players in the game had much more passion and iy was more enjoyable n entertaining because of it wasnt so soft
Had Ewing, Johnson, Houston, Starks not been suspended for leaving their bench during the altercation between Ward and Brown, the Knicks win Game 6 at the Garden however get beat by the Bulls in 5 or 6 in the ECF. Disappointingly we’ll never now.
Back when basketball was still a physical sport. The NBA today is soft. If Jordan played in todays league, he’d be a MONSTER because nobody would be allowed to touch him.
Mind you, the aftermath of this went into a federal court. The union argued that the way the suspensions were handed out violated the CBA. The union lost, the Knicks got the brunt of the suspensions and never recovered.
Don’t forget Knick’s they had 3-1 lead before that game and all those stupid suspensions that basically killed them. That year was probably their best chance to get past the bulls !
Those suspensions were the only reason that weaker Miami team beat the Knicks. The Knicks never really "rivaled" Miami, just beat the brakes off of them year after year. This series was literally the only one the Heat actually won, and the league won it for them via suspension.
in ALL honesty i really really HATE ward + i got nothing against brown + ward boxed out not thinking anything of how he did it + browm didn't flip him just 2 flip him
