I did watch video to the end (a couple of times) it keeps telling me I have to download google (which I opened with) to be able to print the patterns? Help please
1st Dress a Girl Around the World for 2024 dress made from your pattern. With the big side panel pockets. So excited. Thrift store find $2.00 linen table cloth & I cut 2 dresses out of it. God Bless you and your “Thoughtful Creativity” & free patterns ❤️🥰🙏
Good morning Alisa! Once again, I have to thank you for this (and the other DAG patterns from years past) and the informative tutorials on each. At nearly 70 years old and sewing for more than 50 of those, I have learned/relearned skills that I never thought I could do. Making and using bias tape for binding and ties is no longer scary 🤣, I learned to use my gathering foot on the new serger I got from my husband this spring and while it took me 3 tries, I think I've mastered the art of patch pockets on the 2021 dress!!! This has been a fantastic month of sewing and I am sending Mari 12 dresses this week. Thank you, thank you, thank you for teaching an "old dog new tricks" in such an enjoyable way!!!!!🥰🥰
You've outdone yourself... again! This is SUCH an adorable dress and I love, love, love the pockets. I can't wait to get started on this pattern. Your instructions are great - concise and complete. Thank you so much for all you do.
I just love it when your little darling comes in to model the outfit -- whatever it is! And also the kitty! Of course, YOU are the star! Love ya! This is a cute little dress!
I've made 3 of these now and I have to say, they are quite fun!! The pattern has given me more experience with making, using my own bias tape and it's not as difficult as I have imagined. I'm not a very fast sewer and if I could just eliminate my bone-head mistakes that cause me to waste time ripping out things and re-sewing, I could get one done in a day - including cutting out. Thank you for this pattern!
Oooooh, 3 already??? That's AMAZING, Christine! I am so, so glad you are getting the practice in with the bias tape, I think it is one of those things that gets easier and easier with every time and then you won't even notice how it becomes a second nature. I was secretly hoping that this little dress will help people with practicing bias tape technique :)
Thank you so much I have been sewing dresses for DAG now for 7 years so this pattern will be a nice change as I have just been donated. Huge pile of cotton pieces! 🥰
That is awesome! I am already working/planning the free pattern for the next year, so thank you so so much for sharing your heart and your gifts with others!
I love your videos!!! You show us step-by-step and this is really teaching me how to sew; something I have dreamed of for many years, THANK YOU!!! Please keep them coming..,
Thank you again, Alisa, for creating and sharing another wonderful free dress pattern with us for PDAG! God bless you!!! 🙏🏻 Love the patchwork look of the pattern and big pockets! Your little girl sure looks happy wearing the dress and I'm sure the recipients of these dresses will, too. 😊
He he, those pockets are meant to house alllllllll of the treasures that little girls like to collect - shells, rocks, flowers :) I made one dress for Artemis, too (she was so happy), the rest are going off to Mari :)
Oh, my gosh, Alisa! Thank you for this pattern! I've made 28 of them so far, and I think I'm addicted. I just love putting together fabrics and colors for these cutie-pie dresses. I've come up with a variation that I think the little girls will love: Cut two fronts and use different (complementary) fabrics for them. Also divide the sides down the middle and use the two different fabrics so that when she wears it, it will show all of one fabric. That way she has two dresses in one without making it reversible. Score! Thanks again for this wonderful, playful pattern.
That is a great idea!!! And wow - 28!!! Thank you so so SO MUCH for sharing your heart and talent and making a difference!!! I will have to think of another fun and playful pattern for the next year :)
@catstitchstudio I'm trying so hard to picture what you are explaining but I just can't get it. Why cut 2 fronts in different fabrics if the dress isn't going to be reversible? My silly brain just can't get it. Are you using 2 fronts instead of having a back?
@@oodles_of_noodles.Hi, there. It's a different kind of reversible. It can be worn with either side facing front. Two dresses in one. Does that explain it?
@@catstitchstudio Thank you!!! Yes, I understand now and that's a great idea for this beautiful dress. I can see little girls being really excited with their 2 in 1 dresses... their mothers too.
these are beautiful dresses, and the way they are constructed is so easy. you have a wonderful talent. and we are all so lucky that you shear you talent with each and every one of us. Thank you so much. x
Thank you for another beautiful dress pattern and another great video with clear and simple instructions. I'll now go and watch the video for your other dress pattern!
Hi Alisa! Thank You so much for sharing your patterns for this such a beautiful cause. Your enthusiasm lights up the room and definitely gives a lot of encouragement to others like me to do the same 💖🤗☺
This may be my favorite yet. Great design details and easy construction. Your approach for finishing the bodice is well thought out. Thanks for sharing with us for little girls around the world. ❤
Thank you Alisha for posting this free pattern!! Absolutely adorable and very easy to make. Love this pattern ❤ helped up my bias tape skills too, thank you again. Love sewing for Project Dress a Girl!
Absolutely adorable daughter and dresses! I'd wear that type dress myself! :-) I need to oil my sewing machine and will love to help this wonderful cause.
I’m definitely in! My husband watched this with me and said you talked him into sewing a dress, too! He made a shirt in high school in the 60’s! Wait for it!!
Maybe I'm a sewing whimp, but I printed out 4 pattern downloads. One download pattern piece for "Front" of dresse measured with and cut with seams specifications. One for "Back" piece measured and cut to added seam measurements. One for "Side Section" and one for the "Pockets". Now I can mass produce and not worry about cutting it wrong when I'm up in the middle of the night sewing. Thank-you for all your sewing guidance. What a blessing you are to the mission field. I'd like to think the world's a little better off because you're in it. Bless all you seamstresses out there sewing for missions and sewing for Jesus. May the Lord Bless you and keep .... make his face shine down upon you.... Amen!
April 2024 - thank you so much for your enthusiastic inspiration and superb filming of all the ticky bits - not to mention the fabulous cause. Our local fabric store has a sale on right now, so shall be paying them a visit. Can’t wait to start.
Beautiful dress and so well thought out! Thank you. One cutting suggestion: Cut the along front neckline pattern and leave a 1/2 inch connection at center front. You can just fold it down when your'e ready to cut the front.
I am a quilter, but I enjoy watching you sew. You give great directions. I make dresses for the Christmas Child using the t-shirt and sewing a ruffle on it for girls 12-14. I enjoy doing this. I am going over to your other tutorial. I think this could help me with making these dresses. TFS!
Thank you so much for the RUclips videos, I'm super excited can't wait to start making this beautiful dress, you make it super easy to print and cut out your patterns and you help me along the way how to piece them together. I see your twin, how precious.🥰
Thanks for the gorgeous pattern Alisa - I’ve just finished cutting it out. I like the way it is a very durable style and method of construction. I understand these dresses need to be robust as they may get washed in rivers and on rocks etc. So they have to be sturdy items to last. Your sewing method is exactly what I was looking for.
Wow! ❤❤❤❤❤ i love it. So, so beautiful dresses 👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩👌👌👌👌I don’t have girls so young but I will going to download the pattern because I’m sure I will have a granddaughter in the near future. 😊😉😂 at least I hope. I have a grandson for now🤣. Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😍😍😍😍😍
Watched your tutorial to the end a few times. THANK YOU. I am looking for a similar pattern for a 14 year old. I don't know how to increase and resize patterns. Any help you can give me is very appreciated. All your tutorials are clear, easy to follow and precise.
This dress is amazing and it looks absolutely gorgeous on your daughter. The variations are perfect for all levels of sewists. Thank you Alisa…another adorable & generous pattern. I had a tip I do for the seam binding: I make it a little more wide and I fold it in half, I then attach doubled and then flip it over and top stitch. I just found it cuts steps down. Keep up the great work. Your baby girl is growing so much and is just as precious as you! Blessings & besitos 💋💋💨
Oh yes, do it :) any simple A-line dress will do and from there you just have to divide it in segments and that really is all :) I have an A-line dress pattern drafting on the channel for adults/kids. So easy :)
I just made my first Dress a Girl dress from this pattern. I should have watched this video again before I started. I made the pockets go all the way to the bottom hem before attaching the ruffle. 🤦♀️ I think it will work though. I do have to move the label. I sewed it in the pocket, but it needs to be on the front, not the side. Thanks for this great pattern!
Thanks so much 😊 I know this one isn't the most fashionable dress, but from what I see from my little one - they care much more about comfort AND bright colors, and twirling, too :) I hope girls will love it :) if you make it for yours - send me a picture :)
@@ThoughtfulCreativity exactly, I think it's perfect, especially if one gets some pretty fabric. Usually if the design of the pattern is too busy, the fabric should be simple. Well, in my opinion anyway 😊👍 I'll definitely sew this for the girls once I get some nice fabric. I don't have Facebook tho.
Even though Sewing is very intimidating to me but I really love your videos! You're so talented in dress making. Can you please show me how to draft this dress pattern step by step on a paper? I've been trying to make a rose red dress and a hoody cape for my daughter, and I've drafted the top part 3 times, but still don't seem to get it quite right😅😢. Many thanks!❤
I enjoy your channel so much. I sew for the older girls and would most appreciate a much larger version of this dress, with sleeves. Is there a chance that you could up size this pattern and add sleeves, please. I love this pattern but lack the skills to accomplish this. Perhaps this could be your 2024 contribution to Dress A Girl. I appreciate your giving your consideration to my request as well as all you have already done for this wonderful charity.
That's wonderful that you sew for the older girls, I'm hoping to do the same as time goes on too. I obviously can't speak for Alisa and I am new to her as well but she has mentioned a few times that she isn't a commercial pattern drafter which is why her patterns are always the size her little girl is currently in. Remember older girls although likely small framed have started to develop and may also want to dress for their age and not like the 5 year olds so this will influence the style and fit of the dresses we will need to make for them. Commercial patterns are really expensive here in Australia ( around $22 to $36 each ) but are currently on sale at Spotlight for 2 for $10 so I am purchasing a couple from there. If you search #projectdressagirl on RUclips some of the other creators have patterns for the older girls as well as recommendations & links on where to get both free ones and good bought ones. I hope this helps a little. *Edit, I watched a lot more videos for this project yesterday and several creators stated that the older girls were trying to find things to tie around themselves for a makeshift belt to give the dress more shape so I am definitely going to take this into account for the girls aged 12 to 16 when looking at patterns for them.
Hi Elisa! Almost that time of the year! Are you making a new pattern for this year? 😊 And another question… is cotton poplin a ok fabric to make dresses from? Thank you ☺️
Have some great fabrics to pull from my stash so am thrilled to get started with this project today. Would love to have information on how to grade this pattern for an older girl.
My dear Alysa. Please mention to your fans pressing or ironing a seam sets the seam. The thread bonds with the fabric and std the you did not mention it. You said give it a good press, which is good but there is another reason to press. Your fan Leslie
All of your little dresses look cool, comfortable, and so beautiful. I was thinking that I would love to have a dress with pockets like those. Are you going to make one for yourself? It would make a wonderful jumper dress for winter made from heavier fabric in a solid color.

Hi Maddie! That is a good tip, I do it when I have my bias tape from very lightweight fabric, so that folding it in half does not create extra bulk :)

Beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
