What a rough moment when you realized the 1 and the 2 were swapped around on the display after you heard a "hisss-pop".

Not only an excellent repair video, but so refreshing to hear one admit their mistake (in this case, some voltage dyslexia; something I would do) and not assign blame elsewhere. Paul, you continue to be my You Tube video hero...thank you! 73! de WX0V

Thank you! I use 21V for my mini grinder and I forgot to switch it back to 12V. I felt smoke when connected PSU to my radio, was too late to save it lol 😃👍

Good job! After the similar situation I dont trust stock protection from the manufacturers - even if it works, the pcb will burn. Try to put an additional non-simmetrical suppressor rated 15 V. Working great + gives the additional over polarity protection. Im using it in every my rig

Impresive repair. Great video. I wish the manufacturers would incorporate a bridge rectifier and a crowbar and fuse on the input, think of the radios that would have saved.

One thing I do because its happened to me is never power a radio from a lab bench PSU. I have a dedicated 50amp PSU for that. The other thing is I reset the lab supply to 0 volts when I finish for the day and if I am working with the lab supply always set to the least amps that will work, start low then move up untill the cct just works. All these are easy for me to remember now as had some hard learnt lessons. Great video and excellent service from both dealer and factory.

    I’m impressed
I’ve worked multiple times on my Xiegu X108G. Which is really a slightly better compact uBitx
Was all the troubleshooting temperature comparisons, or did you also do some regular troubleshooting with signal traces and voltage measurements?
    Also a comment….
In the good old days, fixing your radio was relatively simple but, if you weren’t careful, could kill your in an instant
That risk has gone, however, it’s not that simple anymore and repairing your radio now poses the real risk of slowly sending you mad !!! 😜

I'm very disappointed with my 6100. Mine won't transmit a signal on FT8. And now the receiver has gone dead completely. There is no signals, static, audio -- nothing.
I did the factory reset 4-5 times and it did nothing to help.
I'm thinking of sending it back to Radioddity and telling them just to keep it.
I'm wondering if they sent me a return radio when I bought it.
All of the settings were way off and It took me many hours to get it to function out of the box.

Absolutely send it back! If there was ever a clear justification for a warranty replacement, this is it. Radioddity will just send it back to Xiegu and send you a new one, costing them little to nothing.
It's kind of a disappointing radio on many levels, especially some of the software issues that I doubt will ever be fixed. I'm reasonably happy with mine, but only because it's a b-stock I bought VERY cheaply (about 1/2 price) from a dealer who happens to be my neighbor. At that price, I enjoy the radio...had I paid full tilt, I wouldn't be nearly as happy with the purchase!

Hi, Paul I also have problem with Xiegu, lack of schematic is huge problem, my radio had fauld after 15V and using FT8, tried to contact local suppliers to manage repair, but the stated me that they're not providing any aftermarket repair, and even if they had warranty return they're sending it to China.
