- Today i'm taking a look at Ninjala Story Pack: Chapter 1 on the Nintendo Switch. With the servers struggling I pulled out my credit card and dove straight into the monetization areas! Some will call me brave, some an idiot. Let's find out in our review!
Complete ninja missions to earn a host of special items!
Story Mode is a single-player mode that can be experienced offline.
Enjoy a tale of ninja intrigue told through dynamic graphic novel-style cut scenes and intense action sequences. In the action sequences, you'll track down and do battle with sinister space ninja along with other missions. The final stage features a thrilling battle against a giant robot that will test your ninja skills to the max!

The Ninjala Story Pack: Chapter One will give players the opportunity to earn exclusive rewards not obtainable anywhere else.
■ The Story
Van is a ninja-in-training, who spends his days carrying out the missions assigned to him by his master.
One day as he was going about his duties, he caught wind of a shocking kidnapping incident.
Convinced that it was the work of the dastardly space ninja, Van's master tasks him with the duty of rescuing the missing children and returning peace to the city.

I’m kind of disappointed that the story doesn’t follow the creators of ninja gum. There was such a cool cutscene, and I wish it could have been the story.
It probably will. We'll just have to wait and see
It’s one character per chapter, so it’ll probably follow the three creators of ninja gum when it gets to one of their chapters.
the sensai teased us a little bit with it read some of the end dialoug
You can play it completely offline, you just have to enable Airplane mode to get the game to let you in offline

You play the game itself offline? As in not the story offline?
I feel like you can’t really fight back a lot of times. If somebody starts to combo you (which doesn’t take much effort) you kind of have to sit there. You do have stamina to dodge attacks, but it runs out after 4 uses, which is just enough to fight 1 enemy, not 7

Hard mode really kicks it up a notch. Trying to take out one by one is so much harder now since all the enemies get a Mac HP boost! Do you recommend the same approach? I'm trying to use more wide attacks, but what I don't like is how there is no freedom to switch who you are attacking while in the middle of a combo. If I try landing three solid hits then I'm getting ganged up!
I agree with other comments. Hold your shield out to avoid those death combos. And if you do get caught in one you can jump out and hold shield. This takes no stamina. I am a top 100 team battle player so hope this helps you
This game isn’t my cup of tea but my brother absolutely loves it!
At least the core experience is free so it’s cheap to find out it’s not for you! I’m curious to see how long it keeps me hooked or if it will be short lived!

Thanks to you for an honest review of the story mode. Most people seem to be review bombing it just because of some server issues.
Server issues were always likely after the beta, that’s why I never released a video back then. They are a smaller studio that don’t necessarily have the funds available to them to have it perfectly in place especially with a day one demand. While it could be bad for them losing some audience from it I think over the next 24 hours we will see a decent leap in its reliability....at least I hope so!
@@SwitchCorner I'm mainly an online game player, like MMOs, so I already expect there to be server issues from time to time. Especially with the global pandemic going on right now, I feel like people need to be patient. It's a really fun game so far, and thanks to your positive review I just bought the story mode. I'm looking forward to playing through it.

@@SwitchCorner It seems like a good deal even for the full price, when you figure that a game like Splatoon 2 with it's DLC is $80.
Airplane mode is an option to access the story mode (after downloaded), even with the server issues.

I feel like you have 1/5th of a chance in a 1v1. Whoever strikes first has 4/5ths of the battle. All the rest lies in pure chance of you choosing the right buttons

SwitchCorner you can combo people tho
Put more focus on the Neutral, that is, spacing yourself and using an unpredictable approach to get the first strike, or forcing your opponent to use up all/most of their energy before you clash so that they don't have the energy to break your combo.
There is a system to it you can understand, it's not random, you dk have to go to their web page to read the tutorial on it though. I short, it's a rock paper scissors system.

Well now since it have 90% reduction on the chapter one, if you have some useless gold points ( idk is it the exact name i dont remember) use it to buy it if you really like ninjala
Unlike splatoon, the multiplayer seems like it was built off of the single player rather than the other way around. The games controls would definitely feel better fighting against ai than other users who could just bs your move by guessing right on rock paper scissors. I always thought splatoons single player was lack luster because id rather just play the multiplayer but ninjalas gameplay seems perfect for a single player hack and slash.
its not rlly only luck you need to do some mind games and also alot of ppl just spam the same attack soo.
Thanks for another enlightening & insightful review! I'm probably THE ABSOLUTE LAST PERSON who owns a Switch that has NEVER played one second of Splatoon 2--despite being told non-stop how great it is... So, it's equally baffling WHY Ninjala--a game that is constantly being compared to Splatoon--looks SO appealing to me! There's something about the Ninjala character designs that works slightly better for me than Splatoon... Plus, without question, the gameplay definitely seems more interesting than Splatoon. The big problem for me will be the monetization aspect of the game... If it ends up being like Asphalt 9 (an otherwise solid Switch title), constantly throwing upgrades & other ways to take real world money from me, then it'll be an easy pass! I guess I'll give it a go once the servers are sorted out.
How do you get all the rewards in the story mode?
I find that having your bubble gum out as a good shield for surprise attacks in multiplayer.

Perhaps I'll wait and hope for a more complete story and buy a "Complete Bundle" then. Something like the Octo Expansion. I am interested. Just need a bit more meat.

Yep, I think it looks great but it does seem a bit more of a button masher. I get the controls but either they are not very responsive or the hit zones and camera angles make it feel less tight than I would like and I don’t feel that my successes are down to me.
My issues are getting into eagle city on battle royal. Plus y’know server stuff. The game is fun! But ftp players don’t get very much on the battle tier experience compared to other games. Also I want the costumes advertised when you boot up the game? Any idea how to unlock those yet or do I have to purchase them at the shop?

I mean multiplayer is free so it’s absolutely worth a go! From there I’d judge this paid pack and if it’s worth your time! The servers are at least getting better and better

Enjoying it so far but it doesn’t feel like there’s much skill involved honestly more luck! But maybe that will come with time! So early on right now! What about you?
SwitchCorner it seems to me like the chain combo system is somewhat broken in the sense that you basically are guaranteed to die if you get caught in one. I do appreciate the attempt at the gimmick however.

Yeah it’s an add on, the multiplayer which is the core experience is free. Story is for those that wanna dive into the world

Yeahhh... I'm not buying the story pack. It feels like making you buy, say, a Call of Duty game, and then it makes you pay for the story mode in 1 hour chunks for $10 each. It's a side experience to a multiplayer focused game, and there's no reason to monetize it in separate pieces. I'd rather buy the entire story mode for one lump sum than in separate portions. However, everything else about Ninjala I absolutely love. It takes the majority of it's transactions from Fortnite, and Fortnite has a good monetization system, so it's a good thing for Ninjala to take from it.
You call of duty methaphor doesn't work buddy. Ninjala is free, they've gotta make their money somewhere. The players who wanna collect extra cosmetics will buy the campaign forsure

Played today for 4-5 hours, not my cup of tea. Bit too much of the same. The RNG isn't fun either. Good video though.
Thank you for the simple and brief review. Other Switch channels are talking too long about Frames per Second etc...got me bored, I just need to know whether it is a good game or not.
Appreciate it! Sometimes I focus on FPS etc but ninjala is not the game for that! It’s colorful, it’s fun, that’s really what matters here!
@@SwitchCorner It is good to talk about FPS briefly but personally I just need to know whether it runs passable/playable or not coz honestly who is purchasing a Switch and has high expectation for these numbers.
I love ninjala and it’s fast pace action, but the single player for me was horrible.... it felt really slow, dragging, and more 😞

Love the look of this, going to download it and wait for the servers to stabilize a little before jumping in. Great review as always.
Slightly disappointed that this has launched with such problems and what appears to be a preponderance to rely on monetisation. The cynic in me thinks they have released the game as ‘free’ with some IAPs to raise revenue. I sincerely hope that this is not the case. I would prefer to pay once and even pay for season’s or chapters so long as there will be a good amount of content. However, paying to levelup and cosmetics are the very worst part of modern gaming. Let’s see how it plays out.
I’m ok with cosmetics I’m just not ok when they move into pay to win territory! Cosmetics to me it’s a way to support without getting an advantage and I think that’s about the best you can get but pay to win is the worst! I did notice you can level up I think it somewhere close to 75 or so bucks to get level 100 out the gate but I’m still working out how it works and what you actually get other than the number and if it would be pay to win but I didn’t want to guess. The thing I don’t like is the menus it seems awkward and explains very little! I’m hopeful with this one though I’ve enjoyed what I’ve played so far and I think it could become a go to for pick up and play moments. I don’t think will spend hours in it though it all feels a little luck based to actually incorporate skill at a high level which is what I tend to look for in online play. My main go to is realm royals and paladins on the switch and then I do play escape from tarkov on my PC, literally the only PC game I play! That’s my escape at the end of the day before it drives me insane! I still keep going back tho
As a parent, IAP for Cosmetics is a nightmare. The next must have skin, weapon etc. It’s like dressing up a doll and having a dolls house. I just say no to almost all my kids requests but I do get that they feel the need to be in with the “in-crowd”. I just feel that the Publishers are guilty of manipulating this situation. #herelookibgatyouEpicGames #Fortnite.

Haven’t been able to play the game at all because I preordered it so the e shop page says “purchased” and won’t let me download it.
That's not how you install games 🤦♂️

People seem not get the specifics of my problem. about a month before the game was released I hit the preorder button on the e shop (no logo appeared on my home screen), the day the game was released I started up the switch and it was still not there (I had assumed that since I had preordered the game that it would automatically download once the software was available). I went to the e shop and the button that would ususally say purchase if not purchased and download if not on the device was greyed out and said "purchased" and I had no way of interacting with it. I tried buying the story mode with my nintendo coins and that made a Ninjala logo appear on my home screen, when I select this logo it sends me to the e shop again which still says "purchased" so its no help. the game itself has never actually been downloaded to my device so there is no evidence of it in the data settings.

Honestly its quite confusing for me its such a paced game with way yo many controls especially online, but other than that its quite hard i cant imagine what it would be like for a new player in a few months when everyone is better than you. I absolutely love the designs so much though they are so original :)

@@knoxsill nope trying to get all gold but not sure how to get gold on episode3.. I dont lose health and i finish it quick but get silver every time :( do you have all gold on normal?
@@ozzymarley1010 nope I have silver on 3 and 4 and I just completed hard mode I didn't get the backpack or cap on there, guessing u need gold on all the missions.

this game looked like it had potential, cute and colorful like splatoon
but its a disappointment, the combat is non-sense and garbage ...and a good way to get joy-con drift as fast as possible
the UI is cluttered and horrible, screams mobile game

...payed single player campaign
bruh its only the start dont expect nothing good lmao.
The controls reminds me a lot of KH3, which for a multiplayer experience where people spend real money sounds like suicide to me.
I never thought I'd say I hate a game more than fortnite, but hey anything can happen and here comes ninjala, the worst switch game to release in all of its lifetime
