  • Been a while since I have done a product review and it is about time I reviewed these binoculars. These are the Vortex Optics Diamondbacks. My friend Joe at Sportsman's Warehouse in Rohnert Park California talked me into buying these and man am I glad he did.

    Just bought some diamandback binos today. Love it. Very impressive compact binos. Wasn't sure how all the features worked on them until I watched your video. Thanks for sharing.

    And actually, it is better if you do not close your one eye when trying to set in the binos. For setting in the left eye, put the lens cap over the right, for setting in the right eye, put the lens cap over the left. If instead you close your eye.... you tend to squint and it actually makes focusing a little less accurate. FWIW

    I have these. Great binoculars! Between gift certificates and end of year close out sales at Cabela's I ended up paying about 40 bucks. Pretty happy with that deal. You cannot beat Vortex! Warranty is second to none. Good review!

    Old review but just found it and helped me decide to order the diamondbacks today. I use binocs a lot out in barstow area when I’m out there shooting/exploring/camping. The terrain is basically the same as this. . 👍🏻

    Got my VD 10x42 HD version today. I can spot some red/green CA if the object isn't in dead center of the view. Other then that I'm totally amazed by the sharpness, brightness, contrast and natural colors. It's a dream to use these binoculars and I'll have them in my car always at a reach distance from driver's position.

    I just bought a pair of Diamondback 10x42 HDs today. I haven't had much chance to test them yet but the little I used them looking around my neighborhood in early evening and near darkness, I was very impressed. The clarity and apparent quality are great.

    Thanks for the video. I just bought a pair. Haven’t even received them yet. I wanted to say, you mentioned if something happened to them you’d buy them again. Vortex has the best warranty I’ve ever seen. Just wanted to let you know there’s no need to purchase them again if something (anything) ever happened to them. Pay $8 for shipping and you’ll have them back fixed or replaced in a couple weeks. Can’t go wrong with Vortex.

      Buck Harvest how'd you like them? I considered getting the HD. But then realized if i'm going to be paying that much for binoculors, then i'm going to buy night vision goggles lol.
      However it's prob a good thing I haven't had the chance to check out HD binoculors bc then I would potentially buy them. I basically don't know much about binoculors and choose this Diamondback model after watching about 20mins ot RUclips vids lol

    This video is exactly what I wanted to hear. I have two diamondback hd scopes for my rifles and they are awesome. I keep going back and forth between vipers, diamondbacks, and crossfire. Honestly, your review finally provided clarity to what I was looking for in a review. Vipers allow more low light in and are lighter but are the crossfires better than the diamondbacks from a price point? I’m thinking diamondbacks are good for me at the price point. That’s all people want. Is the price point worth what I’m getting? Great video. I’m hunting, scouting, and shoot bow in some low light conditions but I’m buying 10x50. This should fix any low light issues. Any thoughts? Should I just get the crossfires or are the diamondbacks worth the extra money? Thanks for the great video!

    • @DetourswithFrank
      @DetourswithFrank  5 лет назад +1

      I am not familiar with the crossfires, so I can not honestly answer that. Do I think the DB's are worth their money? Absolutely. Enjoy.

    Definitely buy the cheaper pair. Not worth the see top up price for sure. Diamondbacks are better. Christal clear. 🙂🙂🙂
    Will be buying these next.
    Jst bought the 18x56 Kaibabs.

    I bought a pair of these binoculars the vortex binoculars they fell out of my dining room chair of a height less than 2 feet they are now no good and I fell onto a linoleum floor not a hard floor not a great height warranty is good but not if you have to keep sending them back over the slightest bump I also had and still have a pair of 20 x 50 Pentax binoculars twice as heavy and they have fallen several times from place that height and they still work great and they actually cost less

    Hi. I wanted to buy binocular for traveling, supervision, bird wathing, but I can't choose model. My budget 150-200$. Now i watch 2 brands. Nikon and Vortex. So, my questions: 1. Nikon Prosstaf 7S or Vortex Diamondback?
    2. Sizes and magnification,
    8×42, 8×50, 10×42, 10×50 which one the better?

    • @DetourswithFrank
      @DetourswithFrank  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for the question, but I am not an expert on the subject and have no experience with the Nikon binos. I will tell you this, what I have seen in the Nikon Prostaff scopes, I would always choose Vortex over them. That and Vortex's awesome warranty. I personally would not buy anything less than 10x42.

    Nice review. Very detailed. But I'm amazed there is any wildlife left in the USA. It seems everyone is a hunter.

    • @DetourswithFrank
      @DetourswithFrank  2 года назад

      Hey Les. Thanks for the comment. When properly managed, wildlife populations can, and do, thrive with hunting. Idaho is one of the states that manages their wildlife populations quite well. It's easy to get caught up in the uneducated conversations that lean toward "hunting constantly depletes".

      @@DetourswithFrank Hi Frank, I'm in the UK which is a different world as far as gun ownership goes. Very few people have guns you could hunt with. Shotguns are a bit more common. I am ignorant of how hunting is controlled in the USA but in watching RUclips videos I get the impression anyone can decide to go hunting on the weekend (perhaps that's wrong). In looking at binoccular reviews I was struck by how many reviewers were hunters.

  • @eddielombera5862
    @eddielombera5862 4 года назад +1

    I guess from what I’m reading is people who pay the extra 250 or so for the vipers are saying the advantage is in low light conditions. But as someone who has 20/15 vision, I’m ok with these. Definitely an improvement over my old Bushnell. I think people who spend 1500+ and up on Bino’s are crazy lol for that price I’m expecting them to kill the deer for me.

    • @DetourswithFrank
      @DetourswithFrank  4 года назад +1

      I couldn't agree more. I will say, as of this fall, I have glassed some coyote in very low light conditions (too dark to hunt) and have been very happy with that performance as well.

      @Christopher, l have a pair of Diamondbacks in 8x42 and 10x50. I don't have the same issue that you have and niether does my 21 yr old son. However, my 24 yr old son has the same issue as you. My guess would be not all binoculars fit everone perfect. Each manufacturer has slightly different specifications they have to meet. Going to Cabelas tomorrow to see if theres a discernable difference in my view.

      Detours with Frank have you tried also other brands of binoculars? I am considering Vortex Diamondback 10x50, Fomei Leader 8x56 and Delta Optical Forest II 8,5x50. I need them for low light conditions in the forest and don't know which one to choose...I don't wanna spend too much money on binoculars, but don't wanna buy inadequate either.
