I have a P30 new V3 Compact 9mm. I have two CZ 75’s full size and Compact and while the CZ triggers are more to my liking as to reset on single action, once I got used to the HK P30 trigger on reset single action it is very dependable and consistent in determining when the pistol fires. HK makes world class firearms. They are “Get Home Firearms”
Thanks for the video. The longer reset works for my shooting style, I find I naturally anticipate the reset at the "out of the box" distance, as opposed to being shorter. It also allows me to get follow up sight acquisition quicker, resulting in better shot placement. Be safe out there!
I personally like the longer travel reset and trigger break. Prevents accidental discharging, allows time to reacquire target after muzzle rise, just takes some practice, but having been a rifleman for many years, this trigger has a familiar feel.
Fred has been my gunsmith for years, so it was great to hear that he worked on your trigger as well. I enjoy your thorough reviews on products, do keep it up! Subscribed!
David Do I second this. Fred has done work on my firearms and his work and improvements to all platforms is noticeable. Always worth the drive to Burien.
Just got a P30. I put a Grey Guns short reset in it, lighter hammer spring, and nickel polish sear spring before even firing for the first time. Coming from a Cajinized CZ P01, I have no complaints about it. Trigger feels much better then stock, feels great in the hand, ultra reliable, and it's 2 oz lighter then the CZ P01 while being able to hold 17 rounds. Both fantastic guns, but I like knowing I got some extra arounds with the p30.
@@devinnulph7933 I do conceal carry it. The p30 weighs just about the same with the 4 extra rounds that it hold over the P01, with 17 rounds. The lengths are near the same, and the grip on the P30 is maybe half an inch longer. I'm a bit of a bigger guy so it's not an issue at all for me to carry either of them. If you are concerned about concealment, check out the P30SK. Its the Subcompact version of the P30. It's comparable to the Glock G26. It comes with 10 and 13 round mags, will take Normal P30 mags and VP9 mags. It weights a little more than the g26, but nothing crazy and it handles recoil very well. Many people says just as well as the full size. Another great big little subcompact is the Berretta PX4 Storm subcompact. Holds 13 rounds flush fit, and can use the full size 17 round mags. It's another great and ultra reliable subcompact that isn't going too be super snappy.
I like that you review firearms comprehensively and give educated opinions. You really lost me with the comment about the trigger travel and break though when you stated "you had a problem with the trigger travel in a combat firearm like this". I have to tell you, a "Combat Firearm" is just for that- COMBAT. There isn't much snobbery going on in a battlefield and frankly marksmanship with a pistol in an actual combat situation is not going to be calm, cool and collected, its most likely going to be an adrenaline-fueled pew fest. If you get to the point of needing a sidearm in combat its going to be shooting fast and hard at a target trying to KILL it. All the IDPA stuff is out the window and its pure survival at that point. So I take issue with you stating that trigger break and travel is some sort of factor in "combat" or for that matter Law Enforcement. It all comes down to speed fundamentals and volume of fire in combat. You can keep the finer points of snobbery for the after action range beer talks.............
Send it to Gray Guns and they will do a fantastic job an the trigger, it's a little pricey but if this is a gun you are going to keep, train with and carry its worth every penny!
I don't see how sending a deficient trigger into a competent gunsmith for help and then getting back a great result would necessitate "eating humble pie", not unless you were predicting that he would fail, which I didn't see in the first segment.... Odd choice of words is all.
***** I didn't say the P30 sk was a full size. I know what it is. I said that if I was going to get an H&K fullsize it would be the USP. But I also want a P30sk. You can use the P2000sk mags with the extension so you can get the pinky on the mag.
I know all about the P30 and trigger...........tell me about that killer jacket you got! This video is years old, but is that jacket still made and available?
I have the HK P30 V3 9MM & HK USP 45 ASCP and also own CZ’s 75 SP01 Tactical & 75D PCR Compact. I have grown accustomed to the standard trigger on the P30 & USP 45ACP. I have NO problem nailing the bulls eye with both pistols. As you probably know, and I hope that you do, the CZ’s have an excellent trigger. DO NOT NEED THE UPGRADE
Really consider the P30, trying to decide how to go about it, considering the compact, though if I can I'm open to getting hte long for competition (unless it's too long lol, then Glock 34 is really high on my list in that arena, carry a 19 and 26, smith 442, SIG SP2022 which is kinda a brother to this P30 in many ways, polymer framed DA/SA, seen both at really cheap prices for what they are, etc. Of course the HK P30 is being VS'd against a P229, not hte SP2022, though i am testing the P30 and 229 against the 2022 because they should give me a noticiable "ooooh!...aaaaaah!!!" since they are so much pricier.
Joe Cannabyte I have the p30l and ultimately would not recommend it for competition. I emailed Fred about the trigger job, and would put me at $1200+ invested for the gun; I've shot much better options for that cost. Others have shot my p30 and proved it's very accurate, but I simply suck with it. I kinda wish I got the vp9 for half the cost (and not much of a downgrade in terms of crisp trigger imo). Also I would go all out ant get at least a 5" barrel for better sight radius if shooting competitive. Just my .02
I agree, I wound up going with a SIG P220 .45 acp and am installing the SRT trigger for competition. I got the P30 SK v3 for daily carry. Having seen combat myself I personally really like the...I forgot what H&K calls it but the "combat X trigger system" (I think? shoulda done my research before posting) but how I look at it as an almost "lem-style SA" system. I have really great follow-ups with it and feel comfortable with my fiance and my father (also a veteran but older and his firearms skills have rusted over the years, he's also used to the 1911 being a Vietnam vet) Anyway, I plan on getting the P30L and...honestly if you are interested in selling the P30L contact me at theboxingcannabyte@gmail.com and just remind me of our youtube convo...maybe we can work out a trade (I personally love the VP9)...I presume your P30L is in a V3? If not it's okay, I am very interested in the LEM. I operated with everything from the M9 to the Glock 19 to, when the job changed, I opted to get an H&K Mark 23 SOCOM .45 acp tactical and that is something I'd consider, though now for high end competition I'm looking at the SIG SAUER X-SIX or a Pardini GP-9 which I hear nothing but good things about. On the lower end a SIG P220 Match Grade Elite, SIG P226 (in a match variant but DA/SA SRT), Beretta M9A3, I'd consider a CZ but I shoot the SIG and Beretta's like they are an extension of my hand and considering my right eye issues it's what i need. polymer I think I'd only consider the Glock 34, Smith and WEsson M&P Performance Center (I got the Shield in PC for my fiance), and of course an H&K with a match trigger/bill springfield job. There's a guy named T-Rex who operates a Glock 19-17-34 with a 7.7lb (I believe) trigger pull and is a match grade shooter, very quick, and I am wondering if a V4.1 LEM would be good for that...all I know is I want to try it. I hear they are better than the SIG DAK system and I enjoyed my SIG DAK 239 .40 that I got to try.
I'd like to know what that trigger job cost. The pistol is itself depending on caliber is pretty much a $1000 dollar gun. To have to spend another $300 for a trigger job IMO is a slap in the face. I think you would be better off buying a nice sig with an SRT trigger and being done with it.
No, we've been pretty busy with other projects to return to this one. If I can break free from some other projects, I'll come back on it, but definitely not before SHOT.
I don't understand why it is so hard for the Germans do put out a decent trigger. I had a USP Tactical 45 with their supposedly "match" trigger, and it was absolute dog shit. Even HK's match triggers feel like dragging a cinder block across gravel with your finger. I have been looking at the P30 and it feels so nice in the hands, but I can't get over spending $1000 on a polymer frame handgun just so I can spend more money on upgraded controls and a trigger job, just so my trigger at least compares favorably to a friggin Glock. And why? So I can drink HK Kool Aid with a bunch of fan boys that only shoot guns on Rainbow Six?
My mind set is one mind may weapon adapt adjust and engage I don't jump out of helicopter or kick down door CQB stuff but I shoot what ever the wife afford me the green flag to buy. The P30 with a factory LEM trigger Model is the way to go.
sootch00, great to hear from you. Yes, I've shot the LEM as well, it's definitely superior to this. Thanks for stopping by, I love your work.
LEM... defeating the purpose of a hammer fired pistol... might as well go with a VP9
9mmparadox Seeing as the MAIN purpose is the 2nd strike capability not really.
2nd strike capability is SEVERELY overrated... tap... rack... BANG...
And I say this as non-striker fire fan. Hammer fired sidearms are my preference.
9mmparadox doesn't change the fact that it is the main purpose for many choosing hammer over striker
Excuse me, you DON'T like the trigger? The P30 has a perfect trigger. Possibly you shot too many Glocks.
I concur
I have no issues with the standard DA/SA trigger pull of my HK's whatsoever! This dude man! Lol!
You have to admit the reset sucks ..
Best gun period.deal w it..hnk that is.trigger is perfectly fine..
This guy would put knobby tires on a porsche ! And ketchup on Prime Rib.
give the Steyr C9-A1 gen 3 a try. You'll fall in love with it.

HK is perfect out of the box , its the shooter , a good shooter shoots everyting well,
A longer reset can give your better triggercontrol and maybe prevent you from stress fire and unwanted fire.
Gieszkanne honestly i have a v1 p30 and a p30sk v3, you are correct on this. I would not cc a v1, even though i love the v1

Nice video. I had the same feeling in the shooting range with the trigger during a double tap.
Thx for the info (nice brown jacket btw Mr.Tran)

Ouep, c'est notre nouvelle arme de service.

Does anyone know where can someone obtain that hoodie?
Hey WhatJustHappened?, I'm wearing a budget Condor Hooded Fleece Jacket in the followup clip there.
www.condoroutdoor.com/605sierra_hooded_fleece_jacket.aspx
Cool jacket
I thought the v3 was decocker only
What springs did you replace to get the DA to 8# and the SA to 4#?
So where can I find the hoodie from the first clip
Triggers and Re-set, much ado about nothing!
How much did that service cost? I'm looking at their website and I don't see the specific service listed. Thanks for video.
Best bet is to call them direct for pricing.
As of 2016, has the trigger been improved at all? I love the feel of this gun but the trigger is the only thing stopping me from buying it right now.

No offense but trigger snobs! But i guess everyone is different and you like what you like still great review thanks.
USE LEM TRIGGER
