I'm so uncertain as to what caster to level up.
As a Whitemage main my last two picks to level made sense for my character. Paladin, Monk.
But Caster... it's like Red Mage (Which is my favorite job in other FF games - I've hated it since I got it pre-patch in Stormblood and put one level on it) just feels like Black Mage with a dash in and out, you can move around with that has a res and jank melee combo duct'd tape onto it.
Black Mage seems fun but like not something I'd feel confident using in content I don't know. (plus the lack of parity among level brackets is concerning)
Summoner I like but it's been so gutted to an infantile easy state that I'm afraid if that was my caster dps people would secretly mock me for playing the easy job.

As a black mage main: the skill ceiling is approximately as high as the average black mage main's ego. Allow me to introduce you to the concept of non-standard lines, which is where you say 'fuck the basic rotation, we're offroading this bitch' and abuse transpose, paradox, and non-elemental spells to trick the game into thinking you really can be assed to cast ice spells without actually compromising on the EARTH SHATTERING KABOOMS.
Sadly, they're doing their best to murder those in Dawntrail, but I have faith in the optimizers.
Tbf though u like the idea of having set mana gains from ice , there is nothing I hate more then feeling like I need to cast another blizzard because the passive regen hasn't quite put me at 100 yet
It is definitely fair to say that 'you need to download a mana-tick tracker to optimize this class' is a terrible statement to have to make. Which is why I can't be too upset, even if I'll miss non-standard as it currently exists. It was fun having a class that I didn't have a very fixed rotation to play.
Yeah and as someone who hates the idea of any job requiring an add on to remove jank it was a pet peeve of mine. Atleast now knowing the mana value of each blizzard cast means youll be able to essentially perfectly time your transition back to fire at 100% mana
Ooft, I got everything to lvl90 (rip lvl80 Blue Mage) and all I got was a stupid hat... which for a Viera is something, but when the all lvl80 achievement is a mount, you can't help but want more.

Anyways your not wrong the moment you lvl black mage the greed and power you feel is real...like the dark side of the force but it actually is more powerful than white magic and if anyone disagrees well congrats they in flare casting range. And that boy is shift cast primed.

Hey im not gunna complain that picto is over performing it was my dream job , a job i predicted before anyone else and a job ive loved since i played ff6 however what i will say is dont turn over to much, this happens with the new jobs every expansion theyll be nerfed inline with everyone else shortly im sure
@@MythSamaelFFXIV I think picto would sit very well above summoner and red mage due to those classing having a heal and res and picto not, but slightly behind blm due to having raid utility in the form of a speed buff and shield, if I'm being honest depending on how hard it is to play picto, they'll still probably out perform a lot of blm players since a lot don't know how to properly play their class.

All I remember is a kitten.
But for real, after finally leveling my BLM to 80+ (it's almost 90, I'll finish soon enough, shut up!), I finally understand why so many BLM players just sit in the aoe. Because by the time you realize you HAVE to move, the decision has been made for you, and none of those other assholes are staying close enough to you for the easy teleport option. "Eh, I can take it."
BLM is the epitome of "fuck around and find out" and not in a good way.
