I love your use of these old books. My mother was a librarian and she would rescue the ones that would be destroyed. She would celebrate any creative endeavor. She wanted us to respect new ones of course, but the adoring of old paper awww was the bird song here. She hoped we caught a few lines of sentences here and there. When I went to college at the age of 48, my prof said I was a walking Encyclopedia. Lol. On another note: say a video of a Russian girl who refurbished a cabin in the woods. She "wallpapere"d the bedroom walls with old bookpages. Then from another old rescued book she found of floral paintings, she cut 30 of them and placed them five across in five levels on one eall. With an old lace curtain and cover let the room was gorgeous! Just as your journal is. So much for the nay sayers!!!
Natasha you are so intelligent, clever, brave, and inspirational, I am very proud of you. I lost my husband a year ago, and I started to watch your videos and I am inspired to start a new journey because of you. Don't let negativepeople distracted you from continuing your wonderful journey. Love Delfina
What I really connected with on this tutorial were your comments about being overwhelmed at times with so many creative thoughts that I become stuck in inaction. Through your gentle instruction from a simple tag to a pocket and a reminder that perfection is not the purpose here, something beautiful blossoms. It is a practice of letting go for some of us. In this our tempeents are very much alike. Time to jump in and make a simple tag. ❤
Besides learning so much from your videos, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE how totally unapologetic you are about how you do things. We ALL need to feel this way about our art.
So true about being so overwhelmed with possible ideas, I feel the same! Sometimes I sit down and can't decide what to do first so I end up doing nothing! Also, I love how you say "we're not striving for perfection". YES! I love this. Once again, I am so inspired by your video 😊
Yes I relate to that comment about being stuck! I have been watching videos and bought new stuff and looked at my old stuff. Yet I am stalled. Idk if it’s because I want it perfect, it’s funny it’s like I’m frozen! Yet I am thinking this is exactly what I have been looking for asa way to use my creativity!
oh my goodness you read my mind about the flower video I was just going to see if you had one and you asked the question to make one. I like your channel already thank you. Yes the flower video is MUST! TFS I will subscribe and keep watching.
Thank you for sharing your journal entry session. I never thought I would want to journal daily, because I have never kept a diary or planner ever, but junk journals, mini sized, no larger than 3.5 x 4.5 inches, is the perfect format for me to collect and record thoughts, observations, images and any ephemera that cross my desk. Yesterday, was the label from my favorite mints, the other day was a McDonald ice cream cone wrapper since that's my 'go to' treat, a spent movie gift card. As you mentioned, this does help to break creative mental blocks. The challenge of packing in a lot in such a tiny space is what starts the creative process for me. I love the string bow attached to the staple on your tag, so I borrowed that idea in my journal a few minutes ago!! It looks so homespun. I also like the torn raggedy page edges in a journal, and not all stacked evenly too. Maybe my imagination, but each page seems to stand out more, especially after it's been decorated. I pause rather than flip through quickly when each page is not the same. I would love to see your method of flower making from magazine pages. I've done some myself, and wonder how many other ways to make them. Yes, I too worry about my work holding up for generations. Sounds self important, but that's another reason I craft and journal. To pass along a piece of myself to a future I will never see (RIP Senator Elijah Cummings). We all have something special that needs to be shared.
Thank you so much. And I totally agree, it does sound self important, BUT I would love a piece of me to stay around for many generations. Not because I feel that I am important or interesting, but because I would LOVE AND CHERISH SO MUCH if I had something of my grandmothers/ greatgrandmothers!! Completely different lifetimes - I would love to be able to peek into their daily lives and thoughts!!!
Senator Cummings quote is, "Our children are the living messages we send to a future we will never see". (Per Google) I love his quote so much, and thought, my craft work is like my children. (To clarify reference to Senator Cummings in my reply.) I cherish everything my ancestors have made, and just wish they had dated and signed their names. My husband's grandmother made a potholder but because she did not date/sign it, all I have is my memory to tell my children that great grandma made this. But who would think to date and sign everything they make, I do lol. I date and sign my utility blankets because they are my message to a future I will never see.
I’m a book lover and an avid reader. Not every book needs to stay in its original form for eternity. You are reusing and upcycling, that’s a good thing. I love the page marker piece you made with red heart, red ribbon, lined and book page.
YES! Tutorial showing the flowers! I figured out some things by looking closely as you showed them, but I think I like the way you talk as you demonstrate what you are doing, as much as the process. I do not do what you do, but I have been watching for awhile, and, I am being reminded of activities and supplies that I have done in the past. When you showed your box of paper flowers, and I could have enjoyed watching to show them one at a time. I took a small break and wondered: Why in the world did I want her to show her flowers more slowly. I think that I realized while pondering that you see possibilities in so many things (as do I) ... we cannot be the only people on the planet who feel better when we are looking at many possibilities that have become useful and a bit of celebration that one more thing continues to be useful and brings joy to others who look and see.
Your tutorial was so inspirational. Thank you. I would love to see a tutorial on those delicious flowers. I agree with you about people becoming alarmed over the tearing out of book pages, but even the large charities have them shredded as the paper is too fragile or the public no longer want them.💐
Your journal sessions always bring joy to my heart and inspire me! I especially appreciate you being honest about your inner thoughts of hesitancy or being in a rut - and taking little steps toward being bold and creative. That helps me a whole lot! I would love a video on the flowers! Thanks for always inspiring us!
it s so beautifull Natasa, i like very much the flowers, oui ,oui for a tutorial, so i like too yours box , pockets with a lot of treasures!!!!!!! thank you very much
Love what you are doing. I’ve been crocheting a lot for Christmas gifts and I’m itching to get back to making and writing in journals. I have put it off because I’m still crocheting gifts. But....you said you come in your studio and try to create or write for only about 10 minutes. That surely is doable for me. So...you have inspired me! Thank you.
So amazing! Thank you for sharing your talents and ideas. It all turned out great! I love the quote you used and your addition to it, the stitches look fabulous, and I just love your collection of flowers. And yes, I totally agree with you about feeling free to use those old books. I have worked in libraries for 18 years, and we get so many donations. Plus, when books haven't been checked out for several years, we need to let them go. You are a wonderful artist and very inspiring. Thank you! ❤️
It is important to create. We all have the need in us to. If it be art, song, writing, crafts of any kind, fashion, architecture, or instruction, repair, restoration. There is no limit. I am inspired. You go and you make it happen.
I absolutely love what you've done with this page. It's like Pandora's box, you started with a magazine page and now you've got so much more and so pretty too. Beautiful and once again totally inspiring, thank you so much x
I loved what you did in this tutorial. You inspire me so much ❤ Thank you for being simple and real, telling us to accept that everything doesn't have to be perfect, which will help me in my journey of crafting!
This was such a joy to watch! I just started junk journaling and I've been watching a lot of your videos. I love how you just try things out and just let go and be creative and see where it takes you. So it's not just your techniques that are great to watch but your philosophy as well.
As a novice to junk journaling, I am inspired to get to work with the junk I have on hand and make something pretty with it like you have or try to....Thank you for the tutorial....
I have loved watching your tutorials during this lockdown. I have made a few used envelope junk journals and am inspired to do more. I have never used a junk journal and worry that I won't know what to put in them but they are so addictive!
Thank you for all of your inspiration on all of your videos. You have given me so many ideas for making my journals. I would love to see a tutorial on those beautiful flowers.
I remember watching you construct this journal. Late on this and so glad to see how gorgeous it is coming along. Love this flip page and I do feel inspired.
Love this!!! And you ALWAYS inspire me, Natasa! Also, yes pleeeze on the flower tutorial! You are so wonderful to watch! Always look forward to your videos!! Big crafty hugs sweet friend 💖 Suzy xx
This was so delightful! I know this video is 2 years old but I would love more “journal with me” sessions. I love hearing & watching your creative process🥰
You are so inspirational. Thank you for the words. You are so creative. I enjoy watching your videos. I keep getting more Ideas for my grandsons journal. I am going to use them in my grandsons journal I am making for him. He will soon be on his own path. I love the book making kit. Thank You. Yes, a tutorial on the flower you showed would be great.

Love all your designs and always get inspiration from you. I used to be unable to rip up books. But having had to clear out my mum's huge collection there was only so many I had room for or could take to the charity shop. So I'm now using some for altered books and junk journals and I like that I'm keeping some of her stuff and think of her when I use them. Tfs x
For me, tearing up old paperback had to come in stages. First, I stamped on them. Next, I wiped extra paint off on them. Sometimes I sprayed ink on them. When the pages started looking more like art I could let tnem go. Eventually I began tearing pieces off to use in journals.
