- With all the lockdowns, travel restrictions and general urge to game, Solo games can be the solution.
In the first game Baridoc Kingsson will be attempting to drive off goblin raiders and make some new friends.
Oathmark is a mass-battle miniature wargame that puts you in command of a fantasy army made up of Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Goblins and the Undead. Create your own Kingdom and forge it's destiny.
Here's the Intro on the AI I'll be using: • Oathmark Solo Narrativ...
Campaign overview document: docs.google.co...
In the wake of Moxis…being Moxis (being intentionally vague for spoilers), I am once again coming back to where it all started, and binging this entire series from the beginning.
Oathmark is truly my first tabletop game I’ve fallen down the proverbial rabbit hole for. Though I technically owned Elder Scrolls Call to Arms before Oathmark, this game was truly my deep dive into the hobby.
And it was these videos that taught me the game, Chris. You truly helped me get into this hobby. Sincerely, thank you for all your work.
Mate! That's really awesome to hear and you are most welcome. I'm glad you've got so much from them!
So how many armies have you got together now!? 😛😄
And Moxis being Moxis... if you know, you know and no more need be said!😅
Yes me too! I watched that Episode and ended up here. Those Darn bees!
Not the bees!
This looks very interesting, thank you for posting it.
Also, I know I've said it previously, but the foam tile battlefield really does look great.
No worries, it's only going to get more interesting as it progresses! (I hope!)
Cool map! First time seeing Oathmark in play, I’ll have to get hold of the rules this looks fun!
Cheers Peyton! It's a really good game, lot's of fun!
Those were some "Ride or Die" Gobos.
Perhaps it was better to die in battle than explain to the boss why you ran away!
Very nice combination of atsmospheric video editing, nice terrain, well painted minis. I like this channel!
Cheers Matt! I'm pleased you are enjoying the videos!
Cool stuff, all things considered those were some badass goblins.
Yeah, when they want to hit hard, they sure can!
awesome battle report =) Really liking your solo campaign. Cheers!
Cheers! I'm glad you are enjoying it!
This is really cool! looking forward to the next installments!
Cheers! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
36:19 I think there were some more disadvantages and advantages you could have found haha
Ha! I'm sure there were.
I gave up on this system in the end. It was just quicker and easier to play both sides!
Congrats for the great work! I apreciate the effort, and use your video to learn how to play Oathmark. Thanks a lot! Keep watching your solo campaign ;)
Cheers Xavi! I hope you're getting some games in!
I never though of using my kids floor tile! They are sitting in the garage waiting for us to throw them away :\
New weekend project :D
Score! Good luck with them!
I did a video on how I made them, aaaages ago, if you wanted to see how I went about it: ruclips.net/video/TCcxZPk-Dp4/видео.html
@@AshandStoneNZ oh awesome! Will check it out
Do you have a video about the wooden stockade? Would love to see how you went about making that!
I used the video from Landvaettr's Lair as inspiration for making mine. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/RpynSAbkWpU/видео.html
The biggest difference in the paint job is that I used black and brown washes to stain the wooden parts and add a bit of variation to it rather than just using a single brown base coat.
The tokens you use ( activated,...)look great !
Cheers Eric!
If you would like some, and have access to a 3D printer, you can grab the files for free here: www.wargaming3d.com/product/activated-and-disordered-basic-tokens/
@@AshandStoneNZ cheers man ! Besides your measuring tool also looks fantastic !!!
Well, unfortunately I haven't put that one up... yet!
@@AshandStoneNZ you've made my day anyway 👍
It took far, far too long.... but the files for the ruler are available, for a buck, here: www.wargaming3d.com/product/folding-12-and-60-ruler/
Love this! Can we get the videos to be a little bit louder? It’s very hard to hear without headphones :)
Thanks Chris. And thanks for the feedback, I'll keep playing with my audio!
What timber fort is that? Did you build it yourself?
It's scratch built. I used the video from Landvaettr's Lair as inspiration. You can find it here: ruclips.net/video/RpynSAbkWpU/видео.html
That was a very fun watch and a really well put together video.
The game itself looks nice, but I just find the idea of these troops, particularly goblins and orcs, advancing in ranks and wheeling and pivoting like modern soldiers on a parade ground, a bit ridiculous! It's the main reason I prefer Lion/Dragon Rampant for fantasy and medieval battles.
Cheers Gabriel, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
It's a really good game, so if you get a chance to have a go, I thoroughly recommend it. Yes, the Goblins standing shoulder to shoulder in lines is a little far fetched. Though a little creativity with your basing and movement trays could go a long way toward making them look a little more disorganised, without impacting gameplay. And what's a rank n' flank game without the rank!?😄
(Newbie, asking to try to figure out whether I understand the rules, not to nitpick) At 18:50, are you interpreting "open ground to either side of the obstacle" as meaning "to at least one side?" When I initially read it, I interpreted it as "on both sides," but perhaps that was not what was intended.
Hey, no worries! Not exactly. I interpret that as being either side of the obstacle, front and back. For example, one side of a wall or the other. Not either side of the unit as it moves.
So, your unit comes across a tall stone wall, with an open gateway in the center, in the middle of an otherwise open field. As long as the officer can move though the open gateway, and the unit has enough movement to make it to the other side, the whole unit can "flow around" the wall, by moving though the gateway. Does that make sense?
@@AshandStoneNZ Huh, interesting. So the only way that requirement *wouldn't* be satisfied is if the obstacle is "too long" (e.g.. narrowly-spaced parallel fences, more than 9 inches long) and/or an enemy unit is positioned such that the moving unit would context it before it could "spread out?"
Yeah, though I'm sure there are other examples too.
Also, the obstacles need not be so long. Remember the whole unit must move past the obstacle, so units with more ranks can only pass smaller obstacles. And the officer must have a clear path. It basically gives the unit a way of moving through narrow areas or around buildings (or fields!) without too much mucking around.
@@AshandStoneNZ Sure. Huh, I think I took more or less than requirement as implicit (because otherwise where would you *put* your unit at the end of its move), and so assumed that the explicit "either side" requirement had to refer to something additional. (Although the possibly insane part of me insists that the "where you *put* them issue really ought to be solved by movement in column rules . . .) Definitely something worth agreeing on with an innocent before a game!
While I'm asking you questions anyway, a broader and unrelated one: as I read it, the solo campaign rules you posted seem to indicate how the ratio of friendly to hostile forces should change over time, but not how the point value for friendly forces should grow (or shrink). Is that meant to be left to player discretion, or is there a rule that I overlooked?
It's not a rule I've seen come up very often, so a friendly heads up when you see the opportunity arise will be much appreciated I'm sure!
Points values are entirely up to player discretion. Just use what makes sense for your story.
Liked and subscribed. Also great table! What are the puzzle pieces used?
Thanks Sandra! The puzzle pieces are foam floor tiles from the hardware store. I've put together a video on making them here: ruclips.net/video/TCcxZPk-Dp4/видео.html
great batrep!
Cheers mate!
Hi, very nice batrep!!!
I have a question for you reguarding the accessories that you use in this video: where i can buy the unit movement base for round based mniatures (25mm) and also the markers "activated", "disordered" etc. etc.?
Thank you.
Thank you very much.
If you have access to a 3D printer, I have the files available for free here: www.wargaming3d.com/product/25mm-round-base-movement-trays/
and here: www.wargaming3d.com/product/activated-and-disordered-basic-tokens/
If not, there are various plastic and MDF accessories available the world over, such as these movement trays: www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=14690
An internet search should see you right!
@@AshandStoneNZ THANK YOU very much!!!!!
No worries!
Never heard of this game, but really like the dwarfs
It's great! It got released at a terrible time though, with all the lockdowns, which hasn't helped get the word out. The Dwarves are excellent. Solid and reliable!
@@AshandStoneNZI am back again. Must have listened to this campaign 2 or 3 times now, but this really is the only campaign on RUclips that meets my desires in terms of armies, narrative, and overall quality. While Oathmark will unfortunately not be featuring in my community for the foreseeable future (blaming OPR for that one, kek), I do love watching/listening to your campaign. Hoping to do something similar when I get my stuff finally painted, but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your work and how much enjoyment I get from your efforts. Thank you my friend.
@@ryanphillips5126 Thanks a lot Ryan! I really do appreciate it and I'm glad your getting so much out of it!
That's probably the biggest hurdle for Oathmark, it's not Warhammer Fantasy. As such, there are no specific rules for Dark Elves or Beastmen or Lizardmen or what have you.
Though with a little imagination and the really flexible Kingdom rules, you can run most Warhammer units in one way or another!
@@ryanphillips5126 Not saying that OPR Regiments is Warhammer Fantasy either, but it certainly draws from it a lot!😆
This is great! Loved it!
Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Good video! Thanks!
Cheers! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The way you determine the activation of the goblins, is that your own homebrew rule, or is it from the book?
The activation itself is from the book. Determining which unit to activate is homebrew.
If you hadn't seen it already, you can check out a video where I explain how that works here: ruclips.net/video/4Ke-CKF4wlE/видео.html
@@AshandStoneNZ cool! I like how you can make the AI more or less aggressive
Cheers. It's nice and simple, hopefully it keeps up as the battles get larger.
Liked and subbed.
Cheers. Glad you enjoyed it.
800th Sub!
Woohoo! Cheers Guy! I hope you enjoy the content!
I like the look of the game but I can’t believe they have gone back to removing figures. So yesterday.
To each their own! I much prefer removing models myself. Though as long as you keep track of the unit strength some how, you can easily play without removing figures!
Units disappearing in a puff of smoke is much better /s
