Peter = DICE Kertz = Battlefield Scroder = EA Stefan (Tank) = Battlefield V game Bridge = Road to success American soldiers = The fans Is DICE trying to tell us something?
Just for being a cutscene, the way that peter tries to comfort kertz just looks so natural. Even the quiet "Shh" that peter gives just wracks my heart with sorrow. Came for the tank, but stayed for the feels.
The worst part about it is not when your soldier talked back to you “we are stronger together” sarcastically. It is when your soldier says that line with blind genuineness.
@lil pill I think that is a huge misunderstanding of Schröder as a character. They are all victims in this campaign. Schröder is literally a kid, that looks up to an ideal, and Müller was the symbol of that ideal, all Schröders talking points are some that Müller gave him, and you can see it at the end. How he is actually just a desperate kid whose worldview and ideal is falling apart around him. There is no arrogance there, and we should not ignore that Schröder is just as tragic a character as the others. You can see it in how he reacts to other "deserters" who were executed, a sort of detached frame from the propaganda, but when he shoots Kertz, you can hear the cracks in his voice when Müller runs to him. He grasp that something he has done is wrong, but his actions were what was expected of him, a product of the talking points given to him in part by Müller himself. When Müller surrenders, you can easily see in his face that it all falls apart around him, that the very ideal of the strong German, who will prevail to the endsieg, despite the cowards who betray Germany, is really just a lie. Schröder projected that ideal onto himself, once that was invalidated, then what was left? Just look at his face when he screams no, that is not the face of an arrogant and self agrandizing person, but of a broken and desperate kid

@TheGermanDuck hmm i guess so. though i dont see why they still had to put that accountant through all those things now that he's old. not saying that they should let him go but putting him in prison that is techinically meant to detain the bad people even though he cant really do much anyway, if theyve gotta execute him unless they needed some time to prepare they shouldve executed him as soon as possible... it just doesnt feel right man, like i fancy someone getting all the justice they deserve but that was like kicking a limbless man, you dont do that, youre the monster if you do. you shouldve beheaded him quickly. but hes dead now so whatever i guess?

Lot of people getting mad at Schroder rightfully so. But gotta remember poor kid was groomed and fashioned into what his was. Not only by the possibly Nazi Youth programs but by Peter himself, in many ways he's just as tragic as the rest of the crew. He looked to Peter for Strength and support not only as a commander but as a tried and true Soldier of German Strength and Pride. The look of confusion on his face and in his voice when he sees Peter running to aid Kertz (A deserter), starts throwing everything out of whack for him. And when Peter surrenders his whole world basically came crashing down around him He feels Betrayed and confused. Because Peter and his philosophy were all he had, and now he's has nothing

Starting with Holland, then monte cassino, then finally the ardennes. The war is all but lost for Germany, but the higher ups believe they can still turn the tide. Wilhelm, was summoned once more to serve as a paratrooper for the ardennes offensive. Their task is to drop in behind enemy lines, and sieze the area, while ss panzer divisions fight their way to you. However, assembling the fallschirmjäger so late in the war was a bit of a challenge, as by that time, the Luftwaffe had lost almost all of it's qualified and professional paratroopers. Many ranks are filled in with inexperienced conscripts with little to no training in parachuting, alongside the very few parachute trained experts and veterans of previous engagements. One of the conscripts is otto. A kid who's parents were murdered when he was little and was commonly picked on by other children. He fought in the wehrmacht, and looked up to wilhelm, seeing him as a father figure. The two grew attached to each other and wilhelm soon makes it his secondary objective to keep this kid out of harm's way. Assembling junkers ju 88 jump planes also proves very difficult, with no spare fuel for practice jumps due to shortages. Despite this, the Luftwaffe manages to muster a decent force of aircraft, and the fallschirmjäger start preparing for what looks to be the last time they'll be parachuting from the skies.
Dice can no longer write stories like this. It's all woke garbage now. BFV started out as woke garbage too, and even with the players lashing out about the wokeness, they still kept it quite woke. This was the only good campaign in the game. The rest were wokeist revisionist history. BF1 was leagues better.
Maybe They didn’t kno there was only one guy lol. This isn’t COD. Think about it in the US perspective, most of the time you’re getting shot at it’s by more than one guy and the fact that there was a Tiger sitting there doesn’t help. You don’t rush in without “intel”

It is sad, because most of the Germans only fought because it was either, fight for hitler, or die, and they did it out of fear, they didn't want to die and lose everything
I don't care, if you fight for a tyrannical regime that exists solely to cause human suffering, and to eliminate other races and is fueled by nothing but hatred and xenophobia you don't deserve to live
I personally think that this story line would have been even more powerful with the inclusion of the swastika instead of the censored iron crosses. The emotional scene of the crew men questioning his entire ideology and justification of the war; to then come to the conclusion/realization that the flag they fight under has caused death and destruction of other countries and in turn their own nation. The scene when the tank was driving over the bridge you see burning nazi (should be swastikas) banners to symbolize the end of the ideology that was ruled by mad men. Adding the swastika for me is a great story telling tool especially in this case to see the collapse of "Nazi" Germany and the soldiers realizing that the nazi ideology was wrong. That's just me but this was the best storyline in bf5, I would have liked better with nazi imagery being destroyed showing end and how wrong the nazi's were. Still great story.
It would've hurt the sales, I agree it would've made better imagery, sadly the swastika is banned in many countries and, as a business, they are profit conscious
I really hate how games don’t include the swastika, the nazis were a part of history. to not include their symbol is an insult to the people who suffered at their hands and is revisionist history.
the swastika itself solely a nazi symbol, it is a hindu symbol of peace which hitler stole in the name of aryans and still never gave credit to the place where it originated

The other three stories were shit but this is amazing. This makes me wish they would have focused a whole campaign on this, instead of butchering history.
The other 3 stories were good the Tiralleurs being my favorite of the 3. Also they're not really butchering history they just repackaged it in a fancy container.

At 1:42 Kertz says "Sieh dich doch um Peter" which means "look around you Peter" but they put "The things we believed" in the subtitles which actually comes later at 1:48 :D
What I think this moment captures perfectly (Even though its a moment from a game) is the idea of realization, and peter taking the medal around his neck off, really captures it as even though it's not modeled correctly, is supposed to resemble the Knights Iron cross of the iron order, a Medal only awarded with the Direct approval of Hitler. For many soldiers, it would be a piece of absolute pride, but to take it off and discard it themself would at least to me, be the ultimate symbol of enlightenment and sacrifice.
Hate him or not, Schröder is the type of soldier any military would dream of. He tried his best to defend his country and follow orders. He even repeated what Peter had commanded him to do. Schröder identified cowards and traitors and dealt with them accordingly. And, even when the situation seemed all but lost, he kept fighting. All the characters for this campaign were amazing, but Schröder and Hartmann were the most realistic.

@@JohnSmith-nj9qo I'll explain the SJW stance on the other missions. Norway: in real history, it was a team of Norwegian men who took down the German forces in the northern lines and they did so at heavy cost. Their sacrifice was a heavy blow to the Germans. In the game, they replace the real mean who died with some tiny teenage girl who can somehow overpower fully trained German soldiers, because FEMINISM. Then there's the French mission. In reality, racism wasn't a thing in the allied forces. A soldier was still a soldier whether he was black or white. They're basically trying to tell fake racist stories and make it out like thee few black soldiers did all the work in those battles. In reality, black and white it made no difference. They fought together. This entire game is just SJW propaganda, telling these bullshit fake stories that women and black men saved the day on the western front. The only women who were in the armies were reserved for medic and logistical support roles. The ONLY army that had women on the front lines was Russia but that number was extremely low. Like less than 1% of their front line soldiers were female
@@tennoshenaniganizer9234 It could just be ignorance of history rather than a political stance though? I don't know too much about the game, all I know is that there was the one trailer that had the woman with the robot arm, which granted was odd in a WW2 game and then suddenly the internet blew up in a giant anti SJW backlash to the point where you saw them shitting on the game on every video I watched trying to determine if it was worth the purchase, hence my angry comment in the other video.
@@JohnSmith-nj9qo Its pretty much what Tenno said.. For me the problem is not altering some aspects to make it more appealing/less ofending to wider markets(aka censoring the Nazi Salute and Swastikas) but disrespecting the history of men that sacrificed themselves to their cause..that is unacceptable. If they aimed to show how women fought in WW2 why not create a chapter about the real Soviet Women snipers??They actually did exist and their story would have made a very interesting chapter to play What they did with the history in Nordlys and Tiralleurs(less so) is like depicting the Japanese attacking the Germans at Pearl Harbor

Hartmann was hung for a crime he didn't commit Kertz was murdered for walking away from his own country's betrayal Schröder lost his childhood, and innocence, to war and the Nazi regime Peter lost a lot...his friend, his loyalty to the regime, his crew, and possibly his life At 2:29 when Schröder is yelling at Peter about how "the weak don't survive", he wasn't telling Peter something he knew. @WHY IS ALWAYS MY FAULTS If he did indeed survive then he will most likely have been taken prisoner and held for a few years maybe just so the allies know he isn't a die hard nazi who's going to try and remake the 3rd reich, but after that he'd probably be released to go and live out his life and he may have even joined the west German military when it was formed which quite a few former German officers did
It’s so sad that the common soldiers probably had no clue what their country did. Imagine that, you’re fighting for the honor of your country, you’ve watched people close to you and friends die on the battlefield, you’ve killed men, men who had families, you’re stuck with the thoughts of those screams for all of your life and you know that. But you do it for your country, only to realise that at the end, it was all a lie, you were the bad guys, your government murdered millions, that you fought for absolutely nothing, shed blood, sweat and tears for nothing. I’d be devastated beyond words.
Hitler stated many times he wanted to Exterminate the Jewish People and his war on the USSR was of Extermination with the most utter brutality he spoke over the radio to soldiers many times about this too as they knew what the flag meant they saw and whom they pledged allegiance too.
Not all German soldiers were Nazis. A lot of very good Germans died in both World War I and World War II. May God be with each one of them and give them eternal peace. U.S. Army, Ret. TX
"Just give up, dammit!" I love how this line shows that the American G.I.s were sick of the fighting as well. The final days of the war were closing, and nobody wanted to be the guy who died just before peace was made.
Those soldiers thought the war in Europe would be over by Christmas in 1944. I could only imagine the sheer frustration they felt by fighting a stubborn enemy that’s been beaten to a pulp but still wants to continue.
@@chamonix4658but it is an accurate thing. It does not have to be good. Not all of the German soldiers were nazis. Like many countries during times of war, some men either thought they were fighting for a good cause or they were forced to fight.

Kertz’s death pisses me off the fact how he knows what going on and he gets shot and dies
@lil pill kid prolly dies off-screen so I suppose it's all good
@lil pill he's definitely dead, many Americans are on to him or he would run out of ammunition
What about Hartmann?
Got mad when Hartmann died too, they sent out the kid with ptsd to scout out the territory. If anyone was qualified for the job it would've been the tank commander. At least that's how it would be if it was real.

Same with Japan
But it wouldve been a mostly tank controlling campaign
@@anshbeast5934 or maybe a whole new campaign, where you play as the fallschirmjäger.
You take control of Frederick wilhelm, a veteran of previous fallschirmjäger campaigns.

The game did but this story is good.
I was hoping for the Japanese storyline where the sailor on the Yamato feels bad about Pearl Harbor.
Honestly? It would probably be more powerful if these men were part of the Waffen-SS - but that would be too gray for mainstream games, I guess.

Theyre just too pussy to even say "Hitler" on screen for a few seconds and its very sad
Kabutoes They did mention Hitler in BF1 loading screen: Whaaaat?
D4rknesSh4d0w Lp They mentioned how his commanding officer was of Jewish descent and was the one that gave him the iron cross. I saw it while loading a multiplayer map once
The ending was so sad I almost cried
"Send Hartman."
"Hes damaged. Hes expendable."
"Hartman!"
"Ya?
this hits hard it really shows not all Germans were bad in WW2
Just as in ukraine only the nazis are bad unfortunately they are most common soldier in ukraine, i cant stand how NATO ignores the fact and still assists them.
They were all bad, the fact that some of them realized the truth in the end is no excuse. We should have killed them all.
@@STRYKER1467 you're either joking or watch too much tiktok but I'm not having this argument in a RUclips comment section
A man can change to being bad to good
@@Lordchunky2760 Most Ukrainian soldiers are poor conscripted morons dying for Zelensky, but the elite are Nazis. There is no point in trying to denie the truth.
Schröder was a victim of the Nazi 's too. He can't be more than 16 or 17 years old and he knew nothing besides Nazism and Hitler, and he would have been indoctrinated since he was a young child. I think the devs were trying to make a point here that everyone was a victim.
Hartmann was hung for a crime he didn't commit
Kertz was murdered for walking away from his own country's betrayal
Schröder lost his childhood, and innocence, to war and the Nazi regime
Peter lost a lot...his friend, his loyalty to the regime, his crew, and possibly his life
At 2:29 when Schröder is yelling at Peter about how "the weak don't survive", he wasn't telling Peter something he knew. He was trying to convince himself that what Peter had said was true. In that scene, he sounds like he is on the verge of crying while he's screaming. I think he was just as afraid of the Nazis as anyone else.
*Schröder has been kicked for the game from teamkill*
Wow de likes are memey
oTylieWylie 2 hour ban from competitive.
Chris kirkland He was upset about that
*Banned for the game from teamkill*
ok
Rainbow six siege
Despite all the political corectness and censorship... DICE nailed this campaign. The message is definitely there, showing people that not all Germans were fucking maniacs. This is a beautiful story. And yes, I cried.
All it takes is for one maniac to teamkill everyone, one maniac, Schroeder is literally a teamkilling stupid fucker
@@teslashark he's a pure nazi
@@zntrlkmdo8722 Nazis! A whole economy based on teamkilling!
You cried? Haha!
Ok, yes. I almost cried too.
If the game where PC then their wouldn’t be representation for “Nazis”
This has got to be one of the sadest endings to a battlefield campaign ever
I cried for kertz.
KERTZ! KERTZ!
@give me my pen back nice
The spring of 2019 saw the EA reich pushed back to its roots, hungry players, crippled production, an shit industry :v
You just made me laugh. Take my like good sir. Apologies for being late 2 years
Amen
It is not an over-complicated scene, but it is very very powerful
(Im late) Müller didnt die Schroder did
MP40's fire rate is a bit slower than the M3 Grease gun (Maybe idk i think they have the same fire rate)
Also, Schroder's gun was empty as u can see the bolt forward when Schroder saw Müller surrender
And at the start of the mission Müller also said he was there so clearly he didnt die
@WHY IS ALWAYS MY FAULTS If he did indeed survive then he will most likely have been taken prisoner and held for a few years maybe just so the allies know he isn't a die hard nazi who's going to try and remake the 3rd reich, but after that he'd probably be released to go and live out his life and he may have even joined the west German military when it was formed which quite a few former German officers did
3:31 That's very deep
EXTRA DEEP
deep like candy suxxx's ass
"NNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN"
Me when I say no in german
I highly recommend the doge version of this scene
I've come here to feel, not to laugh !
But yeah, I've seen it, not a bad clip for some quick lols.
Ive seen that first
Someone actually made it.
I came from that version
I came from there actually.
I’d probably commit suicide because I couldn’t be able to live with myself knowing the full atrocities of what my “comrades did”
surrendering is the best option
Hitler stated many times he wanted to Exterminate the Jewish People and his war on the USSR was of Extermination with the most utter brutality he spoke over the radio to soldiers many times about this too as they knew what the flag meant they saw and whom they pledged allegiance too.
Yeah. Like the US post WW2 up until today.
Not all German soldiers were Nazis. A lot of very good Germans died in both World War I and World War II. May God be with each one of them and give them eternal peace. U.S. Army, Ret. TX
Many were even drafted into the war.
They were all bad, the fact that some of them realized the truth in the end is no excuse. We should have killed them all
"Just give up, dammit!"
I love how this line shows that the American G.I.s were sick of the fighting as well.
This was my favorite war story, the Germans were shown as actual humans who fought for their country unlike cod.
fighting blindly for your country and its own destruction is not a good thing
They were not humans, not anymore, the fact that some of them realized the truth in the end is no excuse. We should have killed them all
@@chamonix4658but it is an accurate thing. It does not have to be good. Not all of the German soldiers were nazis. Like many countries during times of war, some men either thought they were fighting for a good cause or they were forced to fight.
never heard of Hitlers peace offers i guess@@chamonix4658
@b4reofficial454 They were by pledging allegiance to Hitler and as for operation barbarossa the majority of the wehrmacht soldiers had same racial believe as the Nazi Government in regards to the War of Extermination of the Soviet People as what Hitler stated it was and brutal war against the East Slavic people. They knew what they were doing as Nazi propaganda was in their eyes the whole time and the flag they saw everyday and what it meant.
Main I love it when I’m in an emotional part and my headphones go “ battery low”
Never thought I’d sympathize for the German solder during a specific era but this pulled my heart strings
its to be understanded. its not to say they werent the bad guys. its to say they realized it too late, and with it came the guilt. they were never going to be forgiven for the hatred and despair they brought to inocent people. the only assurance is that they were going to burn in hell for it. maybe even in death.
I like the background music its kinda sad
